Liz Cheney’s neoconservatism is dead

Original Article

Liz Cheney’s thumping defeat in her bid for renomination for Wyoming’s sole seat in the House of Representatives signals again the utter and total defeat of the Bush-Cheney-Romney era of the Republican Party. The neoconservative period of GOP dominance ended when Donald Trump trounced the field during the 2016 primary season. But the avatars of that political tendency — in favour of military adventurism and “free markets” — keep appearing like ghosts at the feast to rattle their chains and insist on being seated above the salt.

Hopefully this will give her plenty of time to go bird hunting with her father. Since she likens herself to Abe Lincoln, maybe she can also find time to attend the theatre.

I don’t think her defeat had anything to do with neoconservatism and everything to do with her betrayal of the President and his party.

Neoconservatism has come to equate to involving the USA in foreign wars that have little or nothing to do with the legitimate defense of the USA. Now the neoconservatives are trying to ramp up a war with both China and Russia that are both nuclear powers. Those past foreign wars amounted to a lot of American military members being killed and wounded, and that in the end resulted in a political big bug out as evidenced first by the bug out from Vietnam, and recently by the latest bug out orchestrated by Biden involving his surrender to the Taliban of Afghanistan last year.

FTA: "(The Republican party) more closely resembles an ice floe upon which the decrepit and useless remnant of the party has been set adrift." Remember that sentiment when close races are lost by slim margins, and Congressional majorities are built on similar margins. Nothing makes for being set adrift more than losing elections and power. Of course, in modern times the GOPe is well experienced in being out. Partisans need to look back at the mid-50s to the 90s for a refresher. How's that 50-50 Senate working for you?

Always remember that a dead rattlesnake can still administer a deadly bite. The neocons always were snakes, and now that they have been dispatched by Trump, they will do everything they can to strike at their dispatcher and his supporters.

Not wanting to put too much credibility behind any Newsweek report; however, the claims within the article mirror what we have suspected all along. [Article Here] Essentially, the nub of the article states the DOJ claim to “retrieve federal documents” was a cover story so the FBI could retrieve evidence Trump took from DC showing his Russiagate targeting. This is called “throwing a bag over it.”

Finally, it’s party time at the White House! Biden’s spin doctors are getting all his favorite publications in a lather about a “Victory Tour” to celebrate his “historic” achievements and raise his historically low approval ratings in the run up to the midterms. There’s passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, which doesn’t reduce inflation. Gas prices are down to very expensive from ludicrously expensive. And Biden is COVID free … maybe. As this shindig sets off, we have some suggestions for Biden’s victory lap: (snip) If all else fails, we hear there are plenty of fun party options outlined on Hunter’s laptop.

A Florida judge ruled that a 16-year-old pregnant girl could not receive an abortion because she was not "sufficiently mature" enough to terminate her pregnancy. An appellate court on Monday upheld a lower court ruling prohibiting the girl, referred to as Jane Doe 22-B in court papers, from receiving the procedure, according to a court ruling from Judge Jennifer J. Frydrychowicz. The parentless teenager was seeking a waiver from a state law requiring minors to get parental consent for an abortion. She had told the lower court she was not ready for a baby, did not have a job and the baby's father was unable to help her.

The county reported that it rejected 195,783 of the 715,833 signatures submitted, roughly 27.3%. The reasons given included that some voters were found to be unregistered; incorrect addresses were given; or signatures did not match those on file. It’s abundantly clear that former Vice President Mike Pence is going to run for president in 2024. He’s been putting in the leg work lately, with a scheduled trip to New Hampshire coming up. He’s also positioned himself as a Trump foil in the mid-term GOP primaries, taking a contrary position to the former president in several states, most recently in Arizona. For my part, I think Pence’s pursuit is delusional. There is exactly one person in the GOP who would be palatable to Trump voters if Trump himself weren’t the nominee, and his name is Ron DeSantis.

Since the outset of the global monkeypox outbreak in May, public health and infectious disease experts have told the public that the virus is largely transmitting through skin-to-skin contact, in particular during sex between men. Now, however, an expanding cadre of experts has come to believe that sex between men itself — both anal as well as oral intercourse — is likely the main driver of global monkeypox transmission. The skin contact that comes with sex, these experts say, is probably much less of a risk factor.
