The shades of the Duke and duchess of Windsor must be breathing a sigh of relief in much the same way that Jimmy Carter breathes a great sigh of relief over Joe Biden'spresidency.

Harry's book should be 'Life as a Perpetual Child.' We don't hear Princess Anne complaining that each time one of her brothers was born that she got bumped farther and farther from the top crown.

Prince William would never respond in kind to “Spare,” but if he did, he could call it, “Spare Me.”

This is a great article, and about so much more than Harry and Meghan. They are just the celebrity examples. I have a victimist nephew and step-son. My nephew is a typical "failure to launch". To get him out of the house, my sister pays his rent and a monthly credit card for his expenses. My step-son has banned us for being unvaxxed. Coping with family members who play the eternal victim can be exhausting when you're the scapegoat. From the article: "Finding freedom is not an airplane thing; it's a God thing — a chapter in the life span process of God-surrendered acceptance and gratitude for the totality of life, including pests and relatives.  Then compassionate detachment.  Detachment is the action word.  The scapegoat detaches, restricts access, discontinues paying attention to the victimist.  Withdrawing attention is different from ignoring.  Detachment is a serene mind that permits businesslike communication without emotionality." Great advice in a number of human endeavors.

Brava, #6. There is so much in this article that is missed by those who don’r bother to read it. Almost everyone knows one of these victimists or has one or ? in their family. Civil detachment is indeed the way to deal with them. Highly recommend this excellent read. Yesterday its humor was noted and one poster called it “a home run”...

Harry burnt his bridges with his family and he and his bride are quickly reaching irrelevancy in the US. Most Americans don’t care about royalty and these two are no shining examples of it. Harry has no skills other than being a world class whiner and his wife is a talentless social climber.

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley told FOX News on Monday evening that it is a "menacing thing" for the FBI to declare that "combatting disinformation" is one of its top priorities, and explained how Elon Musk revealed potential first amendment violations in the bureau's relationship with social media companies like Twitter. (snip)JONATHAN TURLEY, GWU: What’s interesting is that there is really a loss of space in the last few weeks for many of the censorship apologists that are in Congress and the media. For years, they denied there was any censorship, that there was any shadowbanning, there was any blacklist. All of that was just formally denied. Because of Musk, we now know that all of that were lies. That, in fact, there was an extensive censorship system that was being directed in part by the FBI.

This was a hard year for conservatives. In 2022, we mourned the loss of a host of influential and important thinkers on the Right. The intellectual wing of the conservative movement has always been a vital force for inspiring, presenting, and driving home conservative ideas. The conservatives we lost in this past year all played a part in this dynamic exchange, in newspapers, at think tanks, in academia, on the judiciary, and in entertainment. The voices they provided helped conservative ideas get heard — and for that we can be grateful.

The Biden administration has quietly finalized a rule allowing employers to funnel workers’ 401(k) funds into investments that support woke causes that address issues such as climate change and diversity. The Labor Department approved the rule last week, just two days before the Thanksgiving break. It will affect roughly 150 million workers and $10 trillion in assets covered under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974. The rule says asset managers and retirement plan administrators should consider environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors when selecting investments.

San Francisco’s reparations committee has proposed paying each Black longtime resident $5 million and granting total debt forgiveness due to the decades of "systematic repression" faced by the local Black community. The San Francisco African American Reparations Advisory Committee, which advises the city on developing a plan for reparations for Black residents, released its draft report last month to address reparations – not for slavery, since California was not technically a slave state, but "to address the public policies explicitly created to subjugate Black people in San Francisco by upholding and expanding the intent and legacy of chattel slavery."

With each gallon of gas pumped in the United States since 1932, drivers have been paying taxes. The revenue is used for road repairs and public transportation such as train and bus systems. Currently, the Fed takes 18.4 cents per gallon for gas or 24.4 cents per gallon for diesel. State gas taxes range from a national high of 61 cents for gas in Pennsylvania, to a low of 8.95 cents in Alaska. But environmentally motivated improvements in fuel efficiency and the move to electric vehicles (EVs) translate to less gas sold, resulting less tax revenue collected. State and federal governments are looking for a new way to fund transportation.

One of the major wins of the McCarthy drama that gripped Congress last week was a pledge from the new Speaker to release all of the January 6 riot footage. Via Newsweek: "Speaking to reporters on Thursday, McCarthy said he intends to make public the thousands of hours of footage from the insurrection—something Republicans have long called for, as part of attempts to exonerate both lawmakers and civilians accused of wrongdoing in connection to the riots. McCarthy said that he would consider releasing all the footage as the 'public should see what happened' that day, rather than rely on the report from the House Select Committee which investigated the attack."

Much of the commentary concerning the presence of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center office and the President’s Delaware home has focused on the delay between the discovery and the public revelation of that discovery.
