Climate change is causing more frequent and intense droughts, storm, heat waves, rising sea levels and melting glaciers and to stop this destruction, MIT researchers proposes 'Space Bubbles' to shield Earth from the sun's rays to combat the devastation.
This geoengineering idea would feature inflatable bubbles, organized in a circular shape the size of Brazil, which would sit between the Earth and the sun, blocking radiation from hitting our planet.
'We believe that inflating thin-film spheres directly in space from a homogeneous molten material–such as silicon can provide the variation in thickness that refracts a broader wave spectrum and allows us to

What could possibly go wrong with this idea? Mad scientists at it again. Faucimania has infected MIT. So instead of Global Warming these scientists (?) could introduce another ice age. No more melting glaciers. No more sweltering summers. Perpetual winter. Quit trying to play Mother Nature. You guys aren't smart enough.

My guess is that the "researchers" who proposed this insane idea were among that group of students who were admitted during the brief window of time when MIT dropped the requirement to take the SAT's. There can be no other rational explanation. Affirmative action admissions are so wonderful!

Ok block the suns rays and there goes solar power— knock that off the list! Sun also drives wind so there goes windmills! Now we’re back to nuclear and coal right where we are now! They’ve killed the green new deal! Yeah!

No one knows that's why they scream about warming, cooling and change and are never challenged with that very simple question. It's the perfect" crisis " for them . They created a " crisis " where none exists and so it follows, there are no solutions , except the demented destructive schemes they dream up.

Remember the Ozone Hole above the South Pole that was going to cause mankind's extinction were it to grow? Of course the "Arbiter's of Smart" all got together and demanded the end of R-12 Freon and aerosol cans of hairspray as the "cure." Result being that the Ozone Hole never went away, but they moved on to "Global Warming," which has since been renamed, "Climate Change," to avoid the inconvenient fact that global temperatures are hitting record LOWS in many parts of the world. This isn't at all about "saving the planet" but it IS all about controlling the Developed World and hindering mankind.
Echoing others here: "What could possibly go wrong?"

What is amazing is that MIT has researchers that can propose something like this and not be embarrassed. They also say, "Climate change is causing more frequent and intense droughts, storm, heat waves, ..," without justification, prove it. Experts are showing who they really are in many fields.

FTA: “ If we want to make fully informed decisions about the future of our ocean and climate, we need to complete some very critical research in the next decade.”
There it is, it’s all about FUNDING. Government funds billions for research. Government is run by power-seeking politicians and bureaucrats who control the purse strings and are using “global warming”, “climate change”, etc. as a way to frighten people and justify ever-growing and more intrusive government. So the way to get FUNDING is to jump on the bandwagon and submit proposals for anything that furthers the climate change narrative. Academics whose area of expertise is extraterrestrial don’t want to be shortchanged in FUNDING, so they need to propose space-based “solutions” to this non-problem to ensure they get a spot at the public trough.

Stuid idea. How big is the bubble, again? Shadows of objects high up are smaller on the ground for obvious reasons. Also consider space debri and micro meteorites. Pop! POP! POP!...Pop! Fuzzle... also consider that under the shadow, the weather will be drasticly modified. This will have a "butterfly wing" effect on areas around it that could be catastrphic.
And seriously... plastic bubbles? How much plastic, what does it weigh, what is the cost of lifting it into orbit. What is its projected lifespan (POP!). What is that based on. You have to process the plastic (polution) and the rocket fuel (more polution)
Really... is it worth the effort?

Wait till these bubbles intensify the sun’s rays and burn up massive areas of Earth and its crops. Photosynthesis be damned, full speed ahead!
Sounds like an idea coming from over-educated idiots with no concern or awareness of secondary effects.

We already have a bubble around our planet. It's called out ATMOSPHERE! Can see it now. The climate fanatics would strip the planet of all its resources to build this 'bubble'. They would destroy the planet to save it. They want to control resources. Now we know how they would use them.
Now if we build a Dyson Sphere, that's different. We should have all the necessary technology in about 5000 years.

Which was it....oh yes the third Highlander Film. Had to do with trying to change the weather to become something tame. The problem as I remember it was that despite the best intentions something went wrong and the whole world suffered. Every time I read an article like this one that movie heaves up in my memory. I've read stories, usually sci fi of fantasy where thru technology or thru magic, people try playing God to change something in humanity or nature and the result is Frankenstein's monster or a global desert or ice age. It's like the fools who start messing around with DNA, human or other kinds. Play with natures building blocks and who knows what evil will come upon mankind. Our Republic is seriously ill from all the damned do-gooders trying to bring about "justice", equal outcome, and addressing real or imagined damages done to some group of humans. The result is inevitably to muck up institutions and entities that have served us as a nation very well in the past. There is something in the hearts of humans that feels a need to screw around with thing to "make it all better". Sometimes it works most of the time it just makes things worse. So good luck on screwing around with the weather.
