And over Thanksgiving weekend residents around the park found the statue covered in splashes of red paint along with the words "COLONIZER" and "LAND BACK." The vandals also may have written "Dakota 38" in possible reference to 38 Dakota Sioux members executed on Lincoln’s order following the U.S.-Dakota war in 1862, the Chicago Tribune reported. The statue was one of many in the city examined as part of a commission set up after protests in 2020 that targeted statues of figures with controversial histories. Debate over former American presidents has proven especially contentious.

“four young Dakota men attacked and killed five settlers”....... I think we used to call that a small War Party. The Sioux were among the fiercest warriors on the plains until we over ran and replaced them.....just like we are currently being over run and replaced. It’s the way of things.

I am no fan of Mr Lincoln, but even less a fan of activist thugs. I'm sure they have no idea what they are protesting; they just want to destroy things.

As usual, you don't get the full story from these history deniers. Though full immigration was not totally fair to the Indians, there were efforts to integrate peacefully. Several treaties were signed. Neither side lived up to the terms of the treaties, it seems politicians promising more than they can deliver is a multi-cultural phenonium, and this set the stage for conflict. Hostilities were initiated by a small group of Sioux, and after the first engagements, they asked Chief Little Crow to lead them in battle. Little Crow, at first, told them that they would not be successful and he declined, but when they were adamant about engaging war, he agreed to lead them. Another group of Sioux, called Northern Sioux, saw that it as all ill advised and declined to join them. The fighting Sioux emphasized the killing of children in raids, and they did kill children, over 700. This war, started on a dare by some stupid Indian youths, and I believe it ignited the excessive but sometimes defensive Indian wars in the west. There were other tribes in Minnesota. I remember, as children, my sister and I observing a peaceful Indian powwow after a day of fishing at a northern Minnesota lake. We loved watching their dances, religious in nature, and completely safe and amiable. They were Chippewa maybe.

Love how one injustice out ways another. A nearly 160 year old event brings outrage, but those protesters have no problem using their I phones and electric cars that are supplied parts from slave and child labor in China and Africa. oh well..

A new law being seriously considered by lawmakers in New York City could strip landlords of the ability to perform criminal background checks on prospective tenants. The legislation, known as the "Fair Chance for Housing Act", is set to go before the New York City Council’s Committee on Civil Rights on December 8th and is being backed by at least 30 of the council’s 51 members, New York Post reported. In addition to being supported by a significant number of lawmakers, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has suggested he is open to working with lawmakers on the proposal.

Chinese police have clashed with thousands protesting the country's draconian COVID lockdowns - as unprecedented civil unrest gripped the nation. Demonstrations erupted in at least seven cities - including Shanghai, Nanjing and Guangzhou - with violence breaking out between local cops and furious protesters. The largest demonstration appeared in Shanghai - home to 26million residents - with many boldly demanding President Xi Jinping resign. Officers used pepper spray against about 300 protesters, according to a witness, but western journalists reported the numbers to be in the thousands.

The EU has accused the US of profiteering from the Ukraine war by selling guns and gas at ramped up prices. Several high-ranking officials within the Bloc accused Joe Biden of capitalizing on the brutal Russian invasion by marking up the cost to import the vital products. One senior official told Politico they believe America was standing to gain the most from the continuation of the fighting, nine months after soldiers first invaded. 'The fact is, if you look at it soberly, the country that is most profiting from this war is the U.S. because they are selling more gas and at higher prices, and because they are selling more weapons,

Arizona Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Wright — with the Elections Integrity Unit — wrote a letter to the Maricopa County officials Saturday demanding an accounting for the widespread ballot tabulation and ballot printer problems seen during the general election on Nov. 8. Among the most troubling issues raised in the letter directed to Thomas Liddy with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office was the apparent co-mingling of ballots in black duffle bags in at least one polling location, which were successfully run through the on-site tabulators with those put in “Door 3” to be sent to the Election Department’s downtown Phoenix tabulation center because they could not be read.

"This gal calls me, says she wants to do a book about all these Republican Congressmen she's--well--she's known." The way she says it, the word drips with such lubricity that you can't help knowing what known means. "One chapter on each Republican," she continues. My husband, who was a Marine during the Vietnam War, was always talking about the IQ levels of fellow soldiers, and he would express surprise at the low level of intelligence of some draftees. We would then get into arguments on the validity of IQ testing, which I questioned did not take into consideration an individual’s environment. But considering the past decade as the utter complete dumbing down of our populace, maybe I should reconsider my dismissal of testing. What exactly does a person’s IQ mean?

LONDON -- The World Health Organization has renamed monkeypox as mpox, citing concerns the original name of the decades-old animal disease could be construed as discriminatory and racist. President Biden urged Congress Monday to intervene to avert a "potentially crippling national rail shutdown," after multiple rail labor unions shot down an agreement brokered by the White House in September. American consumers and virtually all industries could take a hit at the beginning of the holiday season if workers do strike as soon as Dec. 5. Congress could intervene and impose contract terms on railroad workers, which is what Mr. Biden is urging them to do. Thanks to the Railway Labor Act, passed in 1926, Congress can force workers back to their stations with a congressional resolution.
