The plight of female basketball star Brittney Griner relating to her arrest on drug charges in Russia earlier this year is even more uncertain than ever. Yesterday in a court near Moscow, the legal prosecution of Ms. Griner finally began, with her trial kicking off in an abbreviated session. Prosecutors had intended to call on four witnesses, but only two showed up to give testimony.
Cameras were not allowed in the courtroom, but footage of Griner entering the proceedings showed her sporting a white and black Jimi Hendrix t-shirt. Media reports after the court had adjourned explained that during her time in the courtroom,

If we still had a moral and patriotic government, her passport would be canceled and she would spend the rest of her life in Russia.

Hey Brittany, how's it feel to be presumed guilty until proven innocent. It's not the United States Brittany. The irony of the situation is not lost. Have fun in a Soviet style prison.

She's right where she belongs. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time, a phrase common in her culture. When she graduates in 10 years, she will be fluent in colloquial Russian. Her "wife", "husband", "buddy" or whatever will have spent all her money and moved on. Her career will be over, except for a possible memoir of her time in Russian gulags. She asked for it...she got it.

Please keep her (or them?). Maybe she can learn the Russian national anthem while she's incarcerated for a very long time.

So what freedoms was the article referring to in the U.S. if you are a Republican exercising your constitutional rights to protest in front of the capital building? She clearly broke the law which is more than you can say about the January 6 prisoners.

FTA: “ What’s particularly troubling for Griner is this factoid: In Russian criminal trials, the success rate of the prosecution is 99%, giving Griner about a 1% to get off, barring any other type of side deal between the governments. To win 99% of one’s cases means there must be some pretty shrewd prosecutorial attorneys over there. Or, alternatively, perhaps those accused of crimes in Russia are not afforded the same basic rights as those of us here in the U.S.”
There is a third possibility: the cases are carefully vetted before they are tried so that defendants are not put through the trial process when the case is not extremely strong. This would in fact be the hoped for status, not a bunch of defendants tried on weak cases. But who knows why the percentages are what they are in Russia; I wouldn’t want to find out first hand.
The bidet regime is using the US criminal justice system to abuse its enemies. That’s really the worst possible abuse of that system since it seeks to preclude two party transparency.

Ugly, tall, and dumb; just like No-Brain. She is a grotesque sight to behold. I read that at birth she/he had both male and female equipment. For some reason, her parents decided, by surgery, to make her exclusively female.

If you are overseas and have your passport canceled you can still use it for one way return. To cover myself I am not a lawyer.

That story about two kinds of equipment is false, she was always teased for her looks and in interviews she said it hurt her, but compare her to a tranny and it's obvious she's a natural-born woman, albeit very athletic. You can always tell.
As for her patriotism deficit, seems they no longer teach 'The man without a country' in schools these days, do they? What a shame. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_Without_a_Country

Not sure where #3 gets the 10 yr sentence, but athletes can lose a step in that timeframe. I'm just sayin' A career where its common knowledge you dodrugs is limited. Ask Kareem.
After she's convicted, the Big Guy (or his son) will make a trade for her. 10% of whatever millions are left will probably look like a decent deal to her!

I can't work up much sympathy for her. Despite having a successful career in the WNBA, she decided that the U.S. is unfair and racist. Now she gets to see first-hand how a totalitarian regime operates. I'm not naive enough to think she'll learn anything though. When/if she gets out, I predict she will still blame the U.S. for not doing enough to get her out sooner.

I’ll bet a small consultant’s fee of $1,000,000 paid to a certain Hunter Biden might get someone at the State Department to give a brief look into this case. $2,000,000 might get FJB to give Putin a call.

Since she hates our country so much, an extended stay in Russia might be a bice change for her. Maybe she will meet a nice police guard while she is there and decide to stay.

Remember when DiAngelo Ball, Cody RIley and Levar Hill from UCLA, were arrested in China for shoplifting? President Trump was able to negotiate their release from a Chinese prision and return back to the USA. Unfortunately our current President doesn't have the skill, respect or outright concern for US Citizens. Unfortunately Brittany Greiner is the victim of a very incompetent, uncaring and unrespected administration.

Re #14, That's for political prisoners. I've walked past the building....crossed the street, just to be safe, it's only a couple of blocks from Red Square, and it gives of a really creepy vibe, or at least I imagined it did.

Hey, Russia is the type of Socialist "paradise" these America-hating thug athletes dream of (as long as they are part of the ruling Politburo and not one of the oppressed masses of peasants).
Sadly, she will come out of this hating the USA even more than she already did for not dropping everything to "rescue" a "great American sports hero" like her!!!
It doesn't matter that the WNBA (who couldn't beat most Division 3 men's college teams and some high school boys team) couldn't survive two weeks without their sugar daddies in the NBA paying all their bills!!!
