The Chinese spy balloon that was shot down over the Atlantic Ocean in early February was built -- at least partly -- using American off-the-shelf parts, a U.S. official has confirmed to ABC News.
A second U.S. official was also able to confirm that the balloon did not appear to have transmitted any of the data it collected on its journey above North America, as was initially reported by the Wall Street Journal. The first official could not say whether any of the American gear was sold illicitly to China but said determining whether any of it came from illegal trade was a topic of serious concern

What was the point of (any) data collection if there was no transmission? How would any data be recovered? A data dump at a later time? How did the Chicoms track the thing to "guide" it?

No reasonable person believes there was no data transmitted to China. As usual, the national socialist democrat party is denying the undeniable.

Literally unbelievable; as in not to be believed, fabulous, a contrived falsehood. Lol. ABC News demonstrating their utter disdain for Americans’ critical thinking skills.

I don't believe anything U.S. "officials" have to say. The reputation for truth telling has been lost.

First of all, it depends on what the definition of "parts" is. Could be anything. Secondly - and very sadly - there is no longer any credibility in what "a U.S. official" says or confirms. Comer says the haul is now up to $50 million? Much of which came from China? When U.S. officials start confirming that I'll maybe start listening.

Do you believe anything that comes from the mouths of people working for the government? They will lie willingly or because they are forced to to keep their jobs. Why would China just send over a balloon? They always have a reason for everything.

Another story for the gullible. There is no “Chinese spy ballon.” These are US government spy balloons.

The 'RATS and ABC (but I repeat myself) confirming that, given the choice between telling the truth or an obvious lie, they will tell the Obvious Lie every time. Didn't they say, while the balloon was still in the air, that they had "learned a lot about Chinese intelligence methods and technology" from monitoring the balloon? How could they have done that, other than monitor the balloon equipment's transmissions?
"The officials told lawmakers that the US has assessed that little new intelligence was gleaned by the Chinese balloon operation because the Chinese appeared to stop transmitting information once the US learned of the balloon,"

"American Equipment" could be anything from a sophisticated remote sensor, to a transmitter, down to a battery, or something as simple as a single piece of nut-and-bolt hardware. No telling. And with this lying crowd, it's likely a complete lie.
Oh, and #19, don't forget the Tooth Fairy!

The operative phrase is "did not appear".
