A lot of politicians talk about free speech. But then you wonder if they genuinely even understand the concept. Particularly those on the liberal side of the aisle who seem all too cool with trying to shut down free speech on social media. The Biden team got shut down for their efforts at censorship in a landmark free speech case. But as we saw, they’re still trying to appeal that in court. They got smacked down again on Monday when the judge denied the Biden team’s motion to stay the injunction against the efforts at censorship pending the appeal.

I like him, too, but am troubled by suggestions that he has a Soros connection of some kind from the past. Does anyone here have anything credible on that? I find it hard to believe based on what we're seeing and hearing from him now, but stranger things have happened in politics.
It's certainly likely that it's only an ugly rumor, tossed out to see if it sticks.

Since I was a kid, when Ronald Reagan was president, the standard Republican/Conservative stance was anti-abortion except in the cases of rape or incest or the life of the mother was at stake. I think this woman was introducing a red-herring, emotional argument.
She does make a good point. Not enough is done to address single parenthood, especially for moms. By address, I don’t mean more money from the government necessarily.

The so-called "Soros connection," is that he was offered a scholarship to Soros' young leaders of the future team.
He refused.
Trudeau accepted.
Macron accepted.
Newsome accepted.
Etc.

I, too, liked his response.
But IMHO, the elephant in the room: it WAS your choice when you said Yes to the man in the first place. (Her speech did not imply she was raped or forced into sex.)
Yes, it IS your body/your choice. But the choice should come at the beginning— not the end.

#5,#6,#7,#8~ It appears there is more to Vivek Ramaswamy’s “Soros connection” than being the beneficiary of a Soros Fellowship in 2011 that helped cover his costs at Yale for a future law degree according to a very interesting and enlightening article written by Bob Ryan published in The American Thinker. It seems links to his connections with George Soros as well as his connection to the Ohio Coronavirus Task Force that resulted in the Republican Governor of Ohio, Mike DeWine, carrying out “an almost identical shutdown as Democrat governors” were scrubbed by Vivek Ramaswamy prior to announcing his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election. Scrubbing, according to Mr. Ryan, raises the question of trust.

I really like him and what he did was pretty smart because he also showed the audience her true agenda. If you paid attention, she started her tirade on the subject of "protecting women," then he said, "yes, we should protect women," she shifted and started screaming that Republicans were rapists and kept screaming about non-consensual sex. Then when he asked her to talk, she referred to her child as the thing that was implanted in her that she is having to raise by herself (note: implied is that the child was implanted consensually) and that the "system" doesn't help single mothers (puuuuhlllleeezzze!). Then, she ends her vitriolic tirade by stating that her kid is successful and is doing just fine. So...in the end, she just wanted to scream about how much she hated Republicans by using the "protect all women" BS.

Just based on this woman's first impression, do you think any man is going to stick around for her aggressive verbal attacks, emotional outbursts, and rude behavior? If he can tolerate her behavior, would he want to look at that to start his day?

No one ‘implanted’ a child in this woman. I agree that she shouldn’t have any more children. Meaning she shouldn’t get pregnant.

A lot of comments saying basically the same thing always concern me. He came out of nowhere and the only thing I've read about him is the possible Soros connection. I'll withhold judgement for a while but as of now, not interested in him at all.

I think he a breath of fresh air. I also think he had a political awakening like many have in the past decade, in no small part due to our President Trump and all the evil media has done to hurt him and his family... and how they have moved heaven and earth to cover up for the Clinton/Obama/Bidens.
I'll wait for Vivek's response to the Soros charges being leveled against him. Just because one questionable (at best) "writer" thinks he has dug up the ultimate dirt against a candidate doesn't mean much to me. The NeverTrumpers did the same stuff and still are.

#14 -- Actually, he didn't just "come out of nowhere." I've been following him for a while...one of the only "mainstream media" channels that I watch is CNBC in the morning. He's been a guest on that show for years and he got my attention when he formed Strive Investment to directly take on BlackRock, Vanguard and other investment firms that were using the ESG model to control corporations in their portfolios. He has the ability to articulately and succintly explain and defend a position while simultaneously dismantling the opposition.

#15~ “I'll wait for Vivek's response to the Soros charges being leveled against him. Just because one questionable (at best) "writer" thinks he has dug up the ultimate dirt against a candidate doesn't mean much to me.” / Mr. Ryan has an MBA in Business Administration and is not just “one” writer pointing out the scrubbing of Mr. Ramaswamy’s links to the Soros family and having served on Ohio’s Covid-19 Response Team. An article written by Prem Thakker (a graduate of Columbia) revealing Ramaswamy’s scrubbed links was published on May 3, 2023 in the politically left-leaning New Republic precedes the article written by Mr. Ryan.

Vivek Ramaswamy Paid Wikipedia Editors to Erase His Soros Fellowship and Covid Work
Prem Thakker - May 3, 2023/8:45 p.m. ET
Watching and waiting is a commendable strategy, however, with the background of Mr. Ramaswamy, his response may not be as simple as “they said, he says” due to other possible complications in his background. For example, his biotech company (Roivant Sciences) is, according to Wikipedia, “a healthcare company focused on applying technology to drug development. Roivant builds subsidiary biotech and healthcare technology companies.”
In January 2020 the Center for Disease Control developed its own coronavirus test to evaluate the first case of the virus in the States. In March 2020, Roivant announced it was developing gimsilumab, “to prevent and treat acute respiratory distress syndrome in patients with Covid-19” and “In April 2020, Roivant started the administration of gimsilumab to Covid-19 patients in the United States.” In light of mandates imposed by the federal government regarding what medications and/or treatments people with Covid-19 could access, privately or in hospitals, the uncertainty of medications and/or manufacturers of medications that may be intertwined with those government restrictions comes into play. Might there be revelations yet to come?

A couple of points: most Americans are sympathetic to abortion decisions if there is rape or incest. We don’t like it, but that’s a choice to be made. We don’t know about this woman’s story-or about how she became pregnant. Was it relationship gone bad? I see why. She is frustrated, and the father is a deadbeat. Neither of them made good choices.

I don’t like it when a candidate for president of our United States comes out of nowhere and begins scrubbing his past connections and actions from the internet. And a gig on CNBC does not a president make.
He worries me a lot. More negatives that matter (his actions) than positives (his talking points). We’ve done glib before…No interest whatsoever.

Re #5, he actually accepted the Soros fellowship. He turned down the WEF young global leader or some such.
Those who are curious about him should read this in-depth vetting by Jordan Schachtel, someone who thought it odd that he came out of nowhere and decided to run for president, and decided to do a deep dive into his background, something I’ll venture no one here has done:
