Former President Donald Trump is calling for the Chinese spy balloon floating over the United States to be shot down.
“SHOOT DOWN THE BALLOON!” Trump posted on Truth Social Friday morning, after the Pentagon confirmed Thursday evening that a Chinese spy balloon had been floating over the U.S. for several days.
Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said in a statement Thursday:
The United States government has detected and is tracking a high-altitude surveillance balloon that is over the continental United States right now. The U.S. government, to include NORAD, continues to track and monitor it closely.

So...this is not the first time - and (fta:) “We have communicated to them the seriousness with which we take this issue..."
Ah, yes - the 'strongly worded letter' has been issued.
Nothing to see here - go on about your business.

I have seen stupidity in my long life, but not this much.
That balloon should have been destroyed IMMEDIATELY! Do you think Xi would allow us to float a balloon over his Taiwan invasion preparation???
This is simply INCREDIBLE! Stupidity abounds!

I cannot understand why there is so much bellyaching over the media? The military should have taken care of it swiftly, instead of letting it gather more info ( if it is a spy balloon)

One reason they're reluctant to shoot that Balloon down is it could have some kind of "COVID" in it and the whole country would be sick again. Shoot it down over the Mountains or Water would be the way to go! Anyway, that's what I heard on TV this morning!

Balloons are not like other aircraft, put a hole in them they sink verry slowly, can be recovered to find out EXACTLY what the attached equipt has captured, what it was designed to capture, who made it, how/if it communicated, with whom it did so. If it was/is steerable...it can only be done by elevation changes into different atmospheric wind flows. Other headlines are all about "Unusual, Once in a LIFETIME Arctic winds carry polar weather to TEXAS!!!" Obviously the balloon was in the same Air. If it was tracking/testing temps/composition/pollution and was launched from China it will show just how much "Man Made Global Warming pollution" came from china...and traveled to the North American Continent, because IT traveled with it. Leave it in the sky and track it, it will show exactly where all of the pollution caused from China spreads to. Use that data "Scientifically" to debunk the Biden agenda of forcing US/Canadian/N American people into alterations of OUR energy/farming/living/manufacturing/cooking/driving practices. Leave it up there long enough it will show where those same Chinese pollutants travel into and over Europe.

A smart leader would shoot them down once over our soil then keep and deny them so it doesn't get in the news. That would be in older times now it would be in the news within an hour. Losers and frauds are running the show.

Has Senile Joe bidet allowed this spy balloon to float in our air space for 4 days now because:
1) He is too weak and senile to be able to actually be able to comprehend what this means and take the most basic of action to defend US sovereignty,
Or
2) The Chinese paid him (and probably Hunter too) way too much money to hem and haw and make excuses for letting them collect data and set precedence.
Sadly, it is probably a combination of both!!!

A family friend, a Naval Aviator at the time, was on alert in Key West not too long after the Cuba missile crisis flying lead of a pair of Phantom fighters, fully armed with radar guided and heat seeking missiles. One of our balloons, which was tethered at something like 15,000 ft to increase the range of it's radar broke loose from the mooring and started drifting. Not only was the balloon a hazard to aircraft, but it was trailing 3 miles of stout steel cable below it....which would likely slice the wing off of an aircraft that flew into it.
So, the scrambled the pair of Phantoms with orders to shoot it down....fortunately over the ocean so no risk to people. The got the balloon on radar, and launched, IIRC, a Sparrow missile at it. It was a perfect shot, and the pilot later told the story that the missile detonated against the radar equipment inside the large white balloon envelope and "looked like a big light bulb in the sky for a second".
If we could shoot them down 60 years ago, we could shoot this one down, too, although I am not sure if the current generation of fighters can go as high as the Phantom could. The Phantom, if necessary, could do a zoom climb maneuver to well over 100,000 ft, although that was too high for the engines to stay running and at the top it was in a zoom-glide mode, but it could get there and fire missiles from there, albeit with very limited maneuver capability.
Shoot it down. If it was anything non-nefarious, we would have been asked by the ChiComs for permission to cross. Nothing good from this, for sure. Let's have a close look at the pieces.

The Southern border is gone. The Northern border is catching up. Florida has migrants coming in from the Atlantic, now the Chinese are coming in from above. Nothing much left is there? Gotta love those Democrats.

Nobody's doing anything because this is just a variation of the old (but still frequently used) ploy of "overflying" air space. The whole purpose of the rogue balloon is likely NOT to "spy" on us per se. They are tryin to see where, how, and when our RADAR operates when an unexpected event like this occurs or what other DEFENSES we mobilize. By NOT engaging with this balloon, our message to the Chinese is loud and clear: we will not play their game. They are not getting what they want. Period.

IT IS NOT A CHINESE BALLOON.
It is a Google “Project Loon” Balloon (program was cancelled two years ago... The balloons are now operating for the US Department of Defense under some secret contract.)
All this “Chinese” crap is all psyops against a gullible American people.. Probably part of the “False Flag” operation from the 0’Biden administration we have been expecting.
Do a search for HBAL617 (that is its transponder Identification) if you want to understand what's going on. It's 'brother' HBAL 616 was also up a few days ago, but appears to have landed near Santa Rosa, NM (east of Albuquerque).

One potential problem with shooting down the balloon is there could be all kinds of contaminants I guess I should say, there are most probably contaminants and poisons, radioactive materials within and part of the balloon itself which could then rain all over wherever it's exploded.

Re #26, you are saying that the balloon has an operating radar transponder and is sending out a standard tracking code? That would require a flight plan, and an assigned transponder code.
The code you quote was used by an airlner.
I'm thinking that this is pretty unlikely to have a transponder on it.
I worry that it has a low yield nuke for an EMP attack. That is about the IDEAL location and altitude to EMP a huge chunk of the midwest. As it drifts eastward, it could be in a position to EMP all the NE and shut down everything from at least DC to Maine, probably out to Detroit.
BUT.....I doubt that the ChiComs are this stupid, but underestimating your enemy is what Stalin did in trusting Hitler.

Unless our Washington Clown Show can list in detail every piece of equipment, every germ, every virus on that balloon there is no good excuse for NOT shooting it down.

Yes. it has a transponder.
You are wrong, it is a Helium Balloon,
https://flightaware.com/live/flight/HBAL617
and I picked it up (and Its 'brother' (HBAL616) ) on my own ads-B flight tracking system when it was over NM a couple days ago, and have been following it ever since.

Check out Reuters. 4 hours ago this is their report: "A balloon shown flying over Memphis on flight tracking site Flightradar24 was not the Chinese “airship” suspected by U.S. officials of being a spy balloon that flew over northwestern U.S. and Montana in recent days. Despite claims on social media, the balloon that flew over Memphis in fact belongs to U.S. company Aerostar."

Yes, the pentagon committed treason for not following the President's order to shoot it down. Trump would have them report to the white house to sign their resignations. And Court martialed for insubordination.
