A growing number of states and cities are considering or implementing bans for the future construction of not just gas stoves, but natural gas hookups themselves, a move that would raise costs for consumers and potentially have negative environmental consequences, natural gas advocates told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Lawmakers in the state of Minnesota introduced legislation Wednesday that would permit the state’s Commissioner of Labor and Industry to amend the state’s energy code to “mitigate the impact of climate change,” a directive that could be used to justify a ban on natural gas, according to the free-market Minnesota think-tank Center of the American Experiment.

How many people will freeze because they won't be able to afford electric heat?? We had a partial electric heat many years ago and couldn't even begin to afford the electric bill. Yes I know propane and natural gas has gotten out of hand, but it is still cheaper than electric to heat a house. My hot water heater is gas and cost a fraction of what it would if it was electric. At my age I no longer wish to heat with wood (we did for many years), but having our choices taken away, we will go back to wood.

Gas heating is the back-up when the electrical grid fails. By all means, remove any way for people to survive when the wind farms freeze and the solar panels are snowed over.

The goal is to put natural gas companies out of business by reducing their number of customers to such as a low level that they fold. During the last artic blast some electric power companies couldn't supply the demand and simply shut the electricity off to many customers. Some homes can't convert to all electric. The demoncraps are determined to kill us all.

Not the first time. My first house was built in Rochester NY during a gas ban. The furnace was undersized and in the winter, literally ran non-stop. I bought 2 kerosene heaters and heated the entire house for far less cash than using the electric fireplace.

It would be interesting to see what these lawmakers use in their own homes for heating and cooking.
What does the White House and all the other Government buildings use? Remove all forms of natural gas, coal and oil during the winter months and see how these folks act, especially when the wind turbines and solar power supplies fail.

When the electricity goes off you will freeze and eat cold canned beans. Welcome to green energy. How long before they try and ban propane sales?

Where I live, most homes outside of the city proper use propane. I visited some of these homes. They doing fine and dandy without NG.

Gas is the VERY BEST and MOST EFFICIENT and cleanest fuel. Stoves and ovens are essentially 100% efficient. Furnaces are about 97% efficient if you get the more expensive models. The cheaper ones are still 87% efficient, very good.
And gas requires NO emissions equipment to be exceptionally clean burning.
CO2 is NOT a "pollutant" it is plant food, and necessary for life on Earth.

They really are trying to kill us!
Curious where they think enough electricity will come from! Certainly not solar and wind in MN.
