After working hard to keep Ron DeSantis from entering the presidential primary at all, Donald Trump now is trying to make the case that the Florida governor has no chance of winning.
Trump might believe it – though his barrage of attacks against DeSantis suggests otherwise. But anyone who thinks that the Republican primaries are over long before they even get started needs a lesson in history.
When news broke earlier this week about DeSantis’ plan to enter the race, Trump immediately posted a series of links

I sure hope this can stay uplifting and encouraging. It is bad enough with the other side and the vile things they say about Republicans. I am concerned because look at how many articles there were about Ron Desantis' unsuccessful campaign launch. As I recall, Truth Social had a rocky start too. Please, Republicans, do not resort to immature infighting. . .

I'm with you, but I'm afraid that ship has sailed. The name calling started before the 2022 midterms.
I have my preferences, but there is a year before I cast a vote in the primary. I intend to hear them out, and make a decision when I vote. In the meantime, I intend to remain intellectually honest. For example, I'm not blaming DeSantis for a bad rollout. He's not responsible for twitter.

Deep State wishful thinking. Trump is the only Republican that can turn this around, but the MSM has been directed to write about infighting instead of the present state of our Nation.

The claim is that Trump resorts to personal attacks. The fact is, Rove led antiTrump or anti anyone tactics involve planted stories to raise the other guys negatives. That’s what he does. This week it’s Trump is too old and unelectable. Next week will be something else. Trump responds or preempts .
Karl Rove and Bushies have always done this. The goal is to block trump, whether or not it helps DeSantis. The establishment will move from DeSantis to someone else as long as it is a warm body they control.

You might want to rethink the "bad rollout" thingy. Having TOO MANY people wanting to hear what he has to say and thus totally overloading the system is anything but a bad rollout for a candidate.

If Donald Trump is not the GOP candidate I could support Ron DeSantis. BUT: Trump did make America great again and would have easily been reelected if the election was fair and honest. Also, the coziness between DeSantis and the Bushies makes me wonder if his priority is America First or Globalist First.

You’d like to think the nevertrumpers behind the curtain at DeSAntis land were a little more competent. For now I’ll stick with the private sector guy who says stuff and does stuff and accomplishes stuff.

This is all RINO hogwash. Kangaroo courts, distracting 'trials' nothing is going to stop Trump if he wants it. There are two clear divisions here. The Wall Street globalist moneybags, Bushie/RINO Establishment are on the side of DeSantis. The entire rank and file Republican base desperately wants the Donlad.

Bottom line is the Left will do anything, lie, cheat, steal to win. The Right will do everything, whine, cry foul, threaten, to lose. If there ever was a time to come together to defeat evil, now was the time. Instead, egos and the desire for power has once again prevailed. I am fed up with them all and so I will continue to make sure I do not need any of them. I have Jesus, a wife of 54 yrs, a great great family and plenty of like minded friends. I had hoped better for my kids but they will be fine, no matter what ego-maniac wins in 24.

Politically and policy-wise, Trump and DeSantis are essentially on the same page. Yet, we have two very high-profile candidates hell-bent on destroying each other over the coming months. This should do a pretty good job of splitting the pubbie party in half for good and will ensure that Amerika gets uber-commie dim presidents going forward. MAGA-Trumpers and Never-Trumpers, apparently you are ok with this?
Your divide and conquer strategy is working perfectly so far. Right deep state and msm?

So the new definition of 'wide open' is: ignore the overwhelming popularity of the main candidate who already held the job and led the country to unprecedented peace an prosperity and instead elevate a handful of lesser names to pretend all have similar voter support? Article probably ghost written by Karl Rove.

This article is hog wash! The repuke primary race is NOT wide open...rds is not going to be a factor. He is a great governor, but no better than many other repuke governors who do not aim to be potus. He is a smuck, money sucking swamp creature tied to the big money guys who will kiss butt to be favored by them. They will use him as long as they can...rds has less personality than jeb bush. This article is pure sappy rhetoric to push a failure to launch.

#11, So what is the solution, and that is a sincere question. Who has the bonafides to be elected? And when elected who will keep his promises? You know I am a strong supporter of President Trump and I know the primary is going to get nasty. However, I just can’t do what I have always done and that is to vote for the GOPe preferred candidate especially when we have all seen the results of an outsider who understands the game both parties plays to the detriment of the country and its people and wants better. He achieved that during his administration despite the slings and arrows coming at him 24/7. DeSantis is just not going to persuade me that he is the guy, not with the donor class as his main source of funding. Whereas the majority of Trump’s funding is coming from everyday Americans. The question hanging out there that needs an answer is why is DeSantis running now? He said he would not run if Trump was running. He promised the people of Florida that he would serve his full term as their governor. What or who changed his mind? We need a united party to defeat the destroyers. Why throw a wrench in the gears when it was unnecessary? DeSantis was a shoe in as the nominee for Vice President if he wanted it. They would be a powerful force and that is what is needed to rid ourselves of these democrat Marxists. Is four years to wait just too much? I honestly just don’t get it. The only common sense answer is that DeSantis was sent out by the GOPe to destroy Trump. They do hate him as much as democrats because he understands their part in the destruction of the country. They have been gaming the system for decades if not longer. They know Trump will not ignore what they have done.
I am staying with Trump because I trust him and I cannot say that about DeSantis. I do not trust him because of the company he keeps. The people he “owes”, plus I believe he is disloyal. Trump gave him the leg up he needed in order to win the Governorship. That would mean something to me. How could you walk away from that guy when you watched him battle an unmerciful mob every single day and still managed to be the most successful President in modern history. I sincerely am flummoxed by his decision. Would a person of good character do that?

It is incredibly stupid for Desantis and Trump to fight each other. They are supposed to be on the same side. Its obvious they should be working together. Trump for Prez, Desantis for vice and then Desantis for Prez the next time

11. No they aren't and that is the problem. Trump is a populist, America first, American jobs, wages etc. We saw the impact on the success of the middle class during his economy. As a populist he made clear that the political class and the deep state, crony capitalism, global not national priorities must be repudiated and turned back, as has been made clear since the rise of the T party movement.
De Santis is raising money from that old guard, antiPopulist Anti Trump Bushie Globalist Rockefeller wing of the republican party. A political class with trickle down big government priorities. Too invested to fight the marxism of Obama and the existing tyranny.
They are not the same.

To this day, President Trump has done what he said he was going to do, therefore I trust him. Initially, I was thrilled with the emergence of Ron Desantis in Florida, however he has already gone back on what he said he was going to do. Therefore, it's a tough sell for me to trust him, especially considering the company he keeps. That is, he is in cahoots with people who have lied through their teeth to the American Public over decades and somehow expect us to believe and support them, or their candidates. No thanks. Been there, done that.

Can anyone here post a list of The Governor's Donors? Everyone seems to know where the money is coming from so I assume you could post that for the Rest of us to see. I live in Florida and I haven't seen a single article in Local papers with the name of donors for Gov. DeSantis. Also, I almost laughed when I saw #14 question Governor DeSantis's Character. Are we really going to go there? Do we want to put him up against Trump's Character? Oh My!

DeSantis allowed his ego to overwhelm his common sense. It was political suicide.
If DeSantis had sat this one out and been a very vocal supporter of Donald Trump in 2024, he would have inherited the support and money of the massive Trump voting block in 2028 -- as well as the support and money from Trump himself. He would have been unstoppable. Now he is going to lose the primary to Trump, and Trump's base voters are going to remember what he did and be looking for a solid conservative to support in 2028 who they don't see as a backstabber.
Of course, I will vote for whoever the Republican is on election day (because I honestly don't think our republic can survive 4 more years of Senile Joe bidet's unelected Communist puppet masters doing everything they can to destroy us). But if it is anyone but Trump, I will do so holding my nose while trying not to vomit while I do so.
