Thanks, Biden!: Ford Increases Price for
Electric Mustang Mach-E by as Much as $8,000

Original Article

Ford is reportedly raising the price of the 2023 Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle by as much as $8,000 just a few weeks after increasing the price of its planned electric pickup truck the F-150 Lightning. Although the company blames inflation, supply chain problems, and “rapidly evolving market conditions,” the price hikes come just after Joe Biden’s climate and spending bill passed including electric vehicle rebates eerily similar to Ford’s price increases. The Verge reports that Ford is raising the price of the 2023 Mustang Mach-E just a few weeks after increasing the price of its electric pickup truck, the F-150 Lightning.

Comments:

The price increase just happens to match the new $7,500 consumer tax credit on electric cars, the net effect being that Ford pockets the welfare payment and not the consumer. How American is that?

Doesn't matter to me what Ford makes the price. Ain't buying one. Have owned 2 Fords (Fix or Repair Daily). They were both junk. But, at least didn't have to worry about my garage burning down.

Poor people will not be able to afford an EV. What happens when states banning gas powered vehicles refuse to register them as well? This is a disaster in the making.

GM raised the price of their Hummer EV as well. The other makes will do the same. This is similar to college tuition. The government needs to stop subsidizing for political gain. Reagan on the government and the economy "Government doesn't solve problems, it subsidizes them" "...if it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.If it stops moving, subsidize it." my own observation has been if a government program is failing it is because not enough taxpayer money has been spent.

I've owned two Fords over the years and have been generally happy with both, but neither was the newest thing and certainly not unproven technology. Neither did I buy a betamax, a GyroJet pistol, a Yugo or a car with a Wankel rotary engine. I'll let the chips fall and see what remains. Stylish people can take the chances.

I never had a Ford, my dad sold General Motors, but in 2003, I bought Ford Lightning, a real one. It might be the best vehicle I've ever owned. Will not buy an EV, especially an electric P/U that can't tow a trailer 100 mi before needing a charge, costs 3 times as much and will burn your house down while you're sleeping.

When Ford came out with the electric Mustang, I expected it to look like a Mustang. Instead, what Ford came out with, was a compact SUV looking vehicle that has no resemblance to an actual Mustang. Why would anyone buy this thing? Mustangs are supposed to be sporty looking with the exhaust growl Mustang enthusiasts have always loved. Not some SUV/minivan looking thing with a flat front end.

As the son of an electrical contractor. I offer this bit of info...there will be a black market of guys who will tap into the line side of your meter (service entrance section) and bypass the pesky load being metered for billing. They will run the wire to a fused disconnect in the garage and then to a 220v extension plug-in for your EV. Cost? Maybe 1k. Savings? You might never get caught. And I've seen meter tags that look like they've never been tampered with.

It is worth noting that the battery pack for the Ford Mustang costs Ford more to make than the MSRP of the cheapest ICE cars available. No one has any intention of providing electric vehicles to everybody.

Well, that just negated Biden's tax credit. The other manufacturers will do the same. I don't want an EV anyway and will not buy one. They may become practical at some point, but that will be 20 or 30 years in the future, and I am 80 years old. I am also keeping my twenty-year-old Camry. 96,000 miles and runs like a charm. It will certainly outlast me.

It's only a day since we reported on California’s intention to outlaw sales of new combustion-engined vehicles from 2035, and already the ripples are being felt across the nation. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) that governs motor vehicle emissions for the state adopted new rules that will require 35% of the new cars sold in the state are electric or plug-in hybrids by 2026, with that percentage rising to 68% by 2030 and 100% by 2035. California has a waiver from the federal government to set its own air quality rules, and other states are allowed to opt into its regulations, which are typically more stringent than the national standards.
