Study: Pfizer COVID pill showed no benefit

Washington—Pfizer’s COVID-19 pill appears to provide little or no benefit for younger adults, while still reducing the risk of hospitalization and death for high-risk seniors, according to a large study published Wednesday. The results from a 109,000-patient Israeli study are likely to renew questions about the U.S. government’s use of Paxlovid, which has become the go-to treatment for COVID-19 due to its at-home convenience. The Biden administration has spent more than $10 billion purchasing the drug and making it available at thousands of pharmacies through its test-and-treat initiative.(Snip)But people between the ages of 40 and 65 saw no measurable benefit,

Comments:

No benefit? The federal government funneled more than $10 billion of taxpayer money to Pfizer in exchange for garbage; I'd say that's fantastic by modern American lights. The pill works no better than the vaccine, and we're in a pandemic of the unvaccinated; chalk up another win for the propaganda wizards.

The ever corrupt “Brandon” administration gave Pfizer $7 billion for this garbage drug, terrorizing and ruining people who used hydroxycholoquqine or ivermectin (which did work). I worked my whole career in pharma sales and marketing. You have no idea of few drugs ever did $7 billion the first year - NONE! There were few $1 billion drugs before Obamacare caused all healthcare costs to spiral out of control. Almost criminal behavior by Pfizer.

Decided against the shots, and we have an alternative protealysis inhibitor in stock. No need for the Pfizer poisons.

The Biden administration said Friday it is investing more money than ever—$100 million—in “navigators” who will raise awareness about Obamacare and link persons with coverage on the portals during the 2023 open enrollment period from Nov. 1 to Jan. 15. The money exceeds the $80 million spent on in-person assisters during the last enrollment season and will help the program retain its 1,500 navigators and add more, according to the Department of Health and Human Services. “This is a historic investment to connect people to high-quality, affordable health care,” HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said. “Last year, our investments helped result in the lowest uninsured rate

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said on Friday that American households and businesses can expect to experience “pain” as the central bank aims to bring down soaring rates of inflation. “Restoring price stability will take some time and requires using our tools forcefully to bring demand and supply into better balance,” Powell told policymakers on Friday. “While higher interest rates, slower growth and softer labor market conditions will bring down inflation, they will also bring some pain to households and businesses.” Powell added: “These are the unfortunate costs of reducing inflation.” Powell told central bankers that the Fed will likely impose more interest rate hikes in the months ahead

Security guards at several high-end stores in the West Village and Soho say they feel like sitting ducks as thieves loot their stores in broad daylight with no consequences. The two NYC nabes—and their high-end shops—have become a target for enterprising robbers, like the group of seven men and women who sauntered into the Lululemon store on 14th Street and 9th Avenue around noon on Aug. 16 and made off with close to $30,000 in stolen goods. The gang grabbed clothing and other gear and stuffed them into large sacks and a shopping cart, walking nonchalantly by a security guard who appeared on video to do nothing

The United States is facing a looming crisis of utility shutoffs, with a record number of households falling behind on their power bills, industry observers and experts say. About 20 million US households, or one out of six homes, are behind on their utility bills, the most on record, according to the National Energy Assistance Directors Association (Neada). 'I expect a tsunami of shutoffs,' Jean Su, a senior attorney at the non-profit Center for Biological Diversity, which tracks the power industry, told Bloomberg this week. Electricity prices have soared due to rising costs for natural gas, which has skyrocketed following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in late February.

Kathy Hochul, who hasn’t proven shy about issuing orders, had one for the state’s Republicans this week — all 5.4 million of them: “Just jump on a bus and head down to Florida where you belong, OK?” she said. “You are not New Yorkers.” If you can move beyond the frankly disgusting political partisanship and intolerance, her message is fiscally irresponsible, even dangerous. The governor probably already knows this, but the state’s extensive public sector is heavily reliant on personal income taxes paid by residents, and with nearly $14 billion in projected budget gaps over the next five years, it can’t afford to lose any taxpayers,

An op-ed in the Washington Post has argued that men in women’s sports could actually be a good thing for young girls by teaching them the art of losing gracefully. According to Alyssa Rosenberg, the aim of school athletics is not to teach children the art of achieving excellence but rather to build character, and what better way to build character in a teenage girl than having her experience the frustration of losing that championship title to a biological male? Her argument largely hinges on the unicorn of “sports-crazed parents” who will theoretically use transgender athletes in women’s sports as an excuse in the event their daughter loses.
