The team planned to use a little league field to represent the childhood background, apple pie and Americana image. However, fearing backlash from Floria Republicans who are not happy with the deceptive 2022 gubernatorial campaign, in combination with a much larger polling of support for candidate Donald Trump, the DeSantis organizers cancelled the event. If he can't go to the state he is governor of because of cowardice, how on earth can the voters expect him to handle the really nasty stuff happening worldwide as our president? Ron, if your Bush team is telling you to cut and run from your own state, they have a vested interest in torpedoing you and your chances. Frankly, I don't blame your state's voters for feeling like they are nothing more than place holders in your political aspirations.

I fear something terrible is about to happen. It makes no sense for DeSantis to announce unless he is banking on the misfortune of President Trump. The military age male Chinese are crossing the border unabated, 30,000 tons of ammonium nitrate disappear from the rail line, and the Congressional leadership team is issued satellite phones. Something bad is about to go down.

They should have stuck with that idea. His roll out was a disaster. We couldn't see him and he sounded flat and uninspiring. He's going to have to get some coaching on being more enthusiastic and inspiring. I think he's a great governor, but when he's up against Trump's charisma and authenticity, he doesn't have a chance.

Full disclosure. I did not watch the announcement but I honestly would not want to see anyone crash and burn like this except a democrat, of course. It is apparent DeSantis is getting very bad advice and now I am beginning to believe the GOPe is trying to tank him themselves. If the people of Florida are that upset about him breaking his promise that they canceled his hometown launch, that is not good. This was a shame. He could have had such a promising career if he had just had patience and kept his word. If he continues in this vein, he will have ended his presidential aspirations before they even got off the ground. #3, I believe you are on to something. Pray for President Trump’s safety. God help us all.

Too Funny Sundance. Nice Try. We saw those "Republicans" (how do you know they WERE Republicans) being interviewed on the local news, all 12 of them! Our Governor is LOVED here in Florida. So anyone who planned to appear at a Little League field to protest would only have taken up one Bench! No Worries! Florida is a safe space for Governor DeSantis!

If this is true then his campaign will be a disaster. If he can't do a public event in his hometown because he is afraid of people showing up that don't support him he is ill prepared to battle it out for the presidency. This isn't his time....I wish the governor would have decided to be patient and sit this one out.

Arizona Republican Kari Lake is launching a grassroots “ballot-chasing” operation to boost Republican turnout in future Arizona elections and “paint the state red.” “We’re going to start rolling up our sleeves and playing by the same rules [Democrats] play by,” Lake said while surrounded by supporters at a May 23 press conference in Phoenix. “And when you get a fed-up mom who plays by those rules, watch out, because we’re not letting this happen again,” she added. IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel told Congress the Justice Department (DOJ) made the decision to purge an IRS whistleblower from the DOJ’s probe into Hunter Biden, according to a letter sent to House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-MO). Werfel’s letter on May 17 responded to Smith’s May 16 inquiry about concerns that a high-ranking IRS agent faced retaliation for raising red flags about alleged political interference in the tax probe of Hunter Biden. Werfel said the decision to remove a whistleblower from the tax investigation was at the DOJ’s direction, confirming what a second IRS whistleblower alleged Monday.

You need to be able to balance it. You will not accept a border security and recognizing pathways to legal entry [bill]? … When the late [Sen. ] John McCain, we had a very strong comprehensive bill

The House voted on May 23 to overturn the Biden administration’s rule on heavy-duty vehicles’ tailpipe emissions, the latest knock against the president’s environmental agenda in a closely divided Congress and the forerunner to an expected Biden veto. The short piece of legislation would roll back a rule submitted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for trucks in December 2022. The rule, which can be read here, “sets stronger emissions standards to further reduce air pollution, including pollutants that create ozone and particulate matter, from heavy-duty vehicles and engines starting in model year 2027,” according to the EPA.

The British government stopped providing security after Harry, the younger son of King Charles III, and his wife, the former actress Meghan Markle, quit their royal duties and moved to California in 2020. It then rejected his offer to pay for protection when he visits home. A lawyer for the government argued in court that it was not appropriate to allow hiring “police officers as private bodyguards for the wealthy.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., slammed the Supreme Court's ruling Thursday that limited the Environmental Protection Agency's ability to regulate bodies of water, calling it a "MAGA" court even though the decision was 9-0. On Thursday, the high court issued an opinion that narrowed the EPA's broad definition of Waters of the United States (WOTUS). The court said the federal government must define WOTUS as a water source with a "continuous surface connection" to major bodies of water. The decision upended an attempt by the Biden administration to regulate wetlands, lakes, ponds, streams and other "relatively permanent" waterways, which had relied on a broad reading of the EPA's authority

As of early trading on Thursday, however, shares of the company were trading off 1% at $141.76 — capping a weeklong tumble that has shrunk the “cheap chic” discount retailer’s value to $65.3 billion. That amounts to a 12% drop that has shaved a whopping $9 billion off the company’s market capitalization.

The current reports of executive branch illegality make Watergate look like kindergarten mischief. It is clear from the Durham report and the work of House Republican hearings that the current scandals in the Biden White House – and senior bureaucracies at the Justice Department, IRS, and elsewhere – are much deeper and more cancerous than Watergate ever was. It may be hard to remember, but Watergate came about due to a weird, dumb, and fairly narrow set of criminal behaviors which mushroomed into 69 officials being indicted and 48 imprisoned. I remember Watergate vividly, because I first ran for Congress in 1974 during the Watergate scandal.
