Former President Trump is the only living current or living former U.S. president who is not descended from slaveholders, according to a Tuesday report from Reuters. The report detailed the ancestry of America's leaders as of the 117th Congress. The report found that five living presidents, two Supreme Court justices, 11 governors and 100 members of Congress had ancestors who owned slaves. Presidents Biden, Carter, George W. Bush, Clinton and Obama all have ancestors who enslaved Black people in their family trees, according to the report, with Obama's link coming from his White mother's side. Meanwhile, Trump's family did not immigrate to the U.S. until after slavery was abolished.

Re #2, no. Far too broad a brush. Like Trump’s family, many of our forebears came to America after the Civil War. And others fought on the Union side or were Northerners against slavery. My grandmother in PA had a black laundrywoman who was well paid and addressed as Mrs. (XXX), never by her first name. She would not work for anyone else no matter how they tried to lure her aware.

Just because Obama's father was African doesn't mean that there were no slaves in his family. It was the Africans who captured people and sold them to the Europeans. So, don't give him a pass.

That's no obstacle to the NeverTrumpers, who will just shift their focus of attack away from the racism thing, over to their claim that his daddy was a nazi. All the while, completely ignoring that the current occupant of the Oval Office is completely incompetent, systematically destroying the nation, and not even calling the shots.

INQUIRING minds want to know WHERE the original slaveholders GOT THEIR SLAVES? How many black slaves can be traced back to OTHER BLACKS who SOLD them? Slavery existed for many centuries, and slaves were commonly sold, all well before white slaveholders in North America and the Caribbean had slaves. In some places in the world TODAY slaves still exist. It is grossly unfair to judge men and women today by what their ancestors did regarding slavery. Nor should people today have to make whole those who portray themselves as victims of slavery. Equity is the excuse now for those supposed victims who are unwilling to participate in a system of meritocracy .. .they'd rather just get stuff without working, and continue to portray themselves as victims. SMART Americans won't play that game.

My paternal ancestors came to this country in 1752 and fought in the Revolutionary War. After their service to the country as the story goes, they were given land and made their way to eastern Kentucky. I looked up the census in the late 1790’s and it stated right on the form, No slaves, too poor to own slaves. I don’t know about the rest of my ancestors but considering most were Scots-Irish, I doubt they were much better off. Slavery, unfortunately, was a type of currency that has been used since the beginning of time. If we all could trace our ancestry back far enough, I’d wager many of us were either slaves or held slaves. Unfortunately, human beings are flawed from the get go and nothing confirms that more than our past and what we see going on today. There was a time when people were ashamed of their sin, but now it is celebrated in front of children. It’s a sick world we live in and it breaks my heart to see children become the focus of the worst kind of perversions with the wholehearted permission of their parents. This conditioning of children by the public acceptance of profane acts committed by adults is a goal of the LGBTQ+ community. Their behavior is in your face. Such depravity is a sign of the end of a civilization. Sexual depravity is the last stop on the road to the complete destruction of a civilization. Check it out. There is always rampant sexual perversion going on at the end. The West is crumbling right before our eyes. If God permits this kind of debauchery to continue He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah. Yeah, we have become that perverse. What civilization has come back from this point? I cannot think of one. Such sexual deviation is a one way street to destruction and the West is not going to be any different. I cannot believe what is happening.

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., said Thursday that the Supreme Court's decision to overrule affirmative action in colleges should be celebrated. On "The Faulkner Focus," the 2024 presidential candidate also hit back at former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, who said "my heart breaks" for young people who are "wondering what their future holds" after the decision. Scott said the Obamas and others on the left are pushing lies "from the pit of hell" about opportunity in America.

Republican presidential candidates are applauding the ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court's conservative majority to severely limit the use of race in determining college admissions. In a 6-3 decision announced on Thursday, the justices ruled that the use of race as a factor in college admissions was a violation of the 14th Amendment's equal protection clause. The Supreme Court's ruling upends decades of affirmative action programs that colleges and universities had used to select students. "The world admires America because we value freedom and opportunity. The Supreme Court reaffirmed those values today," GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley wrote in a statement.

"The Bidens are the best at doing exactly what Chairman wants." The latest WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden to a Chinese businessman may be the perfect epitaph for the entire Biden corruption scandal. Indeed, it may be the most accurate statement ever made by Hunter Biden. This is precisely what the Bidens are the best at: selling access and influence. Years ago, I wrote how the Biden family has long distinguished itself in all things corrupt from nepotism to sweetheart deals to influence peddling. Bidens like Hunter's uncle James have been repeatedly criticized for cashing in on claims of access to his brother.

The U.S. Supreme Court handed down a major ruling on affirmative action Tuesday, rejecting the use of race as a factor in college admissions as a violation of the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause. Many universities have argued that race-based admissions ensures that student bodies remain diverse, while critics such as the plaintiffs in the cases argue the policy discriminates against many qualified students based on race. Students for Fair Admissions, a student activist group, brought cases against both Harvard and University of North Carolina.

Internal Revenue Service whistleblower Gary Shapley defended his claims that Hunter Biden got special treatment from the Department of Justice in an interview on Fox News' "Special Report." Shapley, a 14-year veteran of the agency, has come forward with accusations that prosecutors put an investigation into Hunter Biden's finances "on the back burner" as the 2020 election approached. He further claims that David Weiss, the Trump-appointed U.S. attorney in Delaware, said privately on several occasions that he was not pulling the strings and that he was not in charge of the investigation. Shapley said he was in a meeting last fall when Weiss admitted he was not calling the shots.

Sources close to former President Trump say he has a plan for keeping Congress from ever again forcing him into “disgraceful” and “ridiculous” spending situations. If he returns to the White House, Trump will seek to resurrect authority that Congress stripped from the presidency almost a half century ago. What President Nixon squandered, his campaign promises, Trump will restore, namely the impoundment power. “A lot of you,” the former president told a New Hampshire crowd Thursday, “don't know what that is.” Indeed, few now remember it. Impoundment, if restored, would allow a president, in theory, to simply refuse to spend appropriations by Congress.

When Democrats settled on Joe Biden as their candidate in 2020, they seemed to think he would be perfectly fine. He wasn’t completely crazy, he seemed moderate, he was happy enough to hide away in his basement to make the campaign all about President Trump, and he had enough experience in Washington to go along the established order that the nabobs of the capital city prefer. But like Taylor Swift pointed out in her 2008 hit song, sometimes Mr. Perfectly Fine turns out to be a disaster. Or as one friend of mine likes to put it, everything is fine until it is not fine.

Eight percent. That’s the absurdly tiny fraction of America’s public-school teacher workforce aged 60-or-older who faced non-trivial mortality risk from COVID-19 before vaccines were available. Eight percent also happens to be the share of Black 13-year-olds who – according to recently released federal data – performed at the top level in mathematics on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). And while traditional public schools have failed to deliver for disadvantaged students of color for far too long, these alarming numbers represent a significant drop in their performance since before the pandemic.
