Heavy duty trucks were parked in front of police headquarters in Akron Friday morning as the northeast Ohio city is on edge after reports a Black man fleeing a traffic stop Monday was shot and killed by eight police police officers who reportedly fired ninety rounds–hitting the man, 25-year-old Jayland Walker, sixty times. Akron announced Thursday the city’s four-day Rib, White and Blue Festival was being canceled, however there are still fireworks displays planned for Monday.

Will be interesting to see if they react differently than Minneapolis or New York. Not sure the position of the police chief on riot control. Gov Dewine had better call up the guard in advance as the locals may not tolerate BLM burning looting and murder.

They clearly need better ammo, or more range time. Sixty hits? Gee, I had two older women students on the range yesterday, I guarantee they could have done far better than that with just the 6-8 hours training I have given them.

These 9mm guns just arent adequate. When I lived in OKC in the early 90's they shot a similar number of times into a small pickup and if I heard the scanner right, he not only survived but his truck survived. They had just traded their .357's in for the 9mm crunchentickers.

The perp was "REPORTEDLY" shot 60 times. Was he? The irresponsible media does not know for sure but runs with the story anyway. Killed by 8 cops for extra effect to ensure maximum racial animosity and unrest. The report had it's desired effect with the cancellation of the festival and sure to follow protests by people who still will not know (or care about) the facts of what really occurred. All because the now deceased did not want to stop for a simple traffic stop.

It appears the deceased had fired shots from the vehicle he was fleeing in, hopefully some vids will show that. Walker stops and takes off on foot. Armed or not at that point, he is perceived as a threat and gets comprehensively ventilated. Open and shut? You know this won't play out that way. 60 shots? So what? Eight cops all shooting at a suspect they believe is threatening them with bodily harm can be expected to pump a lot of lead in the perp. if he is high on meth or some other drug could allow him to continue the shootout even after suffering fatal wounds. Anyone that flees from Police must be treated a dangerous person. The widespread violence in our society today probably keeps cops on edge and when they feel their life is threatened they react very aggressively. They want to go home to their families every day too. It also doesn't help when DA's around the country let so many violent perps back on the street. Cops likely feel like they're unappreciated and not respected.

Here is a quote from the admittedly sketchy article: '3News Investigates examined autopsy records, including about 150 photos of Walker’s wounds and about 60 photos of bullet fragments'. 60 photos of 'bullet fragments' doesn't equate to 60 bullets. And if it is 60 fragments, then by definition there would be fewer than 60 bullets. And there could be 150 photos of two wounds. Modern journalism...the profession that Time forgot.

I am sad for the perp's family and anyone who loves him. For the young man to engage in behavior that lands him in the clink indicates he's troubled and lost his way. He paid for his bad behavior with his own life. I am sad for the cops who shot at this guy too. Most cops are just trying to do their job. They are under tremendous pressure to protect the public and to protect the rights of everyone, including the ne'er-do-wells. Even crooks have rights. Cops are damned if they act with too much force -- accused of racism and even murder. If they don't act with sufficient force, they are accused of dereliction of duty and cowardice. In the end, being a cop can ruin your life and even land you in jail. There is not enough money in all the world to make me want to be a cop.

Does it really matter if the perpetrator was hit by six rounds or sixty rounds fired by the police, as either way he is dead as a door nail! The most important thing in this era that politicians who represent Black communities should impress on their constituents is not to violently resist the police stopping them or arresting them, and certainly they should not use any weapon like a firearm or knife against the police. As in the long-term the police arresting them does not mean much in the long-term, because it is what happens after that in the courtroom that counts.

Not since the decade leading up to the Civil War has there been as much discussion about the possibility of the United States splitting into two or more countries as there has been in the past 10 years. The reality is that this nation has effectively split into two countries which are, for the moment, tenuously living side-by-side. Race or ethnicity has been the underlying foundation in the creation of every nation in the history of mankind except the United States, as its founding was based on the tenet that all men are created equal and are endowed with certain unalienable rights that government cannot abrogate.

The whole abortion thing kind of baffles me because it is absolutely bizarre that anyone would choose this particular hill to die on or, rather, to kill a bunch of babies on. From a utilitarian angle, it's certainly not a great banner to be carrying because most normal people consider the whole thing horribly distasteful and frankly don't want to think about it. Ideologically, liberals could have gone either way. It's not like they believe in anything. It's not like they had to choose to defend abortion instead of opposing it. They have no problem telling people what they can and can't do as a principle.

For instance, we are now given to understand that Markle is furious over the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and that her husband — who apparently was once an individual of some importance, and was even in line for the British throne — is a “feminist.” (snip) one gets a distinct feeling that Markle’s husband is whatever Markle wants him to be. Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar said that her arrival in Minnesota exposed her to more gun violence than living in an east African refugee camp did. Speaking at the Gun Violence Community Conversation at North High in Minneapolis on Thursday, Omar said: 'For six years, I had the privilege of not seeing any violence, until I moved to Minnesota.' Omar continued: 'My first year in Minnesota I both saw a person shot at Peavey Park, dead on the floor, three weeks after my father and I arrived in Minneapolis.
