Citing Friday’s Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. A former cargo handling company employee at Los Angeles International Airport was sentenced Monday to 12 months in federal prison for stealing four gold bars that were part of a larger shipment headed from Australia to New York.
Marlon Moody, 39, of South Los Angeles, was sentenced by United States District Judge Dale S. Fischer, who also ordered him to pay a fine of $7,500.
Moody pleaded guilty in July 2021 to one count of conspiracy to commit theft of an interstate or foreign shipment.

Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan warned parts of the East Coast could be "swallowed by the ocean" in a dissenting Supreme Court opinion in an environmental regulation case Thursday.
"If the current rate of emissions continues, children born this year could live to see parts of the Eastern seaboard swallowed by the ocean," Kagan wrote in her dissent.
Justices Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor joined Kagan's dissent in the 6-3 case.
