Nate Cohn: Every generation of voters

This popped up at the NY Times Thursday but I didn’t see it until this morning. It has long been considered a truism that voters move right as they age. But as Nate Cohn points out, there had recently been some studies disputing that claim: Political folklore has long held that voters become more conservative as they get older. But it is nonetheless at odds with a wave of recent reports or studies suggesting otherwise. The Financial Times, for instance, wrote that “millennials are shattering the oldest rule in politics” by not moving to the right as they age. Similarly, the Democratic data firm Catalist found that Democrats essentially haven’t

When I was young I was a democrat, I think I even voted for George McGovern (shudder). Now I am MAGA and huge Trump supporter. We get older and wiser with age, most definitely.

It is because Dems aren't growing up as they get older. A government which provides them with ever more expensive free stuff shields them from the need to mature let alone think.

From 18 years on I was always conservative. I have ancestors who fought in all the wars this country has engaged in...from my ggg grandfather who was Elijah Clarke’s adjutant, killed by the British protecting the White House Inn in the 1780 siege of Augusta. Nobody knows history anymore. They think tearing down historical statues make them feel good but they are nothing but despicable losers. They will never have a decent job...just juvenile ignorant losers.

I've been conservative starting about age 15 when I asked my mother what Communism was, was absolutely incredulous that anyone could be so stupid as to believe the obvious nonsense that is Communism. As I got older and gained more education, my gut feelings were solidified. Leftism is deranged thinking, it has always been clear to me.

Right with you, #4, agree with all you said. I've always spent time reading and trying to understand history. It tells us so much about human nature. Societies change, cultures change, technologies change - but human nature does not change. The same things that motivated the Greeks and the Romans, and on down the line, still motivate humans today. Leftists are ignorant losers, and don't understand human nature in the slightest if they spout that "from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs" nonsense. Have they never grasped laziness or greed?

The writer is confusing terms and concepts here. As individuals, we grow wiser and more conservative as we age. As a society, we have many more young and dumb people than we have older (shall I say 40+ people) so as mainstream America, we have leftist idiots in greater numbers, so it looks like the whole country continues to lean left. Democrats recognize this, that's why all of the giveaway, no-work solutions are implemented for the purpose of buying votes from what is now the majority. Many leftists become completely satisfied with being parasites to productive working taxpayers, thus the proliferation of leftist media, shows like The View and leftist academia where people stagnate in a comfortable environment where their ideas are not recognized as stupid.

This observation is much more true now because of all the students who receive twelve to sixteen years of socialist indoctrination before they are released to the world.

Millennials aren't old enough yet or far enough removed from the brain washing schools to become conservative. In addition, many still have kids in brain washing schools and therefore the original brainwashing is to a certain extent reenforced. However, recent events have shown that when it comes to certain kind of brainwashing, millennials will fight back with a conservative message. Such as the Virginia school board meetings and the Virginia governor's election.

If Bud Light sales continue to lag, the brand risks losing shelf space at major retailers to competitors and 'locking in' lower market share, a former Anheuser-Busch executive has claimed. In recent weeks, Bud Light sales have been down roughly a quarter from a year ago, as the brand faces conservative backlash over an April marketing deal with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Anson Frericks, the former US president of sales and distribution for St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, said that retailers such as Walmart and Kroger typically 'reset' their shelf space allocations in the spring and fall, based on sales data. For the fall reset in September, 'they generally

Walt Disney’s Pixar Animation Studios has cut 75 jobs, including two executives behind Lightyear, a woke revisionist take on a beloved Toy Story character that ended up being a box-office failure. Sources told Reuters of the job cuts on Saturday, which mark the first major job eliminations at the legendary studio in ten years. Lightyear director Angus MacLane had worked at Pixar as an animator for 26 years. He was part of the senior creative team on films like Toy Story 4 and Coco. Lightyear producer Galyn Susman had been at Pixar since the release of the original Toy Story film in 1995, according to Reuters’ sources. Additionally, Michael Agulnek, Pixar’s

A Vermont school district has agreed to settle out of court with a $125,000 payment to a family that district officials punished over their criticism of a boy the district allowed to use the girls’ locker rooms at the school. Last year, a coach objected to rules set by Randolph Union Middle School in Vermont, where a teen boy who claimed to be a “transgender girl” was allowed to “creep out” girls in the girls’ locker rooms. The situation escalated when the school’s girls’ soccer coach, Travis Allen, complained to district officials that the boy was causing the real girls to feel uncomfortable.

While Florida Governor Ron DeSantis "proudly" considers his state the place "woke goes to die," rival former President Donald Trump said many people don't even know what the term means. The contenders for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination have been trading jabs over the past few days regarding the term "woke," which has become a politically charged word in recent years. DeSantis frequently uses the term—even campaigning on a pledge to eradicate "woke ideology." His ongoing war against "woke" includes Florida's Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees (W.O.K.E.) Act, which DeSantis introduced in 2021 and signed into law last year. The law, according to the Governor's Office, gives businesses,

Last June, the Daily Wire debuted Matt Walsh’s What Is A Woman? Throughout the movie, Walsh politely asks both conservatives and leftists, especially leftists with medical degrees, “What is a woman?” The answers from the left are astonishing and revealing. Leftists boycotted the movie but, now, thanks to a really stupid move by leftists formerly employed at Twitter (who tried to block a 24-hour free window for the movie), the Streisand effect has sent the movie’s viewership into the stratosphere. I won’t re-review What Is A Woman?, which I wrote about a year ago. The short version is that the movie is superb. Today, as the battle over

WASHINGTON — With just two days to spare, President Joe Biden signed legislation on Saturday that lifts the nation’s debt ceiling, averting an unprecedented default on the federal government’s debt. It was a decidedly low-key denouement to a monthslong drama that unnerved financial markets at home and abroad and caused anxious retirees and social service organizations to make contingency plans in case the country was unable to pay all its bills. Instead of holding a public ceremony with lawmakers from both parties — showcasing the bipartisanship that Biden had cited in an Oval Office address on Friday evening
