After he was seen walking dressed in combat fatigues behind then-President Donald Trump across Lafayette Square after it had been forcibly cleared of Black Lives Matter protesters in June 1, 2020, Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, drafted a resignation letter to inform Trump that he intended to step down. The letter was published by the New Yorker on Monday in an excerpt of an upcoming book by Peter Baker and Susan Glasser,…

He didn’t submit it because he just wrote it yesterday.

Would like to believe him, but I see no corroboration that he wrote it when he said he did and not when he wrote his book. Maybe he can also get some corroboration that President Trump asked about "shooting 'protesters' in the leg or something" (although people trying to burn down a church and throwing rocks/bottles, etc. at police really shouldn't be labelled "protesters".

I thought i saw that letter in a toilet at cnn on their twatter feed.
The Cowardly Lyin’ General failed us again. We’d have $85 Billion more military equipment if he had done what he said; he flushed that too.

Thoroughly stupid Milley. We are in deep trouble when woke imbeciles like this rise to the top. If Milley was transported back in time to WW2, he might have risen to command a company provided he did what he was told by the first sergeant. War ends, Milley returns to his former occupation, gym coach, provided he lost a few pounds.

I suspect his services will no longer be needed after January 20, 2025 anyway.

...he decided to stay on, later telling his staff that he would instead "just fight [Trump] from the inside.”
And now, I'm even less impressed.

The Butterball should never have been appointed in the first place. Gen Mattis tells the story about Milley basically sneaking into the Oval Office and begging an unsuspecting President Trump for the job.

Was Milley the one responsible for the Afghanistan pull out mess? Hmmm very interesting first Barr, then Dick Cheney ...now Milley...trashing Trump...next.....how do they like high inflation, high gas prices, open borders, high crime rate, disastrous foreign policies, lowest approval of any president in history??????

I have lost all respect for the military. They’re politicians in uniform and sucking us dry with their expensive toys and their aspirations to empire.

It's a REAL shame that this piece of mule excrement didn't resign. There was absolutely NOTHING even slightly wrong about the Lafayette Square visit.
NOTHING.

Milley abandoned tens of billions of dollar's worth of military equipment, hundreds of Afghan allies and untold numbers of American citizens in Afghanistan and a walk across Lafayette Park following a riot is the only thing he's done that he thinks merits a letter of resignation. Disgusting.

FTA: After consulting with current and former national security officials, including former Secretary of Defense and CIA chief Robert Gates, he decided to stay on, later telling his staff that he would instead "just fight [Trump] from the inside.”
Medals Milley just confirmed what we all already knew with that statement.

There is ONE valid measurement of any Policy...did it work/does it work. Particularly where the Military is involved.
After weeks of rioting in DC, and months of rioting across the country...in DC it STOPPED that day.
No body got killed, or even hurt...not BY the cops/military... and...
Cops stopped getting hurt every day, stores stopped getting looted/burned every night, cars stopped getting looted/burned, churches stopped getting looted/burned. People stopped being robbed and beaten on the streets(except in the neighborhoods where they always got robbed and beaten)
Thoroughly Modern Milley seems to think what "Sounds/Looks" good is better than what Works, and forgets HE is not the one elected to "solve" things. Here again he couches his condemnations of Trump in "Racial" terms, the majority of the rioters, instigators, funders, and fomentors of the rioting were NOT anything but white. The individuals, businesses and cops being harmed by the rioters were primarily "Of Color".
