Chicago - Chicago police officers will no longer be allowed to chase people on foot simply because they run away or give chase over minor offenses, the department said Tuesday, more than a year after two foot pursuits ended with officers fatally shooting a 13-year-old boy and 22-year-old man. (Snip) Under the policy, officers may give chase if they believe a person is committing or about to commit a felony, a Class A misdemeanor such as domestic battery, or a serious traffic offense such as drunken driving and street racing that could risk injuring others. Officers won't be allowed to chase people on foot if they suspect them of minor

Just shut down all the police stations and give the keys to the thugs. Let nature takes it's course.

Wow, it sounds like being a cop in Chicago is about to be the easiest job in America. Just spend your shift walking down the street watching the bad guys do their thing -- knowing you are just following orders when you saunter into the donut shop for a snack instead of chasing the bad guys.
While Chicago burns, these guys will be earning their pensions enjoying the nice weather and flirting with cute girls, maybe stopping to shoot a few baskets with the boys in the yard. Sounds like a cushy life. Of course, the Chicago police will all move their families out of Chicago, so they won't become victims of the uncontrolled carnage that will be the streets of Chicago!!!

Another effort to increase lawlessness and crime. All part of the efforts to drive conservatives residents out of town to increase democrat voter rolls and guarantee election wins. I see how it works now.

"... officers may give chase if they believe a person is committing or about to commit a felony ..."
But apparently not if they have previously committed a felony or even multiple felonies and an officer recognizes them from an outstanding warrant.

Govt to Citizens..."You are on your own", we can and will show up to make you fill out a Report, but that is all...and no promise that the reported crime will be followed up upon. Certainly not prosecuted fully, net zero incarceration is our goal.
Other than...of course...those who WANT to go to Jail for the educational benefits, free housing, food and healthcare offered.

Makes me recall a funny meme from years ago. "Dude, should I make this guy chase me?" Found it again by searching for that line on google images.

Thieves and thugs protecting other thieves and thugs. Criminals protecting other criminals. They call it social justice. It's anything but.

Probably because most Chicago police officers are too fat and can't run. Are they allowed to say, "Stop police!" or do they have to say, "Stop please?"

It is just not fair that the fat criminals cannot run away as fast as the other criminals! We must be equitable and fair. This will open up a new crime market for out of shape fat minorities who try to get away but just can't get up to speed as needed. Now they just need to be able to walk away.

First off, the hat that the Chicago police wear reminds me of a cab driver. Sounds like the top cop has gone to the Mayor Lighthead school of law enforcement. I feel sorry for the police in that town. The poor guys don't know what to do, one day you enforce the law and the next you don't.
