The Indianapolis Colts made a somewhat surprising move on Monday when they fired their head coach, Frank Reich. The Colts, fresh off an anemic 26-3 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, made the decision shortly thereafter and announced it Monday morning: (snip) Given that, it was little surprise that the Colts moved swiftly to replace Reich, and they chose a familiar fan favorite: Jeff Saturday.

If they picked Jeff Saturday why did they let Frank coach the team Sunday and not tell him till Monday? Now if I could just find out what's the name of the guy on first.

I'm from Indy and most of us here wonder why this didn't happen a year ago. When we think of the Colts we think of the Peyton Manning era. Regardless, Jeff Saturday is fine (he does have beautiful eyes, LOL). It is interim. For once maybe those in charge are actually looking over candidates' qualifications and not progressive check boxes. Leave them alone. The season is shot to hell so no one really cares. If he does great good for us. If he sucks then I assume they will double check the applications, let the season run out and get on with interviews. Everything is not a big deal. Life is to short to make everything an unnecessary battle. Get a life. Good luck Jeff. You can't do worse. Remember the word interim does not mean permanent head coach. And who says he even wants it? Maybe he is just helping out his old team. Here's hoping Peyton shows up for a few of the remaining games. Just leave it all alone.

When one analyzes IQ results on various football positions, interior linemen tend to have the highest IQs. (I will admit a personal bias, having played Offensive and Defensive guard, even played Center one season, so long ago that face masks were optional, and there was limited substitution, which meant you played both offense and defense. And at center, in those days, defensive head slaps were legal, so that on every snap, a defensive lineman rang your bell.) But I digress. If this interim coach was an all pro center, he knows the game, and with good assistant coaches, he will be ok. (Many head coaches in the NFL played the game, but were not stars. And one never played football ever - Al Davis - in spite of the myth he created about playing for Syracuse University.)

Jussie Smollett is available. He's not qualified but he checks at least two of the approved and protected species boxes. And isn't that all that really matters these days? Also, I hear he's a big fan of their tight ends. ;-)

The NFL is a Black sport with white spectators. Television commercials are filled with Black performers, whites and asians the exception, so...all head coaches should be Black. That goes for the NBA as well. I'll stick to watching golf, thank you.

I should have been more specific. Why are the criticisms by race baiters so important? The team manaagement should run the team and the carpers ignored.

If scientists can study the effects of cow farts on the climate, why not spend a few dollars to find out how menopause effects trans-women?

Pennsylvania Democratic Lt. Gov. John Fetterman was winning the outstanding in-person and absentee votes in Philadelphia and in a suburban county. That meant essentially that most of Dr. Mehmet Oz’s votes had been counted and allowed the Associated Press to call the race early Wednesday for Fetterman. At times early in the cycle, it seemed Fetterman would run away with the election after handily defeating his primary opponents, but Oz tightened the race, attacking Fetterman as soft on crime and relentlessly questioning whether his Democratic counterpart was fit to serve after he suffered a stroke in May.

I have been pretty clear about my take on election fraud: it happens. How could it not? There is fraud in every aspect of human life, and we generally take precautions to minimize it. In elections? Not so much. It also rarely makes much of a difference, because committing massive fraud is difficult, requires the cooperation of significant numbers of people to pull off, and when it matters a lot the lawyers get involved. I think it happens a lot more than Democrats are willing to admit, but I also think it affects the outcomes of elections a lot fewer times than many Republicans suppose. It is a marginal
