There will always be an England, goes the saying. But will there? If what’s happening to former party leader and Brexit champion Nigel Farage is any indication, that charming old axiom may have reached its sell-by date.
In an editorial entitled “After my banking travails, I fear Britain is lost,” Farage tells a hair-raising tale of institutionalized political bigotry and discrimination. It combines the kind of systemic abuse once associated with Soviet rule but now sadly common in the United States with the sort of social credit tyranny one sees in China.
“…We are living through the politicisation of our corporate sector.

It appears Nigel's only alternative is to pay his bills in person with cash. It will be a great personal inconvenience. However, think of the mayhem it will cause the banks to receive a large mortgage payment in cash. Or, a credit card company to process a monthly payment in cash. Are utility companies set up to accept cash payments? Department store credit bureaus?
If Nigel plays this right, he could throw mega tons of sand into the Deep State's machines. Their "punishment" of Nigel, could be turned into Farage's Cash Crash of the Financial System.

I wonder how easy it is for someone living in England to have an account with, say, Wells Fargo, or Chase Manhattan, or CitiBank in order to pay his bills in the UK. While stationed there, I still had my bank with the old National Bank Of Fort Sam Houston, but I opened a checking & savings account with Barclays Bank to make it easier to pay my mortgage and other bills in the UK.
Come on over, Nigel; we colonials can take care of ya! Right after the 4th of July, no less.

I agree with OP. It is evil. What right has anyone to do this? Too many things in this country as well are no longer right or wrong; it is what can you get away with? It seems as if you can get away with anything any more.

Nigel is a powerful, well connected individual who will, no doubt, have this inequity overturned. But what about ordinary citizens who suffer such an outrage? Like the Canadian woman who gave a donation to truckers, only to have her credit cards lifted by the Canadian government.? Will we in this country be able to safely donate to the Party or candidate of our choice without it surfacing at our mortgage application?

Unbelievable. The banks are happy to serve felons, rapists, and any common criminals all the time. So it's absurd that they would target some person just because of his political beliefs.
But if that's the game they want to play, fine. Here is an antidote (just in case any banks here get the same idea). Banks are more vulnerable than they let on to the public. If a particular bank targets you for your political beliefs (or if all of them do, as here) organize a cash run on that bank (or on one particular one) on a particular day. Let's see how they like it when they have to live only on cash (they can't). This kind of political persecution needs to be aggressively nipped in the bud ASAP.

Proving that any business can deny services to anyone in England. I guess they don't have enough lawyers (barristers?) in England to allow millions of lawsuits.

Obviously Mark of the Beast type system (see Revelation 13).
Believe it or not, this is what drew me to Jesus. The Peter says that even though he and others were "eye witnesses of His majesty" that we have an even more sure word of prophecy.
God has foretold these events in detail in the Bible thousands of years ago. Ought to make us want to check it out.
It did me.
By the way, the Bible foretells a coming wholesale slaughter of Christians by this evil system, but Jesus said even though they will kill some of you there "shall not an hair of your head perish."
Definitely need to check this out.

It's a shot across the bow. Too bad Harry and Meghan still have access to the UK and US banking systems.

#9, I remember as a young person learning about the end times but it seemed like a fable and unlikely to happen in my lifetime. Now, it’s pretty clear that’s exactly what is happening. If you are familiar with the end times as predicted in the Bible, there is no doubt we are moving quite rapidly in that direction. It’s interesting to see it unfold but at the same time, it is very scary because of what I know is to come. Thankfully, our hope is in Jesus who sacrificed himself on Calvary and rose from the dead so that all who believe He is who He said He was will have a home with Him for eternity. Honestly, I am so conflicted. My flesh wants to fix this but my soul understands that God is in control.

Yes 11. As is the pretending regarding biology and gender. My flesh is outraged. Yet I know Jesus has been given all authority by the Father over galaxies & governments. In His time justice (& judgement) will come. An eternity without the love of God will be an awful thing.

I have always believed that once we defeated the British and drove them out of New England we should have built more ships, sailed to Britain, and finished the job.

The global revolution between good and evil worsens to be sure. The end times as #11 suggests? Yes, it sure looks like it. And don't expect God to jump in and suddenly fix things. We must seek Him and His love for us first. Meanwhile, what happens next in this world? You will see.

An object lesson for Mr. Farage in why OUR ancestors left and why we fought a war to become independent. Nothing has changed. Mr. Farage can always head to Mexico, come across our southern border, and automatically get an asylum case assigned to him.

I pay my monthly utility bills by check..through the post office mailing system...it bothers the companies because it's not so easy to keep an eye on my bank account...and I buy locally and use U.S. cash...so I'm doing my part to tweek the system set up by the government ...I see more and more people...in my neck of the woods...paying by cash...so I'm not alone...one step at a time....Nigel...don't give up...pay off cars and property so no monthly bill will come due...WE're in this together....

My reading of the article ended when Adam Schiff's censure was presented as analogous to Farage's debanking.

Regarding posts #11 and #12, I know the Word. The one that gets me is about praying for those in Authority. I really try to do that. It wasn't hard to do, even before #45. I just cannot get past perfunctory compliance with the I Tim. 2 exhortation.

These are the tactics of low quality people. We have them here...the democrat party and their followers (sheep). They have neither the ethics nor morality to enable to them to operate on the up and up.

This, apparently, is why we need Bitcoin as an alternative to government-banking-industrial-complex tyranny.

They did this to Katie Hopkins years ago. The powers-that-be were determined to make her a non-person. I'm certain Katie and Nigel won't be the only victims.

#18, I think the analogous comparison of “vile practice” was between the dastardly behavior of Schiff lying in Congress & the liar who lied about Farage in Parliament - not a criticism of the censure of Schiff.
FTA: “ To cite another American version of this vile practice, the U.S. House of Representatives recently censured Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) for, among other slanders, lending “credibility to the Steele dossier — a collection of debunked collusion accusations funded by President Trump’s political rivals — by reading false Steele allegations into the Congressional Record” back in 2017.”

On this (Western) side of The Pond, I keep hearing bits about a proposed 'Digital Dollar', the tone of the reports is that the Government intends to do away with paper currency and go all-electronic.... and which will provide the Government full knowledge of Every transaction and will enable Full Government Control of Every Account.
I don't think this will happen, but we may be wise to keep a sharp -and skeptical- eye on this.
