Oklahoma Sooners assistant football coach Cale Gundy has resigned from his position after he used a “shameful” word during a team meeting. The 50-year-old, whose brother Mike Gundy is the head coach at rival Oklahoma State, released a lengthy statement on social media Sunday night, announcing his resignation and apologizing for using the word, which he says he read off of a player’s iPad.
“I owe it to Sooner Nation to be transparent about what led to this decision: Last week, during a film session, I instructed my players to take notes,” the statement read. “I noticed a player was distracted and picked up his iPad and read

After the coach read the iPad script, he could have immediately solved the situation by saying… “Your words, not my words. Who writes this crap? From now on pay attention in class!”

I'm guessing nothing happened to the player whose iPad the coach was reading.

#3, I'm guessing the player was of the tribe which can safely use that word without recrimination.

This is insane. Utter a WORD - not an action - and all HELL comes down on you.
Meanwhile, the left still wants to kill babies, mutilate prepubescent children, and allow rampant crime to go UNPUNISHED.
But, don't you DARE say ni,,er or that is the end of you. It is an ugly word, like the 'c' word for women. But once again the left is toppling statues while children and babies are being destroyed wholesale. It is 100% symbolism over substance.
On this issue, Lenny Bruce had it right.

Double standard. Coach can't use a word a lot of his players use all the time. What's the punishment for the player? Uh-huh, that's what I thought.

It was such a simple, commonsense principle -- and this generation not only let it be taken away, but practically DEMANDED it. smh...

So, did he "resign" voluntarily after uttering that word which shall not be spoken by white people (perfectly acceptable for the student/athletes to use though), or was there an uproar from the team??

The late Don Imus used a far less offensive word and he was almost destroyed by the woke ones. Now even pronouns can get you. Best to pretend you are Harpo Marx.

Why resign? If the university wanted to terminate his contract, make them take that action and then fight them in court. Why surrender without a fight?

An Oklahoma student should be applauded for writing about MAGA. Why does MAGA trigger them so bad? (The kid was writing about MAGA, right? What else could cause such horror on a college campus?) /s off

A lot of anger being directed at the coach, but I imagine he has calculated that if he did not resign (1) he would become the object of a witch hunt, (2) his ability to truly coach up and correct players would be compromised, and (3) opposing teams would use this to recruit against the school he cares very much about. I agree that he should not feel the need to resign (especially when NOTHING will happen to the player involved) but the coach has taken the high road and should be respected for that.

The coach caved. Period. For all we know he, like many 'educators' have had it up to their eyeballs and maybe this was his best and most gracious way out.
The fact remains, we live in a world in which actions are overlooked while words are attacked with insane ferocity.

In certain situations there are words and phrases that should only be used niggardly, i.e. rarely if at all.

USA is a now nation of sniveling, cowering babies being led around on a leash by Marxists who have no mercy. Here, a coach loses his job, maybe after reading mainstream rap lyrics, but instead of blasting the situation, he can't stop wringing his hands in groveling apology after the pain he's caused. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words are terrible weapons kept under lock and key, to be used only by whoever our masters say can use them. And that excludes, you, mister former coach cracker.
