Thousands of United Airlines passengers have slammed the company for ruining their July 4 weekend amid an expected sixth day of massive nationwide airline delays and cancellations.
Travelers using the US travel giant have been caught up in the chaos as they are forced to wait on the phone for six hours in a bid to rebook flights – with many warning that they are ‘running out of money and options'.
Many have been forced to wait in airports across the country and pay for hotels they can't get to. Others have told of missing out on family weddings, vacations, and once-in-a-life-time concerts.

Well maybe they should have scheduled their parties for something other than the Fourth of July or built in allowances for weather delays. The airlines do suck - but it isn't always their fault.

I'm sure covid and wokeness play no small role in the chaos that is the current airline industry.

The airlines make a habit of abusing their customer base, treating them like cattle, while the airlines hold all the cards. They’ve done it for years. Don’t get angry. Don’t talk back. Don’t make a scene, or else we just might not help you. If the airlines cannot get you from Point A to Point B when they said they would, they have no business taking your money. It is not the consumer who needs to be mindful of the increased traffic at the holidays, it is the airlines. I never fly anymore. Bought an RV during Covid and have never looked back.

Number 5, an inside joke the airlines have is referring to the passengers as self loading freight.

Yesterday planes not being updated with new equipment to deal with the 5G improvements being rolled out on July 1st was the reason. This article says staff shortages and weather are the reasons.

My last flight was in November 2019, pre-plandemic. The flying experience has been deteriorating for years, even pre 9/11. From the government (FAA & TSA), the airlines treating us as cattle, to the anxiety of actually making it to your destination, it’s just a miserable ordeal start to finish. It’s too bad, I’m now retired and have time to travel, but for me the allure of even the most exotic locations doesn’t overcome the anticipated ordeal of getting there and then getting home.

I love to fly (I'm a private pilot) but I've lost all trust in the domestic commercial airline industry to safely and efficiently transport my family to and from vacation or business destinations. We now drive wherever we can. TV commercials for all US domestic carriers paint a rosier picture than what's really happening. I just wish I had the financial means to fly my entire family myself. I don't begrudge VIPs and celebrities for using private aircraft - some do abuse that privilege or publicly condemn 'global warming' while quietly and hypocritically using private transportation.
My point is I understand why they do it - time is money and for that reason you can't beat point-to-point general aviation. I just wish it was more financially accessible to the rest of us so I could permanently blow off the airlines.

Time to spare, go by air!
Looking a train accidents, flight congestion, traffic congestion, ports congestion…you would think our governments are stuck on stupid. Shelling out far too much in transfer payments, while opening our immigration doors to even more demand for transportation and transfer payments

There was a story a few nights ago on our local news about a flight in our city that had gotten delayed by 18 hours. By then, all but one passenger had made other arrangements and the one young man had the plane all to himself. Instead of scrubbing the flight, the airline called in a full crew to get him to his destination. Doesn’t seem like a profitable business plan.

My step-daughter, our son in-law and grandson were scheduled to fly home from Newark on Sunday, that was cancelled and they were booked on a Tuesday flight. That flight was cancelled and they were assigned a Thursday flight only to be told they will be getting a Wednesday flight.
Then, they were bumped off the Wednesday flight and told they would be on stand-by for the Thursday flight they had previously.
They are now driving from NY to LA.

It's not the airlines fault if the weather is bad. People who fly should know that.

Starting in the 80s, I flew a lot for work. My last corporate trip was in 2013. I saw airline travel move from comfortable seats with no one next to you to cattle cars. Nice meals were replaced by bags of peanuts. Check in went from minutes to hours. Luggage arrived at a different time than I did on more than one occasion. Never cared much for the strip search I had to endure towards the end. After 2014, I vowed never to step on a plane again. So far, so good.
