Sen. Chuck Schumer tests positive for COVID-19

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has tested positive for COVID, his office said Sunday. “As a part of his regular testing regimen, Leader Schumer received a positive test result for COVID-19,” said Angelo Roefaro, a spokesman for the Democrat senator from New York. Schumer, 71, is fully vaccinated, double boosted and experiencing “very mild symptoms,” according to his office. He plans to quarantine through the week in his Brooklyn home and will work remotely while the Senate is in session, Roefaro said. “He greatly appreciates the protection the vaccine has provided him and encourages everyone to test regularly and get vaccinated and boosted,” the spokesman said.

Comments:

Former president Trump not long ago reminded us that this is a "pandemic of the unvaccinated," so any of us who shirked our patriotic duty to take the shots and the boosters can thank themselves for the fully vaccinated and boosted Chuck Schumer (America's leading light) falling ill with the covid.

So? Please no more announcements that someone in the gov't has covid. We don't care. So many of us have had it - it's a cold or a flu. You get over it. Except if infected senior citizens are put back in Senior Homes to infect everyone there- they are our most vulnerable. They also had to die alone. Still waiting for the arrests of the governors on that one.

A company in Fort Pierce, Florida–not far from Parkland, site of the 2018 school shooting that killed 17–is stirring controversy with its plan to protect children from school shootings by hiding them in bullet-resistant steel enclosures. To many, the idea of directing children into stark metal boxes serves as an alarming symbol of a country that fails time and again to address the causes of its gun violence crisis.(Snip)John Corrado, vice-president of National Safety Shelters, says the company sees its shelters as a response to an intractable problem. “Obviously, the fewer the guns, the better. New data shows Covid cases in Singapore and New Zealand have overtaken Australia in the latest Omicron wave despite ultra-strict mask mandates. Masks are worn everywhere in the densely-populated Asian city while New Zealanders are forced to wear them in all indoor public places, such as shopping centres and libraries. But both now have higher case numbers per million than Australia, where compulsory mask rules have been abandoned in most indoor settings. These figures appear to smash the push now on in Australia for a return to mask mandates, which are currently compulsory only on public transport and in aged care and healthcare centres.

New York City’s homeless shelters are being overrun with asylum-seeking migrants as the immigration crisis at the southern border worsens—with nearly 3,000 arriving in recent weeks, Mayor Eric Adams warned Monday. Adams called on President Biden to send “additional federal resources immediately” so the city can handle the overflow. “If we do not get these urgently needed resources, we may struggle to provide the proper level of support our clients deserve, while also facing challenges as we serve both a rapidly growing shelter population and new clients who are seeking asylum,” Adams said in a prepared statement.
