Kamala Harris Says ‘Book Bans’ Make
LGBT People ‘Afraid’ For Their Lives

Vice President Kamala Harris said Monday that so-called “book bans” make LGBT people fear for their lives. Allegations of book banning started after Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation protecting parental rights in Florida in March 2022, which led to schools pulling multiple books on the grounds of having explicit content, including “Gender Queer,” “Let’s Talk About It” and “It’s Perfectly Normal.” Parents across the country have raised objections to books with sexually explicit content in recent years. “This fight is not over, when I look at the fact that in our country, we’re looking at somewhere around 600 bills being proposed or passed, anti-LGBTQ, book bans,

These books are not banned. They are available for purchase or check out at a public library. Just because they are not available at a public school does not mean a student cannot get their hands on one to read again and again. A school cannot purchase every book that has ever been published. They have limited funds to spread around over several genres. Get a grip and stop lying. For once tell the truth. They ARE NOT BANNED. You can go to Amazon right now and type in the title or author of the book you are interested in get it delivered in the next 24 hours. Bingo - not banned.

I remember learning to read with Dick and Jane. They are long retired, as is understandable basic math. Kamala wants to replace them with Ken and Barry, and Barbie, Betsy and Sally. Home schooling seems to be the way to go for basic education if you can possibly do it.

Good grief woman, get a grip. There is nothing wrong with parents and other decent people wanting to ban disgusting materials like those which encourage grooming and convincing kids they are the wrong sex. But then again, Kamala is child free having never experienced giving birth of one of her own. So she is going to attack parents for wanting to protect their kids.

Hey KH there is a big difference between banning books and banning books that are not appropriate for children. Banning books that are not appropriate for an age group is called being a good parent. Think before you speak.

It has long been universally established that when it comes to the possession and declassification of so-called “classified documents,” U.S. Presidents enjoy a unique power and privilege. In 2017, the New York Times acknowledged that “Mr. Trump has the power to declassify or disclose anything he wants.” The Times quoted Steven Afterfood, a government secrecy specialist, who said that “the classification system is not based on a law” and that “it is an expression of presidential authority, and that means that the president and his designees decide what is classified, and they have the essentially unlimited authority to declassify at will.”

In a historic ruling, The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that the Harvard and UNC race-based affirmative action programs are unconstitutional. Schools nationwide will no longer be able to discriminate against students on the basis of race. How outlandish were Harvard’s affirmative action policies? An African American student placed within the 40th percentile of their academic index is more likely to gain admission than an Asian student who ranks in the topmost, 100th percentile.

The Supreme Court has ruled that it is unlawful for colleges and universities to use race as a factor in admissions, overturning rulings from as far back as 1978 that claimed institutions of higher education had a valid interest in promoting racial diversity on campus and could thus give favorable consideration to black and Latino applicants in their admissions process. Two separate decisions were reached in which the nation’s highest court ruled that Harvard University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill engaged in unlawful discriminatory practices based on race that violated the Constitution.

In the decades during which I have followed politics and social issues, I have seen passionate disagreements among Americans. The Vietnam War was the focus of massive protests. Legalized abortion, after Roe v. Wade, was followed by bombings. Racial integration was accompanied by murders by racist militants. Unenforced laws, including immigration and retail theft, have left us feeling betrayed by our government. The list goes on. Somehow, we survived. Then came the transsexual movement, complete with "drag-queen story hours" for young children. Some of those children have become the victims of surgical mutilation.
