A high school in a Chicago is implementing a race-based grading system “to adjust classroom grading scales to account for skin color or ethnicity of its students.”
The move is necessary, advocates say, because “traditional grading practices perpetuate inequities,” a slide used in a presentation said.
Students, depending on their race, will not be held accountable for missing class, misbehaving in school, or for failing to turn in assignments. (snip) “Teachers may unintentionally let non-academic factors—like student behavior or whether a student showed up to virtual class—interfere with their final evaluation of students,” Sullivan said.

ROME — The leader of a dissident Catholic LGBT advocacy group has praised Pope Francis’ choice of San Diego Bishop Robert W. McElroy to become a cardinal, calling McElroy “the kind of prelate our church needs.”
Francis DeBernardo, the executive director of New Ways Ministry, said in a statement Monday that the appointment of McElroy as a cardinal “will help to re-shape the episcopacy of the Catholic Church in the U.S., which has been overwhelmingly and vehemently anti-LGBTQ.”
New Ways Ministry “welcomes the appointment of San Diego’s Bishop Robert McElroy as a cardinal,” DeBernardo said, as one “who will stretch out a hand, not a fist, to the LGBTQ community.”

An appellate court in California has held that bumblebees are fish:
The issue presented here is whether the bumble bee, a terrestrial invertebrate, falls within the definition of fish, as that term is used in the definitions of endangered species in section 2062, threatened species in section 2067, and candidate species (i.e., species being considered for listing as endangered or threatened species) in section 2068 of the Act.
It takes 35 pages of tortured logic in an opinion that reads like a parody, but the court concludes that bumblebees indeed are fish within the meaning of California’s environmental laws.

I lived about 15 miles from Fort Bragg, North Carolina from 1994 to 2012, in a rural area where many Army officers and members of the various Special Forces groups based there made their home. After 9/11, our area was immediately impacted as Fort Bragg forces were some of the first deployed in the War on Terror. We were reminded daily of the sacrifices these families were making – the dad who wasn’t there to participate in Little League with the kids or read a bedtime story or attend awards ceremonies at the elementary school, or any of the hundreds of little things that make up family life.

The Association of Children’s Librarians of Northern California (ACL) is hosting two events where sex-shop founder and activist Corey Silverberg will be discussing “sex education that centers justice” and “how sexuality and gender show up in public spaces.”
The two sessions are part of a program called “Sex Ed for Librarians,” and the sessions, titled “The Sex Education We Deserve” and “Sex Ed. and Public Libraries,” both feature Silverberg as a speaker. The ACL notes that its mission is to “further the cause of library work with children” and to review and evaluate “children’s books and other materials produced for young people.”

Several left-wing, pro-abortion activist groups led by so-called “clergy” are ramping up their efforts to make sure women can abort their unborn children, including transporting them to states where abortionists are still operating. Katie Zeh, who is described as a pastor and CEO of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, (snip)
Zeh, who claims only “white nationalists” are against ending the lives of unborn children: (snip) “It’s just that there’s a very vocal group of what we call white Christian nationalists that have made this the central issue of their political platform and they have used and weaponized Christianity,"

A purported climate change activist masquerading as a wheelchair-bound elderly lady allegedly tried to vandalize the Mona Lisa at the Louvre on Sunday before he was hustled out by security guards.
The wig-wearing man allegedly tried to break through the bullet-proof glass that protects the iconic painting and then threw a piece of cake or a custard pie at it shortly before closing time at the gallery.
Leonardo da Vinci’s 16th-century masterpiece is one of the most popular attractions at the world-famous Paris museum and is situated in its own room where crowds often assemble to view it and routinely take pictures.

DailyMail.com said it obtained his arrest report, revealing he was driving eastbound on Walnut Lane, six miles south of the Pelosi’s vineyard in St Helena.
According to the report, Pelosi pulled out onto S-29 to cross it, ignoring a stop sign, and was struck by Jesus V. Lopez, who was driving a 2014 Jeep. Lopez was reportedly traveling northbound on the state road.

The woke culture pervasive throughout government-run schools set another benchmark in insanity in Northern Virginia after a librarian defended the “validation” garnered from one questionable book for students who may have confessed to being sexually abused.
The Loudon County Public School (LCPS) district has become something of a household name (snip) A new report from the Daily Wire explained that a teacher at Sterling Middle School reported the librarian, Stefany Guido, to the police after she confided that a book promoting prostitution was beneficial to the students because there are kids aged 11- to 13-years-old enrolled there who “do sex work” and the content affirms their lifestyle.

Pope Francis on Sunday named as cardinal San Diego Bishop Robert W. McElroy, a Roman Catholic leader who had spoken out against the calls for bishops to exclude pro-choice politicians like President Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from Holy Communion over their stances on abortion.
The move comes in the wake of San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone's announcement earlier this month that he would bar Pelosi from receiving Holy Communion due to her stance on abortion. In naming McElroy, Francis passed over Cordileone, who holds a higher rank.

In the 1970s, Irene Demas and her husband Tony would trade dishes at their restaurant for the talents of the locals, including bakers, craftsmen, and artisans. One of these exchanges gave them something they could have never imagined: a painting by the acclaimed Canadian folk artist Maud Lewis, which is now worth thousands of dollars.
Painter John Kinnear and his wife would go (to) the Villa, Irene’s restaurant, almost every day for lunch. And every time, Kinnear would only ever order a grilled cheese sandwich, which he exchanged for a selection of painting(s) from him and his friends.
“Mind you, it wasn’t just an ordinary grilled cheese.

The Department of the Navy this week released its strategy for how it will deal with climate change and proceed toward the government’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
“Climate change is one of the most destabilizing forces of our time, exacerbating other national security concerns and posing serious readiness challenges,” Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro said in the introduction to the 32-page report. (snip) Setting the department on a course to combat climate change is a main priority of Del Toro’s tenure. He called the issue “existential” for the Navy and Marine Corps.
