In May, a South Philadelphia man stepped out of his house for a smoke when police said a gun-wielding man rode up on a bicycle and demanded money. The homeowner dropped his cigarette, pulled out his licensed gun, and fatally shot the would-be robber in the head.
In March, an assistant manager at a Dollar General store in North Philadelphia used his legal gun to shoot a man who police said burst into the store in a ski mask, demanded money, and threatened to kill the cashier. “I’m opening up the register for you, sir,” said the manager, who instead pulled his own handgun and shot the robber

This will cut down on the idiots who think a gun makes them god, and as their numbers drop, there will be fewer crimes, and more people considering crimes will think to themselves, "Let's not..."

Soon there will be complaints "it ain't safe to rob a store or a person no more! What be de world commin' to?' Indeed! Great that folks are weaking up, taking the law into their own hands since we are running out of police and low life DA's putting the thugs right back on the street.

They are trying to tie new gun ownership with the crime. I doubt there's a correlation.

With people taking out the trash at this rate, no wonder Dems have to bring new voters over the border.

Typical liberal crapola. "Ooooohhh, there's more guns on the street! It's the Wild West!" They mention the "landmark" study about the danger of guns in the home, but they NEVER tell the truth - that the "landmark" study was thoroughly discredited as soon as it was published, and many times since then. They also fail to mention that in the days of the "wild west" murders were not that frequent; EVERYBODY was armed. They sound almost sad that these career criminals ended up dead while trying to commit another crime.

I don't think this is so terrible, OP. People exercising their 2nd amendment rights and defending themselves with their legally obtained and registered firearms sounds just fine to me.

The articles three examples saved the taxpayers a lot of money for incarceration. There were less killings in the wild west because of open carry. Colt, Smith & Wesson are the great equalizers to perps who intend to do you harm. Open carry deters the perps.

In an armed society, the police are, in part, there to protect the criminals from vigilante justice. Get rid of the police and guess what happens.

This is great news. Each one of those justified homicides are a good person killing someone that tried to kill them. Bad guys going down more often now, good guys prevailing.
Very good news for us good guys. Not so good for the criminal class. This will anger the Dems, the criminals are their voters.

Actually, @#13, a shooting in self defense absolutely IS a homicide. It is one that is then ruled justifiable, based on the affirmative legal defense commonly referred to as "self defense".

If criminals believe people can kill them they will move towards less confrontational crimes.

best way to not have to prosecute as homicide, label it a justified murder, works every time

Re #12, check again. YES, a killing self defense IS always a homicide. But, some homicides are within the exceptions laid out by law which make them justifiable, and not punished.
But still a homicide. The word only means "killing a human", and has not implications on the legality of the same. We have watched so many TV shows where all "homicides" are criminal murders, we tend to think that's what the word means. It doesn't.
And how to I know this? From being trained to be a concealed carry instructor, and qualified in two states to teach the courses, this is made very clear in the training for instructors.

It's unfortunate that the elderly gentleman beaten at the gas pump in Philly yesterday wasn't a trained, concealed carrier! That would have given us four feel good stories today!
