An MSNBC guest reverend vocal about her disagreement with the recent Supreme Court overturning of Roe v. Wade said Friday on "Morning Joe" that abortion is not a "biblical topic."
During a conversation with faith leaders supportive of abortion rights, co-host Mika Brzezinski asked Reverend Dr. Selene Jones about the SCOTUS decision and whether the Bible is being used "incorrectly" to curb abortion access.
Jones, who also serves as the president of the Union Theological Seminary, told Brzezinski that abortion is "not a biblical topic" and claimed there are only "one or two" biblical references to abortion that undoubtedly prioritize the "life and agency" of the mother over a fetus.

It is easy enough for MSNBC to come up with an apostate "faith leader" who can manipulate scripture to meet the needs of a godless throng. Union Theological Seminary long since abandoned the authority of God's Word, and is a fully secular entity.

Of course, this line of reasoning is total nonsense and another cynical attack on people of faith. The Constitution also says nothing about abortion which is the whole point of the Dobbs decision. Nothing in Dobbs prohibits abortion in any way, it simply returns this power to the people of the states who must make the laws they believe are just to all. The difficulty with making laws about the pre-born is that it relies on the meaning of "life" which is subject to differing philosophical, scientific, and religious interpretations. Not everyone agrees on when human life begins but we must respect the public expression of law in each state which must be separated from religious dogma.

The SC decision is not based on Biblical doctrine. It is based on the Constitution. The Reverend is an idiot and a false teacher that we were warned about in Biblical doctrine.

Any "reverend" who thinks killing babies is OK, isn't a real reverend.

Not only is it indeed a biblical topic madame, but God also promises a harsh and terrifying punishment to those who dare to harm His most vulnerable. Mortals don't have the right to steal life. Life is a God given and precious gift. Another topic that is in the NT is Paul telling women like yourself to be silent in the churches, you are not to be in the pulpit. That is reserved for MEN.
There is also a passage in the Bible that talks about how God knew David long, long before his parents even came together. So stop with the 'abortion isn't a biblical topic' and start cracking your Bible again and actually reading it.

We’re promised that in the End Times, and everything points to it already being here, that there will be many false prophets that will pervert God’s Word. Hiya Selene, we know what you are.

OK, Rev, the word abortion is not mentioned in the bible. But more importantly it's also not mentioned in the US Constitution, therefore it's then clearly governed by the 10th amendment. Reverting the decision to the states.
Oh, by the way, the bible talks many times about how God formed us before we were in the womb.

Well, "reverend" Selene Jones, murder is definitely a biblical topic. Have you ever even read the 10 Comandments? Go to hades where you belong.

They're right in only concurring this was not a religious decision; it was a Constitutional decision and the Constitution won.

Of course MSNBC is going to select “faith leaders” who were going to take that pro abortion stance during their programming.

How is the Bible being used to curb abortion. The decision makes no reference to the Bible. The decision is based upon the constitution. Finding the Bible in the decision is like finding the right to abortion in the constitution.

There is NO such thing as a woman Reverend, Pastor, or Priest. Women cannot have spiritual authority over men, period. You know immediately that these are words from a delusional person at best, or the devil himself at worst.

Just because someone claims to be a reverend, pastor, priest, or religious leader does not make it so. Even kids in Sunday School know it is wrong to kill because the Bible tells us this. It is not some mysterious doctrine we can debate. It is clear, in black and white. Thou shalt not kill. This woman is a heretic or an apostate. Pick your poison. She is not a woman of God.

Whether murder is a Biblical topic or not is not the issue. The issue is that decisions about murder are adjudicated at the state level.

Matthew 19
13 Then were there brought unto him (Jesus) little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Even Jesus's disciples were wrong for the upteenth time. Man is not, nor can, ever be perfect while in the flesh. Only Jesus the living son of "I AM".

She is president of one of the most liberal seminaries in the US! In the run up to WW-2 Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who planned to do post doctoral studies there, found Union Theological Seminary in NY was too far left to offer him anything useful---that was in the 1930's.
This woman clearly does not know or understand the Bible.
