In an ugly and remarkably authoritarian speech almost a year ago, Joe Biden declared that his “patience” was “wearing thin” with a “distinct minority” of Americans who refused the COVID vaccine. (snip) the start of a cruel and gratuitous attack on millions of Americans. While Biden has since moved on to other scapegoats, his campaign of hatred against the unvaccinated should not be forgotten.
The “scientific” pretext of Biden’s war on the unvaccinated was like something out of a pre-genocidal radio broadcast. The unvaccinated were likened to filthy plague carriers recklessly and selfishly harming others. Biden and others in his administration declared COVID a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.”
Nice precedent Joe Biden. Way to go Attorney General Merrick Garland. You guys, along with your sychophants, are transforming America from Reagan’s City of Light on a Hill into a Third World autocracy. Murderers, rapists and pedophiles get the kid glove treatment while supporters of Donald Trump, who “trespassed” on to the grounds of the U.S. Capitol (the ironically named People’s house), are denied habeus corpus and left to rot in jail. The Queensland state government will shutter a $223 million (US$154.6 million) COVID-19 quarantine facility in Wellcamp, west of Toowoomba, just six months after it was opened.
In the same announcement, Deputy Premier Steven Miles said another multi-million dollar, federal government-funded quarantine facility in Pinkenba, Brisbane—due to be finalised in a few weeks—would not be opened.

Trust in newspapers was at 16%. Trust in TV news was at 11%. Both mediums lost trust by having too much opinion and not enough facts. People do not trust the facts given by opinionators, especially opinionators with whom they disagree.
That loss of trust leads to drops in circulation and viewership. (snip)As the drill sergeant said in basic training, opinions are like a certain orifice. Everyone has one. Most of them stink.
The quickest way to salvation -- to convincing people that you are a trustworthy source of news -- is to get rid of the opinions.
