Canada moved to make the sale of handguns illegal under a sweeping new bill introduced in Ottawa Monday in the wake of the Uvalde, Texas school shooting. Flanked by government officials and advocates, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a “national freeze” on firearms in the country as he referenced increasing homicides in Canada and alluded to recent mass shootings south of the border. “It will no longer be possible to buy, sell, transfer or import handguns anywhere in Canada. In other words, we’re capping the market for handguns,” Trudeau said. “People should be free to go to the supermarket, their school or their place of worship without fear.”

On Tuesday morning, a gunman walked into Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and opened fire in a fourth-grade classroom, killing at least 19 children and two teachers. Salvador Ramos, 18, had already shot and critically wounded his grandmother by the time he arrived at the grade school; ultimately, it was a U.S. Border Patrol agent, and not police officers outside the building, who killed Ramos at the scene. The attack had gone on for about 40 minutes before that.

The nation’s eyes are on the Texas town of Uvalde following an elementary school shooting that has left 21 people dead and 17 more injured.
On Tuesday morning, a gunman entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde after shooting his grandmother and crashing a car near the school, authorities said. According to an official from the Texas Department of Safety, the shooter walked into the building and fired at “children, teachers, whoever was in his way.”
He killed 19 children and two teachers.

Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw held a press conference on Friday to detail the timeline of the Uvalde school massacre on Tuesday and address questions as to the law enforcement response.
McCraw gave a timeline of events, one that had been lacking in the hours and days after the shooting when questions arose as to why officers did not immediately pursue the shooter into the school and attempt to prevent him from killing the 19 children and 2 women who lost their lives that day.

Ramos was a student at Uvalde High School who lived in the small city 80 miles west of San Antonio.
Ramos had hinted on social media that an attack could be coming, state Sen Roland Gutierrez, who was briefed by police, told reporters.
President Biden on Tuesday night said the “gun lobby” is responsible for US mass shootings and called for new gun control laws after a gunman murdered 18 children and two adults at an elementary school in Texas.
“As a nation, we have to ask when in God’s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby? When in God’s name will we do what we all know in our gut needs to be done?” Biden said in remarks from the White House just before 9 p.m.
A retired Buffalo police officer who was working security at the supermarket where a gunman opened fire Saturday is being hailed as a hero for confronting and firing upon the suspect before being fatally shot.
Aaron Salter Jr. was among the 10 people killed in the attack.
Salter was a retired Buffalo police officer who was working at Tops as a security guard.
Officials say the 55-year-old security guard fired his gun multiple times at the attacker and struck his body armour at least once. The gunman was unharmed and returned fire, killing Salter, according to police.
“He’s a true hero,” Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said Sunday.

Yellowstone National Park, Wyo. — A bison gored a 25-year-old woman in Yellowstone National Park. The bison was walking near a boardwalk at Black Sand Basin, just north of Old Faithful, when the woman approached it on Monday, according to a park statement. She got within 10 feet before the animal gored her and tossed her 10 feet in the air. The woman, from Grove City, Ohio, sustained a puncture wound and other injuries. So, in response to a crime committed with a rifle, the increasingly oppressive government to the north proposes to ban pistols. Never let a crisis go to waste in the left's never ending crusade against freedom. To leftists, protesting is a privilege, not a right, too, if the folks in charge don't like your cause. The extreme left, around the world, is making it ever clearer that it simply despises freedom. Guns? We can't trust THE PEOPLE with same; only uniformed governmental agents trained to follow orders can be trusted. Speech? Have the "wrong" opinions and we'll freeze your bank accounts or shout you down. Books? We'll whine about "bans" in schools, but actually prevent publication of books with "wrong" ideas or by cancelled authors. Violence? We march under the clenched fist and our "mostly peaceful" gatherings routinely leave cities in flames and businesses looted.
