Lawmakers in California are hoping to push through controversial legislation that would ban retail staff from stopping thieves stealing from their stores.
Senate Bill 553, which was submitted by Senator Dave Cortese, has been passed by the State Senate and will now progress to policy committees in the State Assembly. (snip) But some store bosses are furious about the plans, with the California Retailers Association mocking the move as an open invitation for thieves "to come in and steal."

Does this mean that I, or my fair skinned Irish family members, can shop lift in California and not be confronted? Somehow I don't think it will work that way.

Christmas in July is right around the corner. Now is the time to shop lift early for the holidays. Nobody cares, no one will stop you, no reason to pay like the idiots waiting in line to do what is right. My God, what are we doing? Stores for now, knocking down your front door is next. How is a normal law abiding citizen supposed to handle this? Just lay down and let them steal what they want? I assume grocery stores are on the list. Wouldn't take much to wipe out the fresh meat department. And we all know most are of color. But according to The View they have no good choices because life is not fair. If something does not change we are doomed.

New York says you have to give your house to the illegals and now krazyfornia says you have to give the criminals everything they can run off with. This will REQUIRE every retail store in krazyfornia to close. There is absolutely no way to survive this idiocy. Hold on governor cupcake, your world is about to explode. You won't have enough national guard to maintain order. Food stores will be cleaned out and they'll simply close their doors. Whatcha gonna do then?

I don't know of any store that forces untrained employees to confront shoplifters. It's always the other way - the shoplifter gets all the protection. Note that the bill may also be interpreted to prohibit theft prevention personnel. It's like ringing a dinner bell for a pride of lions.

If this proposal becomes the law in California the shoplifting of retail items will probably go down, as why shoplift if you can just steal the cash registers and all the cash instead as no retail staff will stop you and find that it is them who have violated the law?

We could take California back, but we'd need to bend a few rules, bust a few heads.
If SHTF nationwide, and it could happen, the chances of that happening here are not zero. Look at the "men" we'd be up against.
Stay tuned.

You're missing the point entirely. The people doing this are not stupid. They are enemies of the United States, and they are purposely inflicting these onerous measures to transfer wealth to their chosen populations. In that process, they know that such measures will eventually drive out exactly those types of people they wish to drive out, leaving themselves in complete control, one state at a time.
They have massively imported enough people to give them an absolute majority in the state government. And these people have openly expressed their intent to "retake" the land they believe was stolen from them, "La Raza" - The Race.
There is no way California or any other state should just be conceded and turned over to them. Ultimately, they may need to be retaken through military force or civil war.
No, I am not being hyperbolic. And I am not a conspiracy nut. This is the true reality of what is going on. Everybody needs to wake up and start confronting these people while they're is still time

Gutfeld had a salient thought on the theft of billions of dollars in retail stores. He said "instead of arresting the criminals and locking them up, we are locking up the merchandise they steal." Brilliant! This is one of the reasons we moved away from CA 3 years ago after living and growing up there most of our lives. These legislators are sick, sick, sick and insane. They have no reason or logic or common sense. They and the devil are in league to destroy a once great and beautiful State. It made us sad we had to leave but the Left and Gov. Mussolini (Gavin Grusome) made it impossible to live there.

If your goal was to go broke by eliminating sales tax revenue, then this would be the way to do it. California can now raise the sales tax to 100% because no one is going to pay for anything. Businesses will be right behind many citizens leaving the state. But hey, the people of California voted for these morons, so suck on it.

Has no one in California seen the movie (original version) "Magnificent Seven"?
The peasants hire the Seven to protect them from repeated raids by bandits, but learn they have to get involved in the fight, too.
However, how did the peasants get into this mess? The didn't or couldn't defend themselves, so the bandits continued to knew they were an easy target and continued to raid them. See a parallel here?

The thing that worries me about this nonsense is that the California voters who, lacking the courage of their convictions, insist on electing California's Marxist legislators and DAs, are moving to my state in droves. Maybe that's why Beto refuses to accept rejection from real Texan voters. He's betting on the insurgents from the communist-run states to shift the balance of political power in the Lone Star State, as well as the across the U.S.

Not everyone is the communist state of California votes for the leftists. Its just that California has been cheating in elections for a long time and know how to do it, much like Washington state. This along with reparations will be a quick end to the state. Then watch them beg the federal government for bail outs.

Ever notice how leftists pass laws that further control law-abiding citizens, but never to control law-breakers?
Why not pass more legislation to outlaw shoplifting?
Why not reduce the dollar thresholds for misdemeanors and felonies instead?
Why not fund more police?

Voters in CA should think about putting together a people's proposition on the 2024 ballot to dissolve the CA legislature. Just don away with it. They do nothing worthwhile for anyone and citizens would be much safer without them. The CA Supreme Court should be dissolved also. Let Newsom sit in his office and stare at the wall all day. That's about all he is good for.
