Long before the left invented “pride month,” the Catholic Church dedicated June to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a tradition originating from the 17th-century visions of Christ received by French nun St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. Enter Ross McKnight, a Louisiana Catholic father of five and owner of Backwater Foie Gras, whose business is now under attack after he made an Instagram post on Sunday commemorating the Sacred Heart of Jesus that provided his followers with ways they can protect themselves from “false pride” and counter the “attempted coup of the month of June.”

A councilwoman in a Colorado district lost her reelection bid by a wide voter margin, only a month after a video of her advocating for reparations was shared on social media. (snip) In May, CdeBaca was seen in a video in which she argued that white-owned businesses ought to be taxed more as a means of reparations which could then be distributed to minority-owned business owners.
"Capitalism was built on stolen land, stolen labors, and stolen resources," CdeBaca said at the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance.

The Toronto Blue Jays have cut pitcher Anthony Bass just over a week after he apologized for sharing a video on social media that encouraged Christians to boycott Bud Light and Target.
The decision was based mostly on performance, but “distraction” did play a role, according to Blue Jays manager Ross Atkins. Bass had previously apologized for sharing a video on Instagram that made a Biblical case against spending money to support businesses that are pushing people, particularly children, to “darkness.”

A narrative that I’ve been hearing for a while, most recently from my children, is the one that posits how much better the GOP would fare in presidential races if only it nominated “moderates.” Never mind that this hypothesis has already been tested numerous times—e.g., during the campaigns of such luminaries as the two Bush presidents, John McCain, Robert Dole, and Mitt Romney. Each time a putative moderate has received the Republican nomination and run for president, the media has pounced on that person with a vengeance, and before long these media targets are made to resemble the Grand Kleagle of the KKK

After what could generously be described as a tumultuous few months for Donald Trump, reports are now circulating that there could be a positive development for the former president.
Multiple outlets, including The Guardian and ABC News, are reporting that U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Florida Aileen Cannon has initially been tapped to oversee what many consider to be a politically motivated and spurious case against Trump. (snip) Cannon was appointed to the federal bench in 2020, as one of the last acts Trump performed as president.

California lawmakers are advancing a bill that would redefine the inability of men to get pregnant as "infertility" and entitle them to insurance-covered fertility treatments. (snip)
California Family Council director Greg Burt said: "This bill seeks to further erode the father, mother, and child nuclear family and make everyone in society pay for it to further a make-believe cause named 'fertility equality.' The reason healthy singles and same-sex couples can't reproduce has nothing to do with infertility; it has to do with biology." (snip) One of the bill's nonprofit sponsors, Men Having Babies, describes its broader goal as "to remove financial barriers to surrogacy parenting for gay men worldwide,

A recently amended California bill would classify not affirming a child’s gender identity by one or both parents as “child abuse.”
AB 957 was introduced into the California legislature by Assemblymember Lori Wilson (D-Suisun City) and state Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco). The bill rewrites much of the state’s family law and classifies “a parent’s affirmation of the child’s gender identity as part of the health, safety, and welfare of the child.”
The bill amends Section 3011 of the Family Code, which deals with child custody disputes, and requires that a court determining the “best interests” of the child must consider affirmation of transgender identity.

Top defense and military officials waded into politics on Wednesday, slamming “anti-LGBTQ” legislation at an official Department of Defense Pride Month event at the Pentagon.
“LGBTQ plus and other diverse communities are under attack, just because they are different. Hate for hate’s sake,” top DOD civilian official for personnel Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. said at the ceremony. “But we must stick together, and we must be prepared to confront any such challenge directly.”
Lt. Gen. DeAnna Burt, chief operations officer for the U.S. Space Force, suggested “anti-LGBTQ+” legislation is “dangerous” for service members:

The daily issue of Lisa DePasquale’s “Bright” political newsletter never disappoints. (snip) DePasquale highlights the findings of a study titled, “Understanding left-wing authoritarianism: Relations to the dark personality traits, altruism, and social justice commitment”:
The study published in Current Psychology suggests that left-wing extremism is associated with toxic, psychopathic tendencies and narcissism [and] found a link between higher levels of left-wing authoritarianism and higher levels of narcissism. The authors coined the term ‘dark-ego-vehicle principle’ to describe the phenomenon where individuals with dark personality traits are attracted to political and social activism as a means to satisfy their ego-focused needs rather than working towards social justice and equality.

Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri said he won’t vote for one of President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees Wednesday due to arguments she made that religious Americans were more likely to spread COVID-19. (snip) “Then why did you argue that religious services and religious people pose a greater risk of infection than people gathered to argue for defunding the police,” Hawley replied. (snip) AliKhan argued that her arguments were made after discussing the issue with epidemiologists, claiming they told her that churches posed more of a risk due to “singing.”

"It's not true. It wasn’t closed down,” William Barr told The Federalist on Tuesday in response to Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin’s claim that the former attorney general and his “handpicked prosecutor” had ended an investigation into a confidential human source’s allegation that Joe Biden had agreed to a $5 million bribe. “On the contrary,” Barr stressed, “it was sent to Delaware for further investigation.”
Former Attorney General Barr went on the record with The Federalist following statements Raskin made to the press Monday afternoon.
