Can we finally stop listening to election pollsters?

Original Article

A New York Times poll revealed that the Democratic candidate was leading the Republican candidate, 44 to 38. Another New York Times poll, taken days before the election, showed the candidates were running about even nationally. The results were horribly wrong. For New York voters, the Republican candidate won 47 to 44. Nationally, the candidates were far from even. The Republican defeated the Democrat 51 to 41. This wrong prediction was from 1980 and the presidential election between President Jimmy Carter and then-Republican nominee Ronald Reagan, and it's indicative of the unreliability of polling.

Comments:

It's pretty bad when weather forecasters are more accurate than pollsters.

Seems like throwing darts at a board is about as accurate. In some states like Georgia they were close - Kemp won by 8 and Herschel/Warlock are basically tied. But Arizona was way off. States that turn a blind eye to ballot harvesting seem to be the biggest ''surprise'' in favor of Dimmiecrats.

It is hard to predict elections. First you have to predict how many voters will vote for each candidate. Then you have to figure out how many votes the Democrats will manufacture to make sure their candidate will win. Further complicating that is figuring out which races the Democrats will decide that they can leave to the actual votes in order to make it appear that elections are actually on the up and up.

The polls weren’t necessarily inaccurate. The vote counts were.

I think the Pollsters were RIGHT! It's the corruption in counting the Ballots that throws off what SHOULD have been a fair Election. The Pollsters were probably right on Target for a Red Wave! Unfortunately, in the Democrat States only Democrats are allowed to win!

In the spectrum of disinformation, you've got lies, damned lies, statistics, and poll reports. There is an art to getting others to think you are collecting their viewpoint, when you are actually trying to manipulate their viewpoint. Yet another way that our news media push a narrative more than report the news.

I think it's worse than inaccuracy. I suspect many pollsters (possibly a majority) of vote suppression favoring Democratic candidates, by varying their samples from the actual makeup of the eventual voting population. Rush used to say that polling firms, as the election approached, shifted to a more accurate forecast, in order to claim that they'd gotten it right. This year the final forecasts showed an unusual number of near-dead-heats. Forgive me for being suspicious, but that could (a) cover for a fudged outcome, and (b) still allow the pollsters to claim they were as accurate as possible.

Construction workers who toiled on one of Tesla’s sprawling so-called gigafactories will file a complaint and a case referral with the federal Department of Labor on Tuesday detailing exploitative work conditions they say they experienced while building the plant. Whistleblowers came forward to allege serious labor and employment violations during construction of the electric car manufacturer’s massive new facility in Austin, Texas, that left them vulnerable to injuries and wage theft.

Twitter has certainly been an interesting place since Elon Musk’s acquisition of the company. Verification has become a paid service, causing widespread panic among the privileged who want to keep their status symbol exclusive. Then there’s been the fact that the social media site now allows a wide range of opinions that were formerly disallowed, which has the left, in general, losing its mind. But the most entertaining aspect of Twitter hasn’t been happening on the platform itself. Instead, it’s been happening among the company’s employee base.

On Tuesday, Texas governor Greg Abbott announced that he had invoked the Invasion Clauses of both the state and federal Constitutions in an attempt to put an end to Biden's border crisis. "I invoked the Invasion Clauses of the US & Texas Constitutions to fully authorize Texas to take unprecedented measures to defend our state against an invasion," Abbott stated, adding that he's "using that constitutional authority, & other authorization & Executive Orders to keep our state & country safe."

The Department of Energy’s Inspector General is reviewing why the Joe Biden administration gave promising battery technology, developed by taxpayer dollars, to a Chinese company instead of making the batteries in the U.S. China is now reportedly building one of the largest battery grids in the world using the technology, which could store huge amounts of solar energy without degrading over time or requiring lithium, mitigating a major environmental impact of current green technology that ends up in landfills.

It’s no secret that government agencies give the Left more of a leash than the Right. Headline-grabbing stories over the past few years have exposed the overt political biases of agencies such as the FBI and the Justice Department. But underreported is a much larger story of the same ideological malfeasance in the nonprofit sector, a topic less sexy than corruption in the intelligence agencies, but arguably more important due to the growth of political activism via charities. In fact, what the IRS isn’t doing in the nonprofit (or “public charity”) sector will affect the midterm elections far more than any FBI raid ever could.

Faced with questions about his ability to lead after the midterm election debacle, a defiant Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell deflected blame from his own culpability in the Democrats retaining control of the upper chamber and instead blamed it on public dissatisfaction with MAGA candidates. The embattled McConnell spoke to reporters on Tuesday, defending his dismal performance and the refusal to adequately fund candidates who were endorsed by former and perhaps future President Donald J. There have been many postmortems written about the outcome of the 2022 mid-term elections. Nearly all focus on political or structural issues. Did the Republican primary voters pick terrible candidates? Why didn’t the Republican hierarchy spend more money on candidates x, y, or z? Is Trump’s endorsement the kiss of death in a general election? Why didn’t the Republicans better prepare for voting fraud and manipulation? But what nearly everyone fails to understand is that this election further amplified that this nation has effectively and permanently split into two countries tenuously living side-by-side,
