A flamboyant Brooklyn bishop who was robbed in a $1 million jewelry heist during a livestreamed service has defended himself against critics who say his high-profile lifestyle made him an obvious target.
Bishop Lamor Miller-Whitehead — who along with his wife was robbed of watches, chains, rings and earrings as he delivered a sermon Sunday at the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Canarsie — insisted on Instagram, “It’s not about me being flashy.
“It’s about me purchasing want I want to purchase. It’s my prerogative to purchase what I want to purchase,” said the Rolls Royce-driving clergyman, 44, in a video.

I do fondly remember his predecessor, Reverend Ike, who didn’t like to hear the sound of coins in the collection plates. The Lord does NOT want you to be poor!!!

Excuse me, but it IS about being garish & flashy. You advertised & flaunted your wealth (boorish, but not what a lot of us would do) and didn't invest enough in security. I guess you gotta cut corners somewhere to afford a Rolls and bling and look like a pimp from the 70's.

This is how inflation is destroying this country. Yesterday when I first read about this, the value was only $400,000. Obviously I am not investing in the correct place.

Most likely he set up this robbery himself, and will use the insurance proceeds to fund his lifestyle. After all, isn't everyone hurting these days, first with The Pandemic and now Bidenflation? FTA: "Miller-Whitehead — who has ties to Mayor Eric Adams and previously did five years in prison for identity fraud and grand larceny — recalled the moment three assailants robbed him and his 38-year-old wife in the caught-on-video theft."

When there were twelve tribes in ancient Israel, the Levites were tasked with doing only Temple work.
The other eleven tribes tithed to the temple which had it's own expenses plus those tithes supported all the Levites.
110% of those eleven tribe's annual income went to do both; support the Levites and the Temple.
Today whole congregations tithe to support one man and his family.
That might mean he gets thousands of percents of the average congregant's annual earnings.
Not what was intended.

Anyone can claim to be a Bishop in the USA, there is no law against that, especially if a person who calls him or herself a Bishop is able to encourage or even hoodwink members of the public to claim they are his religious flock or followers.
In this case Bishop Miller-Whitehead and his religious efforts are creations of US Black culture, that has evolved and become engrained in Black communities for more then 150 years. Only Black people living in Black communities have the cultural and social wherewithal to change or keep those elements of their culture as they see fit.

yet EVERYTHING in his Life is Tax Free.
Not only is he a pal of Erc Addams, but also Letitia James...who has spent 3 years investigating the "Potential" tax evasion of the Trump Family, in an amount LESS than this false prophet was robbed of live on TV. He still has $100's of Thousands in court judgements outstanding that he has refused to pay to those he Bilked. When arrested he was wearing a red and white mink coat, driving a stolen Land Rover, when his $Half Million mansion was searched piles of cash, stolen guns, a bullet proof vest and fake ID's were found. His sentence was 11 1/3 years>23years. He served 6, Was "suddenly" consecrated as a Bishop upon release and started right in with this scam.

It was 400K
Who but a fool carries real wealth around? I used to know someone who has a nearly flawless 7-carat square cut diamond ring which I saw thirty years ago. What did she do? She commissioned someone very professional to make her an exact copy, fugazi. That's what she wears. The real diamond is in a safe in the earth's mantle, or as nearly to that as it can be buried or secreted.

Allow me to explain the phenomenon known as black prosperity preaching.
Some black preachers (and a few white preachers) sell the idea that if congregants give 10% of their money to the black church controlled by the preacher, the congregants will gain material wealth for doing that.
The preacher then displays his own wealth, taken from the tithings of his mostly poor congregants, as evidence that his prosperity preaching works, and that they, too, can have such great, ostentatious wealth if they tithe.. It is circular logic, that works well on uninformed people.
Some white pastors do the prosperity argument, but they conceal their wealth. Jimmy Swaggart says that people should tithe so that he can send free bibles to the third world countries in their native languages. But he keeps enough to maintain a fleet of seven Mercedes sedans to accommodate his family. And he runs a tv 'sharathon' each month, with a goal of 4 million dollars or so.
Creflo Dollar was one of the top prosperity preachers, said he had to buy a 65 million dollar Gulfstream because Jesus told him to do so, but now has renounced tithing, says it was a scam.
Joel Osteen is another white preacher who apparently does the prosperity stuff,, but I find him too annoying to watch, even for a few minutes.
So, fellow l dotters, that is why the self annointed bishop in NYC has to wear all that jewelry.
And just one more thing - why did this robbery of the bishop make me think of Jussie Smollett?

A far cry from 'the Son of Man has no place to lay his head', isn't it?
