Bush Dynasty Rejected by Republican Voters
in Nearly All 254 Texas Counties

Original Article

Attorney General primary candidate George P. Bush, the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) and the nephew of former President George W. Bush (R), was rejected by Republican voters in all but five of Texas’s 254 counties. On Tuesday, 68 percent of Republicans voted to re-elect Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who has been a fierce opponent of illegal immigration and the monopolistic business practices of giant tech corporations. Bush received 32 percent of votes cast, losing to Paxton in all but five of Texas’s 254 counties.

Comments:

Because no Bush was ever a true Republican or was ever really good for this country. Who remembers that H.W. was the first President to openly tell us about the New World Order???????? We need people that love America leading America. Time to say no to the people that have and continue to profit from+ hurting the citizens of this country.

The Bush presidencies have been disasters. Two Gulf Wars and Afghanistan that achieved no resolution and allowed Democrats to gain political control. Good men perhaps, but ultimately failed leaders bringing us to current state of affairs. No surprise that voters cringe at the thought of another Bush even though this election had nothing to do with national politics. Jeb found it out in the most embarrassing and expensive way that the Bush name lowered peoples expectations to the point that he was never really a viable candidate. Perhaps it’s a good rule of thumb, reject political dynasties from the get go.

Bush represents the old Republicans that let the Democrats roll over them. The new Republicans have borrowed from the Democrats and they now fight back, come out swinging and don’t backdown, and often get crude (which is admittedly sometimes hard to take). The old Republicans seemed too scared to push back and it lost elections. Times have changed and the Bush era of Republicans are being put out to pasture - at least for now. Republicans need fighters not sheep who are willing and able to go on the offensive as well as play defense.

One of my major problems with the otherwise likable and decent George W. was his pro illegal immigration stance, something that helped Republican donors replace U.S. citizens with illegals who would work for less $. What an irony that the proposed hit squad could come through our virtually open southern boarder.

The Bush last name was arguably a factor, but George P's biggest obstacle was screwing around with the Alamo and Cenotaph trying to "re-imagine" the Alamo Plaza. No one would argue with the restoration and preservation of the Alamo, the Shrine of Texas Liberty. To most native Texans, this site is sacred and holy and held in great reverence. The very idea of making it virtually some sort of 'amusement park' attempting to give respect to the ruthless tyrant Santa Anna is unthinkable. It took over 29,000 people contacting the Texas Historical Commission to get them to stop the dismantling and moving of the Cenotaph which ultimately caused Bush's plan to fall. Rather on run on his resume and skill as an attorney, his campaign was almost solely focused on going negative on his opponent. Texans sure remembered the Alamo! His mismanagement of Hurricane Harvey government funds while Land Commissioner due to lack of action is another contributing factor.

The problem remains however. Most state legislators are controlled by old guard big government luvin republicans who still proudly display the collection of Christmas cards they received from George and Bar, w, and Jeb! They are fundamentally antiTrump and engage in group think that only your local high school teachers lounge would envy. They get their newsletters and talking points from Rove and don’t engage tea party Trumpers churchgoers or small government conservatives.

He ran in Texas, which despite all the liberal wack jobs moving there, is still a Red state. Little tiny Bush should take a page from Clinton and turn into a Democrat. He would then clean up in the Urban areas as a Democrat and have much more publicity in the national media. He doesn't have twin to become a big wig, just be a glorious loser in a red state. Look how well things have turned ut for Beto and Adams. Lose, lose big o small, and become a rich democrat icon.

Had to do some digging to identify the five counties that George P. won. Travis Co. (Austin) . Yeah, even the Republicans are liberal there. Midland Well, there are a lot of pro-Bush folks there. Webb Co. (Laredo) Again, the Bushs are popular in Laredo. The other two counties are probably the smallest counties in population: Kenedy Co. (between Corpus and Brownsville, just south of the King Ranch and I think there was a very strong pro-Bush GOP official that used to live there) and Loving Co., which IS the smallest (by population) county in the USA. And the Texas Tribune, source of all this, is a well-known liberal rag. But it was still nice to see the Bushes lose this one.

George P's support of Trump always seemed opportunistic to me - the rest of the Bush family was unanimous and vocal about their contempt for Trump and Georgie was the only one of his generation with political aspirations. Now he's free to go find a future outside of politics where the Bush family belongs.

I think #17 misunderstood #16's post. Like most here, I supported W., but he made many mistakes that cost the country; not that any Democrat could have done better. If fact, every move he made to ''save companies that were too big to fail'' at the end of his last term was continued and put on steroids by Obama. It was like standing on the accelerator of a car going over a cliff. That only served to kill companies that were not favored because the banks took the money and held on to it. As a result, I hate banks and will never vote for another Bush, including P. who seems like a nice enough fellow and somewhat competent.

Re comment: "Republicans need fighters, not sheep..." GHW Bush was the last president to have served in actual combat during wartime (WWII). Like Trump, Bush came from a wealthy family; unlike Trump, Bush volunteered on his 18th birthday to serve as a naval aviator, flying 58 combat missions off of an aircraft carrier in an Avenger torpedo bomber. That required the pilot to fly low and slow in attacking enemy ships with torpedos or screaming towards the ground during bombing runs on shore-based installations. During a successful bombing run on Japanese positions on an island just north of Iwo Jima, Bush was shot down, bailing out into the Pacific where he was picked up by a U. S. submarine. As president, his decisions relative to Desert Shield and Desert Storm achieved the stated objectives of expelling Iraq from Kuwait and defending Saudi assets critical to U. S. interests. While Bush 41 may have been overly congenial, often to his personal detriment, he was no sheep.

@#5 - I'm not seeing any signs of the GOP changing anything. It's the same old go along get along crowd who are happy to be in 2nd place as long as the leadership can keep their power - such that it is. They didn't push back against Obama, thumbed their noses at Trump, ignored the election being stolen from Trump, ignored January 6th, etc. The list is endless. I don't see any redeeming social value to the GOP at all.

Trump may have been bad for himself, but the two Bush administrations were terrible for Republicans. We didn't GAIN any ground, politically, from having them in office. Trump accomplished Republican goals; the Bushes did not. The Bushes epitomize the "they wanted to spend $2 trillion but we held them to $1 trillion" philosophy of establishment Republicans. We Republicans got all the grief as if we had elected a Reagan, but neither of them were anything like Reagan. I give Dubya credit for his leadership after 9-11, because Gore would have said pieties and then reminded us about Global Warming being much more dangerous than terrorism...but sometimes I think any decent Republican could have done a better job.

Blinken claimed during his Thursday speech that the U.S. does not “seek to block China from being a major power” and that a “new Cold War” between the two countries would not be productive. The State Department announced the speech Tuesday, seemingly in attempt to clean up Biden’s promise to intervene militarily in the event that China attacks Taiwan. Although some Republicans praised Biden’s pledge, the White House backpedaled in an effort to maintain strategic ambiguity.
