The contrast in the levels of taxation between Red states and Blue states is well documented. Folks in Democrat-run states like Massachusetts and New York pay exorbitantly high taxes, apparently for the privilege of living in a state that disregards basic freedoms. Whereas those in Republican-run states such as Indiana and Florida typically pay far less in taxes. But when it comes to citing the most extreme example of high tax rates – whether we’re talking about sales tax, gas tax, income tax, or property tax – California is almost always at the top of the list.
Now, based on yesterday’s news regarding the California Task Force

What's to stop someone from moving there to get their "reparations" payment and then leaving?

About all those slave OWNERS who were African Americans. Do their descendants have to pay in or get the payout? Do they pay themselves? If their ancestors are slave owners, and none of mine were, why would I have to pay if they don't? How about the grand sum total of trillions of dollars in wealth redistribution that has already happened? White Americans as a group add to the Federal Budget every year, and Black Americans as a group are a net drain on the Federal Budget every year... does that count as a down payment for all those 40 acres and a mule? Let's not forget, that it was Democrat President Andrew Johnson who canceled Special Field Orders No. 15. Shouldn't the Democrat party pay the bill?

Couldn't happen to a better State, as leftists continue to demolish the tax base. This will be just one more welfare system they can't afford. A once vibrant State has gone from one of the top economies in the world to nothing better than a banana republic financial disaster.
Fact: California was admitted to the Union as a "Free State" in the "Compromise of 1850."

Every Union soldier dead or crippled in the War Between the States paid the reparations, whatever that is.
Lindon Johnson's War on Poverty pays it today.

As long as the Reparation Money comes from CA taxes, I don't care what they do. I guess the people who live there love what happens in their state. They keep voting in the MOST WOKE people they can find! I can't feel sorry for them.

I will not justify slavery for a second.
Take your reparation recipient and find his DNA relative in the old country.
Compare his life expectancy, general health, education, housing situation, ability to travel and financial situation. See who is ahead.
To quote Mohamed Ali after a trip to Africa: "It's a good thing my granddaddy got on that boat."

So California becomes the state of choice for uneducated welfare cases and the working educated all move out taking their tax base with them. The rest of the country gets to pay when the feds bail CA out.

Slavery IS defined as involuntary servitude. They were Fed and Housed, some beaten. Based on that definition I demand Reparations for being Drafted into the Military in 1967 and forced to fight a war!

How about reparations for Irish slaves, Bernardo Children, little boys like my husband's Grandfather (14) who was snatched off the Streets of London to be taken on board a commercial ship? BTW after all the abuse, when they landed in Jamaica, he jumped ship "he done a bunk" and made his way to Canada. He fought in the Boer War and WWI. How about reparations for British settlers in the Thirteen Colonies who had all their land and possessions taken from them in 1776 by revolutionaries? It isn't going to happen. We live in the here and present.

The commies in Cali will make this happen, and it will never end. They'll be handing out "reparations" forever.
