Migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border swelter
in unforgiving Texas and Arizona heat

Original Article

An abandoned tea kettle with discarded cups and sugar. A long-forgotten blanket draped over a spiny cholla cactus. These are just some of the items volunteers and immigrant rights advocates have found in the unforgiving desert separating the United States from Mexico, where an untold number of people seeking asylum pass through every day. Experts say increased temperatures and a persistent heat wave in the Southwest has exacerbated an already difficult immigration crisis and endangered the lives of migrants who often undertake long and perilous journeys without food, water or sun protection. “People just don’t know what they’re up against,”

Comments:

Surprise - It's roasting hot in the desert.

Their "long and perilous journey" begins after they have been trucked, trained, flown and boated to the Rio Grande. It is in the best interests of those who ship the migrants here that the United States take care of them. Sorry we didn't have the foresight to place water fountains in the desert for you.

#14, close but actually the legal term is "illegal alien". That is the technically correct term. Smearing actual legal immigrants by calling illegal aliens ANY form if "immigrant" or "migrant" is just a slur on honest people who come here by following the laws. IMO, legal immigrants are welcome. Illegal aliens should be harshly punished, up to including.....well anything, in defending the border.

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki claimed Republicans are recruiting Muslims against transgender people in her Sunday episode of MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki.” Psaki claimed Republicans are using former President Richard Nixon’s “Southern Strategy” method by turning Muslim Americans against transgender people and, in turn, winning their vote. “Now, decades later, the right-wing is reviving that same playbook,” Psaki said. “This time, with Muslim Americans and trans people. Hear me out here, the GOP is trying to recruit Muslim Americans, a community that makes up less than two percent of the U.S. population against another tiny marginalized group of Americans — transgender people.”

The background is that state and federal gasoline taxes aren’t raising “enough” money these days to pay for roadway construction and maintenance. And a big reason for the growing shortfall is the increase in electric vehicles. EVs get massive tax subsidies to convince people to buy them, but their owners don’t pay gasoline taxes,
