A Miami judge declined to block Florida’s 15-week abortion ban, HB 5, on Friday in a lawsuit brought by clergy members of several different faiths.
The clergy members — three rabbis, a Unitarian Universalist minister, an Episcopal Church priest, a Buddhist lama, and a United Church of Christ reverend — filed separate lawsuits against the State of Florida in August claiming that the law violates their rights to freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Those lawsuits have since been consolidated into one case.
The clergy members argue in their complaint that the law puts them “at risk of prosecution for counseling women, girls, and families to obtain an abortion

Note well that these "clergy members" are all ultra-liberal secularists and have no connection whatsoever to the inspired dictates of sacred truth.

Isn't clergy's job to save souls and lives?

Ah, the old "holy men" trick. Glad to see it didn't work this time. Prolly should have added a shaman as well.

Why would they take that stand unless their girlfriends or mistresses occasionally need an abortion? Anybody who condones murder in any form works for the other side.

They put themselves at risk with God. Only clergy of the great and abominable church would choose death over life and evil over good. They have combined their lawsuits and are one united against the very truths they are supposed to support. They are leading their congregations to hell-not ignorantly, but willfully. In this matter, we should judge and condemn. This is no longer a matter of right and wrong-it’s wrong from the very beginning.

Not surprised to see my former denomination signed on to this. Abortion is considered a blessing in the Episcopal church and will probably in the near future become one of its sacraments.

Groundless and should be dismissed 'with prejudice' so that the case cannot be re-litigated. Nothing in the Florida law puts someone at risk for counselling another to get an abortion. Abortion is still available outside of Florida and I am sure Planned Parenthood will loan you the money if you need one.

Rabbis? No legitimate Jew would condone abortion, let alone counsel in its favor. Judaism holds that life is sacred.
The correct translation of the Hebrew Old Testament is: "Thou shalt not commit murder".
Abortion is murder!

Argued on the grounds of "Freedom of speech". Never knew that killing someone was a form of speech. If abortion is a form of free speech, then robbing banks, rape, you name it, are forms of free speech. And I suppose in the most perverted of minds, it makes sense.

I wonder if they are the same affiliations that are trafficking the illegal aliens in. I know on Governor Inslee Webpage. It has listed the religious groups who are bringing iin busloads from the border.. there is also information on legal services, Social Services, financial help etc. Very interesting read.

Are any of these “clergy” women? If not, I fail to see standing. On the claims, we have haws against murder, and no fool has claimed these laws violate freedom of speech. We have laws against murder, and even adherents of islamic law are subject to them.

FTA...'the law violates their rights to freedom of speech and freedom of religion....and also FTA...'“at risk of prosecution for counseling... someone who aids and abets the crime.”'
Could this sort of reasoning also be used as an argument against those states which have passed laws making it illegal to counsel children against becoming homosexual? Allinsky's Rules for Radicals number 4..make the enemy live up to their own book of rules, or in this case their own arguments.

I knew I'd find an Episcopalian on that wretched roster. Why do these people like killing babies so much?
#13, IIRC the "abortion is a blessing" was the opinion of one vile higher-up - a seminary leader, if you can believe it. It is not official ECUSA doctrine...yet.
