An MSNBC guest reverend vocal about her disagreement with the recent Supreme Court overturning of Roe v. Wade said Friday on "Morning Joe" that abortion is not a "biblical topic." During a conversation with faith leaders supportive of abortion rights, co-host Mika Brzezinski asked Reverend Dr. Selene Jones about the SCOTUS decision and whether the Bible is being used "incorrectly" to curb abortion access. Jones, who also serves as the president of the Union Theological Seminary, told Brzezinski that abortion is "not a biblical topic" and claimed there are only "one or two" biblical references to abortion that undoubtedly prioritize the "life and agency" of the mother over a fetus.

A poll from the Harvard University Center for American Political Studies (CAPS) has found that Harris enjoys 39 support to the Republican governor's 37 percent in a theoretical contest. (snip) The poll showed Trump defeating both Biden and Harris in hypothetical 2024 contests. Trump had 43 percent support to Biden's 40 percent, with 17 percent undecided.
In a theoretical race against Harris, Trump performed even better, garnering 45 percent to Harris' 39 percent with 16 percent of respondents undecided.
Fewer Americans than ever say that they believe that the Bible should be taken literally, while a record number of Americans now say they view the holy book as a compilation of "fables, legends, history and moral precepts recorded by man," according to a Gallup poll.
One in five Americans surveyed said the Bible is the "actual word of God, to be taken literally," about half off from the high point in 1984. The survey also shows that as fewer Americans are ranking religion as "very important," the number of those who believe the Bible came directly from God decreases.
A judge issued a temporary block to a university policy that censored three Christian students who had expressed opposition to same-sex marriage on religious grounds. (snip) According to the lawsuit, the students attended an LGBT event on campus with the intention of representing a biblical perspective on marriage and sexual ethics.

A California doctor is planning to offer abortions on a "floating clinic" in the Gulf of Mexico to circumvent state bans on the procedure. (snip) The plan is for the ship to act as a "comprehensive" reproductive health clinic with a full team of licensed health care providers offering surgical abortions up to 14 weeks, contraception and other care to patients living in states where such services are restricted, according to its website.
"Those in the most southern parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas may be closer to the coast than to facilities in bordering states where abortion and reproductive health care are available," the website states.

Police advocates in New York City are planning a “law enforcement story hour,” with the goal of sending NYPD officers into schools to read to young kids. “They can be from all over the nation and stop into schools with the permission of principals all over the city. They are going to be there to show kids that police officers are not bad people and hopefully influence kids to become a police officer one day,” said NYPD Sgt. I wrote here about the sensational story of a 10-year-old rape victim in Ohio who had to travel to Indiana for an abortion. The story, phoned into an Indiana newspaper by an abortionist who seems to spend most of her time promulgating pro-abortion propaganda in the press, spread around the world almost instantaneously. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has tested positive for COVID, his office said Sunday. “As a part of his regular testing regimen, Leader Schumer received a positive test result for COVID-19,” said Angelo Roefaro, a spokesman for the Democrat senator from New York.
