'A train wreck coming': Americans brace
for the return of student loan payments

Jamilla Vanbuckley would like to buy a home one day. A correctional counselor in New York City, Vanbuckley has been living with her parents and tucking as much money as possible into her savings account. But by late summer, she expects a new expense to enter her monthly budget – gradually paying off the $68,000 she owes in student debt. "I'm gonna have to dip into my savings to start paying back on August 29," she said, mentioning the day that payments for direct federal student loans are set to resume. "And now that kind of hinders the goals I had set for myself for the next couple of years."

It was a “loan”, Jamilla...

Let me correct you people: the people who owe student loans including parents are NOT deadbeats the loans were a means to an end to get a college education and then qualify for a decent job. Most folks are just trying to survive in Biden's economy food, gas, rent, housing, daycare. Please STOP the trash talking and smug superior attitude.

What field of study did Jamilla enter? Elizabethan Literature? Hilly Billy studies? A rich relative of mine sent her son to an expensive private university. He got a degree in political science. When he graduated the only job he could get was working in a pizza parlor. Not knocking people who work in food preparation. But, the college grad was working next to people who didn't graduate from high school.

When I was a lad, I too applied for and received student loans for a liberal arts college I briefly attended outside of Los Angeles. But I wasn't ready for college, so I dropped out after 1 semester. I bummed around for about 10 years, working low paying jobs, but I paid back the loans I was responsible for. I came to my senses and decided to return to school to get a degree. Only this time, I worked my way through school, no loans. Once I graduated, I got a job in the medical field, where I have been since 1995. I have worked full time in this field, and I make a good living. Liberal Arts degrees are fine, if you want to teach in a small college somewhere. But a liberal arts education is the path of least resistance. Many people choose this path because they don't have to work that hard to get the degree. But the degree programs are expensive. You have to work hard, and put your time in to make a decent living. That's the ultimate lesson. Unfortunately, they don't seem to teach that lesson in college.

The article says the monthly student loan bill averages $160 a month. I'm going to go out on a limb here and bet that every one of these wanna be free loaders have cable TV, cell phones, acrylic nails, hair extensions, tattoos and hit Starbucks or it's equivalent at least once a day. The cost of those items can add up to a lot more than $160 a month. So what we have here is this loan is absolutely repayable if those who owe the money eliminate just a few of the above items they would have no problem paying the debt back.

Another solution might be considered. Suppose that all institutions that received the monies funded by loans simply forgave them. In most cases they possess the endowments to do so. This act must, however, be accompanied by refunds of tuition payments to all of those poor schmucks who paid without taking loans.

Since when is borrowing money, signing a promissory note and fulfilling your obligation to repay the loan a "train wreck"? Up until now a "loan" meant a temporary arrangement that the loaner expected to get back. I have no sympathy for anyone who borrows money to finance in many cases a worthless degree or anyone who borrows money to get an education and expects the general public...many of whom do NOT have a college take the hit. If you're not already living in your parent's basement, move in and pay your debt.

#3 should take over Jamilla's student loan so Jamilla could use her savings to buy a house. She signed a Student Loan Promissory Note, a contract with the FED, "to suck it up" and PAY no matter what the economic condition or who is running the country. She should thank Doorknob Hussein for taking over the student loan from the commercial bank to avoid dealing with the gangster collection agencies.

What is sad is for the last three years a borrower could still make payments. These loans were in a non-accrual status. So any payments made would go against the loan with no interest charges. These alleged college educated folks had the opportunity to pay down a portion of their debt interest free. Of course they thought Biden was going to forgive their debts so why bother.

I paid for all my grad school expenses 100% myself by working two jobs, and additional job in the summer. I never even considered loans. If I was short on money...I got some work repairing cars for a bit, or other odd jobs. I pieced it all together from mechanic work, gas station work, construction work and working for the university as a research assistant. I was fortunate that my parents could afford the $2250 total per year that my undergrad education cost. Anything that went over that, I paid from my summer jobs earnings, or I did without. Driving a worn out 12 year old VW gave me plenty of time to learn to repair my car using used parts from a junkyard because new parts were just out of reach in cost.

The first rule of Federal Indictment Club is: you don’t talk about your case. And the second rule of Federal Indictment Club is: you don’t talk about your case, period. You hire a good lawyer or two and let them talk about your case in public. The surest way to help the prosecution is to go on television and make a damaging admission about the key element of a charge. Sort of like … this: TRUMP: ‘We never got this stuff, this back. Can we please, please, could we have it back?’ BAIER: And they did ask for it? TRUMP: [crosstalk] They have no — no — BAIER: And

Fox News Channel's Bret Baier told former President Donald Trump during a contentious interview that aired Monday night that he was the loser of the 2020 election - something the 2024 Republican hopeful still denies. The back-and-forth continued to get heated when Baier asked Trump how he would be able to recruit good people to work for him at the White House for a second term. Baier noted how in recent days Trump had called former Attorney General Bill Barr a 'gutless pig' and said his ex-Chief of Staff John Kelly was 'born with a [very] small brain.'

Biden regime spokesditz Karine Jean-Pierre wants you to know that she is very, very important, and that she is working with other important people who are doing important things. “This is a historic administration,” she announced in a new interview. “I’m a historic figure, and I certainly walk in history every day.” And for once, Jean-Pierre has said something that is entirely true: she is indeed a historic figure who will be remembered long after she has stopped lying and gaslighting the American people with half-baked regime talking points, ineptly delivered. She will be remembered as the most public and obvious indication ever of the wrongheadedness
