Are Whiteboards Racist?

On one hand, college must be a breeze these days, since actually learning something no longer appears to be a requirement on many campuses. On the other hand, when institutions of higher education are on perpetual crusades against racism, sexism, and whatever other “isms” are currently in vogue, the list of potential targets will inevitably grow short. That, of course, is bad for business. After all, no one wants to get all geared up for the Two Minutes Hate with their best piercings and signs, only to find that the mass hysteria has been canceled for lack of something to protest.

Okay, so we use blackboards and white chalk. When the chalk is used to write something on the blackboard, wont that mean white suppression of blackness? If so, then we bring back greenboards and white chalk. Then when we use the white chalk on the greenboard to write something, wont that still mean white suppression of individuals such as Marvin the Martian? Golly Gee, if you look hard enough at something you can imagine something racist, then maybe you are the racist, right!

For God's sake, these people stay up nights just trying to find something racist, or homophobic, or white supremist about everything in exisitence these days. I guess the color of my dog, my car or my house will be next! Enough already!

White is its color describing it. Deal with it. Sad all this fight against -isms is just setting up young folks for a rude real world awakening when they finally join it. College life is not the real world! The world is not the way the liberals are trying to paint it.

Should we call them "Caucasian Boards," instead?

Before we saw whiteboards, all schools used blackboards and white chalk. Whiteboards and colored markers were a better solution so in a competitive free market they eventually replaced blackboards. Enough said.

Wouldn't black ink on white paper be retaliatory racism then? Oh I'm sorry that would be Black Power!
And all tabloids are anti-Asian since they practice Yellow Journalism!

What is disgusting is that anyone even gives credence to this crap, going so far as to steal taxpayer dollars to support these evil attempts to destroy the fabric of our society. They are evil scammers.

What nonsense. Making color all about race is simply contrived. Color can represent social class, such as "blue bloods" and "rednecks." The color black can be representative of wealth or high formality, e.g., limousines, black-tie banquets, wedding tuxedos, black lace, black pearls, men's and women's suits, patent leather shoes, dress shoes, business profits ("we/re in the black"), "black gold" (oil), etc.

They are a way of presenting and displaying complex problems. I will defy anybody of any color to pass a math exam involving a LaPlace Transform without seeing it written on a "colored" board first. BTW, white is a color and black is not as if that means anything.

Wow! I am 91 years old and white. I earned degrees in physics and math, including a PhD. Like all my contemporaries, I never used a whiteboard (or even a greenboard) until they were installed in university classrooms where I taught. I preferred blackboards and had one in my study, where my son learned to read playing school with his sister. He also earned a mathematics degree. I once worked in the Whitehouse (a racist venue?) and was the first person to install a blackboard in my office there. Enough with this nonsense!

They must be expert contortionists to be able to twist things like this. There's just no way to avoid offending them, when the mere fact that we ever existed offends them. So we might as well just be true to our beliefs.

When I was in school, we had blackboards. They were jet black. So the white chalk would show.
