In an act of breathtaking defiance and spitefulness not seen since Southern states engaged in "massive resistance" to the Supreme Court's 1954 Brown v. Board decision, the New York State Legislature gave a middle finger to the Supreme Court and voted Friday to effectively nullify the Court's decision last week in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen.
After an extraordinary session for the explicit purpose of defying the Court, Senate Bill S51001 was rammed through on a party-line vote by the Democratic supermajority, passed the Assembly, and received the signature of Gov. Kathleen Hochul.

For some reason I am reminded of a death penalty case, back in the 1990s, located in California. I don't remember the details, but I do remember the 9th Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals kept trying to ignore and nullify the U.S. Supreme Court, which had ruled against the murderer more than once.
When the 9th Circuit kept issuing stays of execution, the U.S. Supreme Court finally told the lower courts to stop, and to execute the murderer.
I wonder if somewhere in the near future, the U.S. Supreme Court will have to do the same with New York.
Then I remember that Chief Judas John Roberts is in charge.

Let’s see what the statistics are in six months for crimes committed with guns. Criminals do not follow the law. That’s what makes them criminals.

The left is terrified that crime will drop dramatically if the populace is allowed to carry. They can’t let that happen since it would destroy their narrative. They must not allow this to happen no matter the cost.

In Voting Rights law, Courts have required redistricting schemes
to be approved before they can be implemented.
New York may find itself in the same kind of shackles regarding 2A law.
You pass anything you like, but it will have to be "reviewed" before you can enforce it...
Is there much difference between {historical civil rights violations of voters}
and {historical violations of those voters 2A rights}?
Chicken or egg?

Leaders should remove their armed security and show us how well it works to be without protection from the criminals that they set free. Be the example to all. See if others want to be just like you.

Insanity. The only "gun-free zone" I have trust in is Disneyland due to the stringent security and screening that takes place between your car and the park entrance. You don't need a firearm only when you can be assured that no one else has one and everyone around you and your family has good intent. That scenario doesn't work in public society, unless the unelected governor of New York intends to place metal detectors by the millions around her state and deploy an army of Gestapo-like enforcers - and that's a society that no one would want to live in.

New York State provides us with a perfect example of what can happen in the rest of the U.S. when the Marxists win. There can be no better example of how oppressive government will eviscerate God Given rights of citizens.
Now the Supreme Court must deal soon with oppressive New York government.
I am thankful that my father left that state when he was 25. Whew!

Enforce your law New York let's see how that going to work. Maybe the Supremes can't do anything, but you will meet again. I'm curious about this trial balloon. What a poster said, When the Marxist take over who is going to do their bidding when they ban citizens owning firearms. Just say no! FNY

Petty and spiteful. The left are childlike in their thinking and if they don't get what they want, they throw spoiled brat tantrums. The is mainly an attempt to delay implementation of SCOTUS ruling. The lawsuits will be flying, costing the taxpayers money and will end up being reviewed again and the unconstitutional parts tossed out again.

Sorry Hochul, the 2A is still valid, and we, the people, do not need Government, any form of Government, approval to own and bear any arms (not defined), Period. Go pound sand. Your legislation is unconstitutional and doesn't meet the standard set by the 2A.

Maybe NY should secede from the Union and they can do what they want. Even marry their horse and joy the Pride events. But, the rest of the States don't have to recognize their new country and and by doing so contain them in their little world of crime and stupidity.

Nothing will happen right now with the progressives in charge. However, come November, New York will start to face increasing pressure. In Jan. 2025, they may find federal aid restricted based on their non compliance. That will put severe pressure on the needy liberal cities in NY. One thing Republicans need to make sure of in 2025, that the states are NOT allowed to flout federal law.

So now apparently the decisions of the "Highest Court in the Land" mean nothing if "they" don't like what is decided. Why not? They cheat to keep their power, why not cheat to keep bad law?

Stop complaining and start suing. Sue and sue and sue and never let up until the States ruling is eviscerated. Give the bastages a taste of their own medicine.

I am sure I don’t understand this. It seems like even if you have a concealed carry permit, you are not permitted to carry outside your home? And, if you do have a firearm in your home, you’re required to post a sign? I would think a good portion of New York’s population will soon be in jail if, indeed, the state is actually prosecuting felonies.

This will be a perfect example of what the Founders envisioned. Each state, controlling their own, serving as a research platform for what works and what doesn't. I feel sorry for the heavily regulated Blue States that will continue their downward spiral in this great experiment, but you get what you vote for.

Okay, the fight’s on. All you New Yorkers that get a concealed carry permit next year, sue the state for violating your Second Amendment rights. Bury the state in lawsuits. When one of those cases gets to the Supreme Court, Thomas et al will slap New York upside the head. New York is trying to drag this out as long as possible. The only way to stop them is through the courts; now, the law is on our side.
Illinois tried this a few years ago after McDonald v. Chicago. The state just refused to comply with the law, by dragging its feet. They instituted a rule that applicants had to show proficiency, then closed all the gun ranges in the city. A federal judge had to force the state to set up a licensing system for concealed carry permits. He gave them six weeks to do it.

The court will quickly find that their "nullification" is unconstitutional, too. Sorry, the rule is very, very simple, and equally CLEAR, you hateful dolts.
"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".
And "interesting and clever methods" of infringement are STILL INFRINGEMENT, you arrogant fools.
They are in denial and imagine that all it will take is some "clever new wording" and a "slick, innovative approach" to retain their deep, all pervading desire to block our gun rights. As the opening sentence says "i an act of breathtaking defiance and spitefulness ..." yep.
Not going to pass Constitutional muster. They WILL lose, again. And again, until they learn that they WILL stop infringing.

Re #3, "terrified that.....". It is a certainty. In ALL other states, when CCW rules were relaxed and more people began to carry guns, crimes against persons decreased. It will happen there, too.
And they ARE wrong, and it will be proven again.

Demon-Rats prove over and over again that they have no grasp of logic, reason, or facts.
If they did manage to succeed with this tactic, what would stop all the conservative, pro-gun states from using the same tactics to get around all federal gun-control laws?!?!?!?!? Heck, while we are at it, let's do away with "gay" marriage using the same tactics. The list goes on and on.
And if the conservative states did that, you would hear the lie-berals screaming bloody murder. But all the conservative states would have to say is "New York precedence"!!!!!!!
