As America-Hating Brittney Griner Heads

The irony has been remarkable from the moment the Brittney Griner Saga began in February. Griner, the multimillionaire professional women’s basketball player who became phenomenally wealthy in America, showed complete disdain for her homeland when she was living here. She refused to even enter sporting arenas until after our National Anthem was played. Griner, who is both black and lesbian, objected to the imaginary systemic racism that Democrats and their media fed her. She was vocal in her defiance and suggested that we shouldn’t even be playing the National Anthem before sporting events.

Comments:

Hope she brought a jacket.

I'm betting that the US will eventually "give away the store" in an exchange for Brittney. Then when she gets back she'll complain about how long it took the US to make the trade.

I know she has not shown love for her country but perhaps she has learned a valuable lesson. Remember the condition of Otto Warmbier when he was released -- heart breaking. I hope she is released. Also Paul Wehlan is still in a Russian prison. How many years now? I feel for him and his family and hope for his released.

If Griner serves the full nine year sentence she will come back to an America that will have completely forgotten her. Her wife will have divorced her in absentia and will have squandered their assets. Some family members and friends may be gone. If our present dysfunctional government persists she will find America quite like Russia. Conversely, she might also find an America that is overwhelmingly conservative and people will laugh at her 2022 political views. How ever things work out, Griner's life has inalterably turned into a Twilight Zone episode. She left America with a distorted worldview that seems to appeal to the sudden celebrity and an equally distorted view of self. All of those things disintegrated with the fall of a Russian gavel. It must have been quite like an Oz moment in reverse, her bright, shiny, colorful world suddenly turned black and white and cold shades of grey.

Ask yourself a simple question. We all know who Rosie O’Donnell is, considering she’s been a fairly prominent celebrity for almost four decades. But examine the logic behind her celebrity status and ask yourself: Why? Why is Ms. O’Donnell famous at all? At one point in the 1980s, O’Donnell had a modest career as a comedian, but we dare you to come up with one memorable, laughable joke or bit that she performed. She had her own talk show for a few years, and then famously played the role of the most-left host of the insufferable program known as The View, but again, aside from perhaps a few antagonistic

Maybe CNN actually is making its way back to authentic journalism after all. In a recent report, the news outlet debunked a lie coming from Democrats regarding Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to transport illegal immigrants to New York City and Washington, D.C. Previously, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and New York City Mayor Eric Adams claimed that Abbott was bussing illegals to these cities against their will. She said many of these individuals had no idea where they were headed. Abbott’s office denied the allegations, noting that they obtain the written consent of those being transported out of the state.

When attempting to rank or evaluate something or someone, context is everything. For instance, if we want to proclaim that a professional baseball player is an exceptional first baseman, we must first establish context. Are we comparing that player only to other first baseman playing today, in which case the bar is lower than it might otherwise be? Or are we comparing to him every first baseman who has ever played the game, in which case the great Lou Gehrig is indisputably the gold standard? Context is critical. So too does context affect one’s effort in trying to establish the qualifications of a country.

Adams succeeded the far-left groundhog murderer Bill DeBlasio who, for reasons that are still unclear, decided to run for president and couldn’t get his polling numbers out of the single digits in his own city. Along with Governor Andrew Cuomo, DeBlasio oversaw the single worst response to the COVID pandemic by both allowing the highest number of per capita virus-related deaths and obliterating his city’s economy.

Governors in states along our southern border have been vocal in their concerns regarding illegal immigration for years. Their school and health care systems can’t handle the additional workload, they explained. The financial burden placed on their taxpayers was excessive and unfair, they shouted. And the fact that such migrants were entering their states unvetted posed a serious threat to the health and security of their communities, they complained. But government officials elsewhere in the country, particularly in our federal government and in blue cities such as New York and Washington D.C., dismissed the pleas from governors such as Greg Abbott in Texas and Doug Ducey in Arizona.

The expected embrace of the policy by the state’s Air Resources Board during a meeting scheduled for Thursday comes after Gov. The proposed regulation would set strict deadlines for meeting that goal, forcing automakers to step up production of cleaner vehicles considerably, starting in 2026. First, for those of you who haven’t read all of the previous columns in this space, a definition. What is Weaponized Governmental Failure? Simply put, it’s the process by which urban socialist Democrats intentionally muck up the basic tasks of municipal governance and create such soul-crushing environments that middle-class taxpayers and voters decamp for the suburbs, thus leaving an electorate incapable of throwing off the political machine. My theory is that Weaponized Governmental Failure, or WGF for short, was arrived upon serendipitously. At some point in the 1990s, Democrats noticed that some of their worst mayors — like Washington, D.C.’s Marion Barry — were simply unbeatable despite dismal performances.
