Justice Department officials assume they can't rely on what former President Donald Trump's lawyers say given Trump's volatility as a client. That's according to The New York Times, which reported that department officials had been in communication with Trump's representatives for months while trying to recover hundreds of pages of government records that were improperly moved from the White House to Mar-a-Lago after Trump left office. The report cited Justice Department officials as saying they worked under the assumption that Trump's lawyers couldn't "speak with authority" for him because he could change his mind at the drop of a hat

I'm tired of this game. No official information. Just leaks to the NYTimes about things that may or may not be real. (Likely not given events over the last seven years.) Then the Times spins with it and the Democrat media just laps it up. Lets see how the lawyers for the Dems and the DOJ fair when the malicious prosecution case proceeds.

So defense attorneys are obsolete? Their clients can’t be trusted, so everyone goes to jail? What country is this? Oh yeah, the one where yellow criminals invading the country get free travel, four star hotels and a free phone. The USA exists in name only. The Constitution is now toilet paper. If American women keep voting Democrat, they’ll be added to the list of free gifts to the Central American men invading the southern border. What immigrant wouldn’t want an American woman to do his cooking and cleaning while bearing his children? This is PRECISELY why women should lose the right to vote.

Who had to deal with innumerable leaks from “highly placed sources” during his presidency? Who had advisors who deliberately withheld information from him? DeSantis: Biden Student Loan Forgiveness
a Policy and Political 'Disaster'

Thursday, during an appearance on Hugh Hewitt’s nationally syndicated radio show, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) criticized President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness proposal. The Florida governor said not only was it a policy “disaster” in that it threatened to make economic problems worse. He predicted it would be a political “disaster” because of the public’s reaction. “Oh, I thought it was terrible,” he said. “One, it’s unconstitutional, which is obviously something important. I don’t think that that’s something Biden cares about, but he doesn’t have the authority to do this. Two, you’re going to be having farmers, people that have their own small businesses, waitresses, they’re going to be on the hook
Biden's Student Loan Giveaway Is 'Unconstitutional Flimflammery' 5 replies

Ben Domenech calls it “unconstitutional flimflammery.” Sounds about right. The proper authority to forgive student loan debt is the same authority that authorized the program in the first place: the United States Congress. But Biden — like the last four presidents — is ignoring Congress because it’s too damn slow, and besides, they talk too much. This is true, but that doesn’t make it any more constitutional. “The president proposes; Congress disposes” is the old adage from my high school civics class. Biden is doing a lot of disposing of student loan debt with a fig leaf for justification.

In addition to the observations Scott and John have entered below, a few additional thoughts: • Invoking the HEROES Act as the legal justification for student debt forgiveness reminds of Franklin Roosevelt invoking the World War I-era Trading With the Enemy Act as legal ground for his “bank holiday.” At the time everyone was so dumbstruck and panicked that no one thought to raise a legal challenge, but that’s surely not the case today, though I do wonder if legal challenges may founder for lack of standing. As expected, President Joe Biden made a unilateral move Wednesday to implement a student loan forgiveness plan that “will include at least $10,000 in loan forgiveness for borrowers who make less than $125,000 annually, as well as another payment freeze for roughly four months.” While Republican members of Congress are understandably outraged, most of the ones openly speaking out against Biden’s move seem to be studiously avoiding the “i” word (impeachment) even though that is an option that should definitely be on the table considering Biden does not have the authority to carry out this plan, which does an end run around Congress and the required legislative process. Many White House staffers will likely be eligible for President Biden’s newly unveiled student-loan “forgiveness” plan, which will transfer up to $10,000 in student debt from individuals making less than $125,000 to the American public. A White House report that detailed the pay of more than 470 staffers last month showed that roughly half of current White House employees make $90,000 or less per year, with the other half making more than $100,000. More than 300 staffers on the list earn less than the $125,000 threshold. It is not clear how many White House staffers have student-loan balances. One-in-five White House aides

DeSantis endorsed over two dozen candidates who champion his pro-parents, pro-students school agenda — something Crist adamantly stands against.
