Heavy duty trucks were parked in front of police headquarters in Akron Friday morning as the northeast Ohio city is on edge after reports a Black man fleeing a traffic stop Monday was shot and killed by eight police police officers who reportedly fired ninety rounds–hitting the man, 25-year-old Jayland Walker, sixty times. Akron announced Thursday the city’s four-day Rib, White and Blue Festival was being canceled, however there are still fireworks displays planned for Monday.

Will be interesting to see if they react differently than Minneapolis or New York. Not sure the position of the police chief on riot control. Gov Dewine had better call up the guard in advance as the locals may not tolerate BLM burning looting and murder.

They clearly need better ammo, or more range time. Sixty hits? Gee, I had two older women students on the range yesterday, I guarantee they could have done far better than that with just the 6-8 hours training I have given them.

I didn’t know criminal types were any longer afraid of the police. Why run when you can cow the cops with fear of BLM backlash?
What a gift to BLM!! The money will roll in!! Rich rich rich!
Sad for the family. Maybe BLM will donate 1/5 of .0005 percent of the take from their loved one’s death.

If they hit him 60 times he'd be a piece of hamburger. The media misfits attempt to agitate another George "Fentanyl" Floyd riot over some useless slug who picked the wrong day to do the wrong thing to the cops.

These 9mm guns just arent adequate. When I lived in OKC in the early 90's they shot a similar number of times into a small pickup and if I heard the scanner right, he not only survived but his truck survived. They had just traded their .357's in for the 9mm crunchentickers.

Ooops - - Little Jayland thought he was in Chicago - - where the police couldn't pursue him.
I'd recommend he take remedial geography lessons - - if he weren't already dead.

If the guy would just have stopped, the police would have either:
A. Given a warning or a ticket, and he would be free to go.
B. Been arrested, maybe booked, and then he would be free to go.

The perp was "REPORTEDLY" shot 60 times. Was he? The irresponsible media does not know for sure but runs with the story anyway. Killed by 8 cops for extra effect to ensure maximum racial animosity and unrest. The report had it's desired effect with the cancellation of the festival and sure to follow protests by people who still will not know (or care about) the facts of what really occurred. All because the now deceased did not want to stop for a simple traffic stop.

Democrats taking different tact this time. Try a red state in a kind of red town. Make the Republican Governor look bad if he takes action to quell rioting.
I’ll bet we see an exact repeat of 2020:
1. BLM rioting
2. Covid outbreak and lockdowns
3. Midterm election stolen
Why change the script if it hasn’t been debunked.

Think how many children might have been saved if these officers had worked in Uvalde, Texas? That said, I believe police car chases for anything less than a suspected felony or imminent risk to life are no longer warranted.

It appears the deceased had fired shots from the vehicle he was fleeing in, hopefully some vids will show that. Walker stops and takes off on foot. Armed or not at that point, he is perceived as a threat and gets comprehensively ventilated. Open and shut? You know this won't play out that way. Batten down the hatches and watch your six wherever you are.

I cry BS on this person being shot sixty times. Sounds like echos might be involved here. One shot is fired, and it produces an echo that sounds like three or four shots fired as the echos bounce off buildings. How many spent shells were found?

This is why the criminals want 'no pursuit' laws. Do I feel sorry for this guy? Nope. Getting into a firefight with police always ends badly. That's why criminals shouldn't do it.

60 shots? So what? Eight cops all shooting at a suspect they believe is threatening them with bodily harm can be expected to pump a lot of lead in the perp. if he is high on meth or some other drug could allow him to continue the shootout even after suffering fatal wounds. Anyone that flees from Police must be treated a dangerous person. The widespread violence in our society today probably keeps cops on edge and when they feel their life is threatened they react very aggressively. They want to go home to their families every day too. It also doesn't help when DA's around the country let so many violent perps back on the street. Cops likely feel like they're unappreciated and not respected.

It's sad that this idiot didn't just pull over and take his ticket like a man.
It's sad that this idiot decided to initiate a firefight with the police.
It's sad that these officers will have to live with having killed a person, no matter how warranted.
If Akron allows a riot to take place ... they're a sad excuse for a city government. Call the NG now, and make it clear that the weekend will be peaceful. Period.

Most people would get the idea to submit to authorities the moment any gun is pointed at them. Mighty strange though this guy didn't drop until 60 rounds were pumped into him/it/her/{insert pronoun]. No need to cancel the fireworks.

Here is a quote from the admittedly sketchy article: '3News Investigates examined autopsy records, including about 150 photos of Walker’s wounds and about 60 photos of bullet fragments'. 60 photos of 'bullet fragments' doesn't equate to 60 bullets. And if it is 60 fragments, then by definition there would be fewer than 60 bullets. And there could be 150 photos of two wounds. Modern journalism...the profession that Time forgot.

I am sad for the perp's family and anyone who loves him. For the young man to engage in behavior that lands him in the clink indicates he's troubled and lost his way. He paid for his bad behavior with his own life.
I am sad for the cops who shot at this guy too. Most cops are just trying to do their job. They are under tremendous pressure to protect the public and to protect the rights of everyone, including the ne'er-do-wells. Even crooks have rights. Cops are damned if they act with too much force -- accused of racism and even murder. If they don't act with sufficient force, they are accused of dereliction of duty and cowardice. In the end, being a cop can ruin your life and even land you in jail.
There is not enough money in all the world to make me want to be a cop.

Does it really matter if the perpetrator was hit by six rounds or sixty rounds fired by the police, as either way he is dead as a door nail!
The most important thing in this era that politicians who represent Black communities should impress on their constituents is not to violently resist the police stopping them or arresting them, and certainly they should not use any weapon like a firearm or knife against the police. As in the long-term the police arresting them does not mean much in the long-term, because it is what happens after that in the courtroom that counts.
