The politicization of the United States Supreme Court has been escalating for decades, going back at least as far as the 1987 nomination of Robert Bork by President Ronald Reagan. Since that time, confirmation battles such as those of Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh, along with hyper enthusiasm for scores of case decisions have seemingly ramped up in intensity.
Yet, perhaps nothing is more illustrative of the impact of outside pressures on the court, and the underlying tension affecting its members and their underlings, than the leaked court opinion from Justice Samuel Alito that came to light a month ago.

If the leaker is found to be a parasite of a high ranking Democrat or liberal justice the "investigation" ends. Immunity to laws the rest of us must obey was clearly demonstrated in the recent acquittal of Sussman lying to the FBI. The premature leak of Alioto's majority opinion on abortion made Democrats jump for joy. SCOTUS leaking early opinions and decisions will now be the rule. Pelosi and Shumer are tickled pink, or in their respective cases, marxian red.

Big whoop. It's kind of like waiting a month before investigating a crime. The crook has already pawned the stuff and left town. No doubt the delay was to allow all the leftist justices and their minions to purchase BleachBit(R) 3.0 and clear all the wedding photos and yoga appointments off their phones.
Like Howie Carr says, In the Halls of Justice, the only justice is in the halls.

The "investigation" won't amount to a hill of beans. As Reply No. 2 suggests, why did the powers that be wait a month to look at phones, etc. To say I am skeptical about the existence or real justice anymore is an understatement.

If the leaker is discovered to be other than a justice, that person's name will be released to the public.
Odds are justice Sotomayor is the sole leaker and Roberts suspects she is. If she is the leaker the end result of this dog and pony show investigation will be a statement something like: "Notwithstanding the Marshall's extensive, wide-ranging [blah, blah, blah] investigation, the identity of the leaker has not been discovered."

The “investigation” is internally known as “the search for a new cnn anchor.”

One wonders if, as #5 posits, that Justice Sotomayor was the leaker whether the remaining members of the Court would sanction her in some way or even call for her impeachment. At the least, one would suspect it would taint the remaining Justices' willingness to side with her on razors edge cases.

Let Chuck Schumer do the investigation and when he finds out who did it he will give them a nomination to the court as a reward.

The SCOTUS judge who is responsible for the leaker should be impeached.

The rule of law and equal justice for all is dead in this country. If you want examples start with the January 6th incarcerated with no bail or trial and the Michael Sussman jury nullification of not guilty. Nothing will come of this leak and the perp will not be found because it is most likely one or more liberal justices that did this not a clerk.

My daughter is a clerk of the court for a federal judge in Denver. She says if it was in fact a clerk who leaked the draft Alito opinion, that person's legal career just ended. Violating the confidence of your Judge is the highest no-no. Regardless if she/he/it/{fill in the blank} tilts pubbie or dim, there is no do-over.

#15 ... Of course, if the Justice involved (whose clerk was the "leaker") allowed it to happen, this person will have a long and illustrious career in the deep state. You know, like Anita Hill, who became America's preeminent legal scholar about absolutely nothing after she testified against Clarence Thomas. Seriously, what great legal reasoning has come out of Ms. Hill since she told us about what was on the Coke can?

The longer this takes, the more likely the investigation will reveal nothing. Roberts is such a political animal that we may never know what really happened.
