Former President Trump said he’s not ruling out Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as a possible running mate in a potential 2024 presidential bid.
When asked in a Newsmax interview Thursday about a Trump–DeSantis ticket, Trump said he has a good relationship with the Republican governor.
“Well, I get along with him,” Trump said. “I was very responsible for his success, because I endorsed him and he went up like a rocket ship.”
Trump was referring to his 2018 endorsement of DeSantis. And after Trump’s endorsement, DeSantis’s support rapidly increased before he defeated Democrat Andrew Gillum.

DeSantis is smarter than to agree to run with Trump if Trump decides to run.
If trump runs he will be attacked just as he was before, and any VP who runs with him will be stained.

My Republican dream ticket. The democrats wouldn't know what hit them.
Who on the democrat side could run against them? Michelle or Gavin?

I think if it's a Trump/DeSantis Ticket even the folks who couldn't bring themselves to vote for Trump in 2020 will vote for him because they KNOW DeSantis will be an Excellent VP and more importantly, a great Presidential Candidate in 2028! Trump and DeSantis will be Dynamite, bringing even larger crowds than Trump has alone. I don't care what the Left Throws at them, I think they would be unbeatable. Also, Trump has learned a lot about who he should hire! He had no idea about the horrible Politics that surrounded him last time he won. This time he will listen to his most trusted advisors. DeSantis would play a great part in that as well as he has a keen eye as to who to trust. He's proven that by his Team here in Florida!

"I was very responsible for his success..."
I will vote for Trump, but he is a narcissist of the highest order.

Whoever runs will be viciously attacked. The only question is will The Gullibles believe that Trump can overpower a SS driver from the back seat of a limousine that he’s not in. (Imagine the Three Stooges and Moe says “give me that steering wheel” and Curly rips it off and hands it to him. Ah, The Gullibles and their childish beliefs.)

Knock 'em all off balance by having Trump as VP. He'd be in a much more influential position there. His ideas work but the hoi polloi hate him. DeSantis can lead stronger and avoid many slings and arrows that Trump would draw. Trump can advise and guide on policy quite effectively and go to state funerals to keep media distracted. And c'mon - his baggage, flaws and age are considerations for him NOT to be top dog, not to mention the utter destruction the Left will wage in their 'nothing to lose' mindset against him just because.

Those who think President Trump shouldn't run because he has too much baggage should reevaluate. Trump was the best President in recent times, and ANY REPUBLICAN who runs will be attacked, smeared and lied about by the left. Trump knows how to handle it. Plus, IMO we the people need retribution for the fraudulent 2020 election.

Trump claims he is responsible for the governor’s success. That is only true if you look at getting elected as the mark of success. DeSantis became a household name through his ability to govern, not just getting elected, something Biden and Pelosi have managed for decades.

A quirk in the law can be an issue if the President and VP are from the same state. It has to do with the rules of the electoral college and could apply in a close race. Neither Trump or DeSantis will be moving from FL and 2024 will be close.
If Trump runs, he does not need DeSantis to win FL. He would be better off to pick a qualified individual from a swing state, a female/ minority, or both.
If Trump wins the presidency in 2028 campaign, his VP would be seen as the likely heir-apparent. That puts DeSantis in a difficult spot.
DeSantis may decide to run in 2024. Even if trump wins the primary, DeSantis can demonstrate he is a contender for 2028 if he does well.

There's truth in that assessment, #4. I wonder how much better things would have turned out for our country if that nice, polite gentleman I voted for in 2012 had won.

Thanks #7. It is a shame that too many cannot see the full-on press to believe the NeverTrumper talking points. We are reminded all over again how this narcissist got things DONE that these mannerly girly men establishment pols could never manage to over the decades with all their government experience. PDJT has no more ego problem than any of the other DC politicians - they just hide it better.

This is going to be a hot topic among L-Dotters for the next 6 -9 months.
Trump may choose not to run (I think he is only 50/50). And Governor Ron is not about to go in 2024 - family considerations and his obligations to the people of FL preclude it.
We really need to start looking outside the box. Mike Pompeo, for one, is worthy of a hearing. Tom Cotton might enter the picture.

I think that {fill in the blank} and {fill in the blank} should run in 2024. As for the first blank - that person's last name should start with a "T".

these people do not understand who they are dealing with when they conjure up VP's for our President - this is a man who does it his way or not al all and to try to manipulate him will just cause him to reject every idea that does not fit into HIS plan - he does not go off half-cocked and unprepared on any issue he is about to confront or decide upon - be careful those of you who think you can manipulate Donald J. Trump because you might think you're ahead of him but you're already 5 steps behind him.

May I say, #14, Mike Pompeo is a good guy but he has worked in the swamp and with all the top establishment players for decades. Will he dismantle the evil heads of agencies which will mean he and FAMILY will get the worst of treatment? I just haven’t seen any sign of that.
