Furious ice cream fans are promising to boycott the iconic Ben & Jerry's brand, accusing the company of 'going woke' following a July 4th tweet in which it said that it was 'committed' to returning 'stolen' lands to indigenous peoples.
The brand, which was founded by longtime Bernie Sanders allies Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenwood but has since been sold to British multinational Unilever, tweeted the message to its 494,000 followers.
'This 4th of July, it's high time we recognize that the US exists on stolen Indigenous land and commit to returning it,' the company's official account wrote before suggesting Mount Rushmore should be handed back to its original owners.

We stopped buying B&G's ice cream years ago when their woke message turned their ice cream sour.

About fifteen years ago I bought a pint of B&J's Cherry Garcia, being a fan of the Grateful Dead. It was good ice cream, but the founders' Maoist beliefs make their brand unacceptable now. I won't ever buy another pint. Get woke, go broke.

I just saw on T.V. An Indian saying that Ben and Jerry’s are sitting on land stolen from them and it would be nice for Ben and Jerry to return their land to them . Another thing all countries in the world do not have the original owners. At this rate we will have to give some of our states back to Mexico who then would have to give back to the Indians

Never bought their ice cream because of their politics. But now that they are the "light beer" of ice cream I am hoping that fence sitters will now join in. Besides, it's to expensive. Blue Bell will work just fine. When they sell everything they own, close up shop, hand over the deed and the keys to whomever they are just progressives taking up space, telling others who to do and living the high life. Maybe if they put bugs in vanilla and called them chocolate chips.

This won’t hurt them with their customer base of effete, wine drinking snobs. Unlike Bud Light where that chick that torched the brand didn’t have a clue about who bought their beer.

Give it back so WE can steal it in other words. B&J continue to steal from B&J customers; they need to give every dime back plus all the wealth they, their children, and family members have stolen. And they need to find a spot on the planet that doesn't belong to anyone and make it theirs. With no funding from anyone. Not a dime. Let's see if they can make it like cavemen. Dumb!

There are ice cream brands that are cheaper than Ben & Jerry's and just as good. I have never bought B & J. Bet there are many others just like me. Higher prices mean fewer customers. So does being woke. They better wise up or they will be downsizing. Maybe they are ok with that. Serving only woke customers. Nice LITTLE niche. They can pat themselves on their backs for the high 'moral' standards. Everyone else will give them a kick in the pants.

Let's look at this from a historical perspective: Which indigenous people are we going to give which lands too? Native Americans waged war and conquered and enslaved for thousands of years before Europeans came. An example are the Crow Amerinds who helped the US Cavalry fight the Sioux. They had been driven from their native lands only a generation before and hoped to use the Europeans to recover it. Stealing horses, women, children was practically a game to prove a warrior's status within a tribe. Nations like the Iroquois the Maya, Aztec and Inca, were unusual in duration.
So who do we give the land too? The people who stole it from someone else a few years before we showed up? The people they stole it from?
By conquest we Europeans have as much right to the land as any of their ancestors.

Before the Pilgrims arrived in 1620 the entire land mass that is now the USA was inhabited by indigenous peoples also called Indians, who considered their tribes to be separate nations from each other. If the current land mass of the USA is handed over to indigenous people the USA would no longer exist. Chances are that is not going to happen which will make the extreme leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrats very sad as it is evident that they would love to see the USA crash and burn, to be replaced by some sort of socialist utopia. Forget about Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and let them take their business to indigenous people and see what happens.

In 1737, Chief Lappawinsoe (Lenape Indian Tribe) signed the Walking Purchase agreement to SELL part of his tribe's land in the eastern border area of the colonial Province of Pennsylvania along the upper northern reaches of the Delaware River with the neighboring West New Jersey colonial grant further east of the Province of New Jersey (later after the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783) as the State of New Jersey) "extending as far west as a man could walk in a day and a half". Historian often use the quote: "Chief Lappawinsoe, believing the treaty genuine and assuming a man could only walk about 40 miles, agreed to the Walk!".

Growing up I never had B & J's as my family bought the cheaper store brands (six kids who loved ice cream) mainly from the A& P, IGA or if my mom really wanted to go all out Kroger. Plus going to places like Dairy Queen were at treat. The only time when I had their ice cream was my first "steel beach picnic" during my first Naval deployment in the Pacific. I was barely 20 single and had a ball with my fellow sailors. When I got married and had kids I just never bothered to by B & J's settling for cheaper brands like Haagen-Daz or Blue Bell. Then while listening to Rush Limbaugh, he clued me in as to how leftwing the founders were and that just made me want to continue to not buy their product. As far as I'm concerned Ben & Jerry's is to ice cream what Star Bucks is to coffee.

It is a bit like the constant AARP commercials on tv of late where various people say that they don't always agree with AARP (notoriously Leftist) but DO think they are allies new: social security. First, SS is not in danger, despite political rhetoric and the fact that it HAS to be modified to survive, but Second and more important, where do you think your AARP membership $ GOES? Right into its really Leftist agenda---you are funding the enemy. In the same way, though I love Cherry Garcia I won't fund Ben or Jerry.

Problem is, the "indiginous" peoples stole it from someone else to begin with (Clovis) and then spent a few thousand years raiding and stealing from each other before Europeans ever got here. But now, in the 21st Century, I'll go Ben and Jerry one better.
All American Indian treaties should be immediately abrogated and all reservation lands turned over to the federal governmnent for sale to the public or use as national parks. The entire concept of a "nation within a nation" is obsolete and should be abandoned. It's 2023. We took it. It's ours now. Assimilate!

About 25 years ago, my husband and I were driving through Vermont on a vacation trip to the northeast states, and we stopped at the B&J factory in Stowe to take the tour. At the end of the tour, they gave out samples. We both thought that it wasn't half as good as our beloved Bluebell ice cream back home in Texas.
When we got back home to San Antonio, I looked for their ice cream at the grocery store, and was shocked at just how expensive it was. It was only later that I learned what sort of far left lie-beral nutcases B and J were.
Needless to say, we never bought their lie-beral swill and never will!!! So, sorry, we can't join the boycott, since we can't boycott something we have never, and will never, buy!!!

Maybe the extreme leftists like B&J who obviously hate America should think about emigrating back to the foreign lands from which their ancestors immigrated to America and see how they like living in those old countries.

Bend over, B&J. You’re about to get a real reaming. Kiss your arse goodbye.

No biggie. Our grocery stores don't stock B&J, anyway. But adding B&J to our no-buy list, anyway.

Isn't it "Indigenous peoples"? Seems idiotic, but that is they way it is presented most of the time. Maybe the virtual signalers at B&J's need to brush up on their progressive-speak.

I do not buy Ben & Jerry's ice cream out of personal preference but if I did I would stop buying it immediately. Further, I will go out of my way to convince my family, friends and even casual acquaintances to also not buy their product as well.

#34 But now there's "Licks". I like their Sweet Potato Jalapeno ice cream.
