Walmart's decision to shutter four Chicago stores has drawn ire of elected officials representing the Windy City. In a rae press release on April 11 announcing store closures, Walmart said bluntly that these stores "have not been profitable since we opened the first one nearly 17 years ago." "These stores lose tens of millions of dollars a year, and their annual losses nearly doubled in just the last five years," the company said. "The remaining four Chicago stores continue to face the same business difficulties, but we think this decision gives us the best chance to help keep them open

Yes, it is unethical, members of minorities have a right to shoplift millions a dollar from stores as reparations for things that never happened to them.

Everyone knows it’s unethical to object to being robbed, looted and vandalized by those “less fortunate “ than you.

I think I remember Chicago arguing about 20 years ago that they didn't want any Walmarts in the city limits.

I don't even feel sorry for Wal-Mart in this one.
Any business that decides to be "woke" and build in high-crime areas (like most of Chicago) are in a lose-lose situation. If they stay, they will shoplifted and robbed blind and lose tons of money. If they get tired of it and leave, they are just being "racist" (which is a much simpler way of saying what they mean when they say "unethical").
Just ignore them and do what is best for your stockholders and customers that actually buy from you (not steal your blind)!!!!!

These same people have backed a reckless government that is responsible for why Walmart is leaving. Their abandonment of enforcing the law is the issue. Walmart didn't need to lose money while leaving their employees in danger.

Huh? Business has no obligation to the "hood"... just ask the man who used to sell his wares out of a covered wagon back in the early 1900's. If too many kids were stealing his goods from his wagon, he moved to a better neighborhood. Simple solution. QED

When the city gives shoplifters the right to steal from such stores, what did they think the store owners would do? Roll out the red carpet?

Everyone knows why these stores are closing including the whining politicians. Looting and shoplifting have become accepted forms of supposed Black protest. There are no consequences except for the stores taking the loss. This is the result. To any citizen complaining about Walmart, I have one question. Who did you vote for?

These people deserve all stores in their areas to close - stealing Democrats all. These politicians should risk their capital and re-open the stores - see how well that goes

Real simple - those who are whinging (British word) should just guarantee Walmart a 5% profit, out of their own pockets, not those of the few taxpayers remaining.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the natural progression of events that got us here and take a forward peek around the corner.
• Soros supports Kim Fox she gets elected and controls the DA office covering several million people
• She refuses to prosecute looters
• Looters do more looting because free stuff comes with no risk
• The looted vamoose
• The looters stray beyond the safe zone of Kim Fox, not fully appreciating that they got special
treatment they won't get elsewhere
• Looters are shocked at the prospects of consequences
• Mambypamby suburban voters for the first time get to live the policies they have been voting for and
don't like it in their back yards.

So Chicago liberals come face to face with corporate pragmatism. The city of Chicago coddles criminals, creating a revolving door for the hordes of shoplifters but Walmart is supposed to look the other way and continue losing money? Maybe Chicago voters will take a hard look at how, and who, they vote for in the future. That said, I don't think anything will change. Liberals have a history of continuing their harmful policies choosing instead to pass the buck when it comes to accountability.

I don't know if it acceptable to post a link within the comment section so instead of a link, I'll just post the headline from last night's news on Fox32: "6 televisions stolen from Chatham Walmart set to close". And local politicians don't understand why Walmart finally left?
