Pope Francis on Sunday named as cardinal San Diego Bishop Robert W. McElroy, a Roman Catholic leader who had spoken out against the calls for bishops to exclude pro-choice politicians like President Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from Holy Communion over their stances on abortion.
The move comes in the wake of San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone's announcement earlier this month that he would bar Pelosi from receiving Holy Communion due to her stance on abortion. In naming McElroy, Francis passed over Cordileone, who holds a higher rank.

I cant stand Peelosi and will enjoy seeing her spectacular splashdown into the Lake of Fire as much as anyone. But The Lord's Commandment to remember Him each time you eat or drink was a commandment given to EVERY sinner to have faith in His Works on the cross and in heaven after Resurrection. I do not believe it should be denied to anybody by any Church- nor did He want it denied. I have attended funerals in a Catholic Church for good friends and have been denied the Communion because I am not Catholic. Yet my Pastor teaches and practices that it can be taken in the home by remembering what He did for us- including Peelosi. dammit.

Number 5 I'm going to gently describe how being denied communion was for you. The Catholic Church did not deny you anything. We believe that it is the body and blood and the soul in Divinity of Jesus. And if you don't believe it you're not in the club. That's it.

#9 - Im going to bluntly describe a rebuttal: the Body and Bread of Christ is offered to those who were baptized in His name and who believe it is the Body and Blood of Christ. Church affiliation speaks to the path a Christian has decided to take in relation to the Word of God, but Christ's exhortion to join him at the Table is for all. It should be treated with seriousness and evenhandedness. #5 was pointing out the hypocrisy inherent in denying the Body and Blood of Christ to a fellow baptized Christian attending a wedding and yet supporting the priest who gives it to someone who blatantly flaunts an anti-Christian, pro-abortion stance. I belong to the Anglican Catholic church that has been WIDELY acknowledged by the RCC to be in "good ecumenical and theological" standing and on par with the RCC in as far as doctrine and SHOULD be welcomed at the Eucharistic Table...yet I am denied the Host every time I find myself at a RCC mass because I am not a technical "member" of the "special club"...which is exactly why (one of the reasons at least) I am no longer a "member" (I was raised RCC). I went so far as to NOT have a full mass when I got married because if the Holy Eucharist would not be offered to baptized Christians NOT a member of "the special club" then NO ONE would be offered, including the RCCers.
So it goes both ways, capisce?

If you want to be a Catholic, live by the rules and faith that we believe in. If you don't want to live by the rules and faith, find a Church that better suits your needs. It's straightforward although the current Pope is confusing a lot of people with his mixed messages. That's a Jesuit for you.

Bishop McElroy's position is to not ban Catholic "pro-choice" politicians from the Communion rail. While I disagree with his decision, he is not outright supporting abortion. Just as in any organization there are a mix of conservative and liberals among the U.S. bishops. Thankfully, the liberals account for only one third of the Bishop's Conference. It is disheartening that our bishops cannot speak with one voice, but the positive aspect is that the Communion ban for pro-abortion politicians is a topic of public discussion. We have Archbishop Cordileone to thank, and all the other bishops that are preaching against the evils of abortion from the pulpit and instructing their priests do the same. This is a monumental sea-change from the silent pulpits of the last 50 years. God's ways are not our ways. "Behold I make all things new."
The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic Faith. At the Last Supper Our Lord instituted the priesthood and gave his Apostles (and their successors) the ability to consecrate bread and wine so that they become the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. "Do this in memory of me," only effects the Real Presence when celebrated by a Catholic or Orthodox priest. The Real Presence remains in a consecrated Host until it is consumed or deteriorates naturally while kept in a locked tabernacle or other appropriate reliquary. Catholics and Orthodox display the Real Presence in Eucharistic Adoration where the Host is in a golden monstrance. This truth of the Real Presence was believed by every Christian until the Reformation when Sacred Tradition was replaced with Scripture alone and personal interpretation was given free reign. (The Lutherans believe in the Real Presence until the host is received, but disappears from those left-over after the service. They have no tabernacle or Eucharistic Adoration.)
There are many documented instances of consecrated hosts and wine turning into flesh and blood. The oldest dates from 750 a.d. These miracles have occurred all over the world and all through the centuries. Many have been scientifically analyzed. All of the analysis shows the flesh to be of cardiac tissue, and the blood RH negative; no matter the point in history in which it occurred or where on earth. Also, the blood on the Shroud of Turin has tested as RH positive. Since the science of blood types is a modern invention, how could "hoaxers" in the Middle Ages know? The Eucharist is the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. That is why non-Catholics who do not discern this miracle are not allowed to receive under the pain of their own damnation as warned by St. Paul.

#5 can enjoy his bread and grape juice. Communion in the Catholic Church is the actual body and blood of Christ dispensed by his appointed priests who were given the role at the Last Supper, so it's not the same thing as the bread and grape juice some of our Protestant fundamentalist brethren are partaking in. Of course anyone can enjoy that stuff together.

The naming of Bishop Robert W. McElroy to the cardinalate is a slap in the face to victims of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. We have proof that he *knew* of the allegations against McCarrick, but he did nothing. We're supposed to be okay with him selecting the next pope? The good news is we will all face the same judgment.

You can read the Bible from cover to cover and the whole idea of a pope is based upon a deeply flawed reading of one sentence Jesus spoke to Peter. That's it. The 'rock' that Jesus said His Church would be built upon was NOT Peter... it was the revelation that Jesus is the Messiah. THAT was what Jesus was referring to when He said 'and upon this rock I will build my Church'. It is upon the foundational truth of Christ, the Son of God, making atonement for our sins. Not Jesus saying "And upon you, Peter, I will build my Church". He did not say that and He did not mean that. But even if He DID mean that... where is the basis for there being a succession of popes? That is 100% MIA.
Everywhere else we are told that ALL believers are equals and all are priests in the sense that one's acceptance and access to God is based upon Christ and Christ alone.
Papal infallacy is the biggest fallacy of them all. The pope is a guy who rose to a position of political power. He is a modern day analog of a Pharisee.

In Catholic history there have been many bad Popes.
It is one of the reasons so many have doubts in the Faith.
Why does God--Jesus allow this in the Church He established.
Surely if there is a God could he not stop this?
Why doesn't He?
Just as there are wars and the Holocaust, why was it allowed.
Now a pastor will study theology and come up with some brilliant reason that these things are not stopped by a God that so loves his flock.
But to an idiot like myself it only increases the doubt.

Somehow the wicked and evil of the world have found ways to become elected to high positions. Either the people below them are also wicked and evil or they are naive, unsuspecting idiots. Given that Biden and his entire cabal and Pope Frank have enjoyed tarnished records for decades, I'm going with the wicked and evil theory.

There are a number of Archbishops in the USA who would qualify for Cardinal. Pope Frankie picked a mealy mouthed cleric to be a Cardinal. The Germans are trying to move the Catholic Church into their way of thinking...bring the church up to date with abortion, rid us of the teachings of Christ and the apostles regarding homosexuality, in other words become more Anglican. Archbishop Cardileone is a holy priest. We can count on his teachings. I'm sure he knew the ramifications of denying Pelousie communion. He will accept his "punishment" . As for Pelousie. She thinks she's special in determining the official word of the Church. She thinks she is a positive Catholic, preaching her dogmas as truth. She is wrong. I read most of the posts on this article. It's an anti Catholic group. The Church has an Office of Law...Canon Law. It informs and enforces. That's where I get my information. Pelousie excommunicated herself. The Eucharist is the body and blood of Jesus Christ. I refer you all the the Gospel of John, Chapter 6. Read it. Pope Frankie has revealed himself. He's a liberal Pope. There are more titles regarding his papacy. Please keep him and all supporting bishops in your prayers.

There is God and there is religion. They are two different things.
I remember a minister saying there are over 20000 religions in the world, they are all different, they are all divinely inspired, but there is only ONE God. How do you explain that? The only answer I see is religion is created by humanity. People have differences, and that is how religions split. Some think Communion should be served to anyone while others disagree. We have so many religions because we have differences over doctrine and other things like ethnicity.
What does God think of all this? Guessing if any religion brings people closer to God everything is good. God wants everyone. Is God going to let religion get in the way? Is God going to let sin get in the way? God is our designer and creator. If there is anything in us God finds objectionable, God can change it.

What happened to the Pope who was forced to retire? That's never happened. He was akin to Pope John Paul who was beloved, a most godly Pope, loved Jesus and was reading the bible right before he died. What a blessed man of God. We loved him.
As to why this Pope evaluated a pro choice bishop, we think the Holy Spirit/Jesus is behind revealing man's character and a nation's character today. It started with the year 2020, and it has significance. 2020 vision has brought and is still bringing revelation of corruption from the highest order to the lowest including a Pope, a president, courts, intelligent agencies and on and on. We are seeing today the beginning of God's Judgment and as the bible says, it begins at the Household of God. This Pope will see God's judgment with his Leftist/godless acts.
As for we believers, let us not break the bond of unity and love over the belief/tradition of the Catholic church. They are part of the Body of Christ. We must not let the enemy of our souls, the devil, divide us against ourselves. (house divided...cannot stand)

Men are flawed. We are literally a fallen race. Whatever we touch, we do so with mixed motives at best.
Look to the teachings of Jesus and see if you find flaws there. I live with my flaws and the destruction that took place in the wake of my self-centered decisions, but I find no flaw in a word Christ uttered as recorded in the Gospels. He taught us to love sacrificially. He taught us that the greatest in the Kingdom of God is the one who serves the most. He taught the importance of the condition of the heart and not just the end behavior. There is no flaw in Him or in His teachings.
The greatest apostle of them all, Paul, stated that he did not do the things he knew he should do while he also did things that he knew were wrong. That is the conundrum that every person of faith will encounter if their faith is real.
It is not so much something to call faith into question as much as it is to give it credence when we realize that our hearts are perfectly described as willing... but flawed and weak. That is why we need GRACE. That is why we need MERCY. That is why we need God's LOVE.

#12~ (The Lutherans believe in the Real Presence until the host is received, but disappears from those left-over after the service. They have no tabernacle or Eucharistic Adoration.)
With all due respect, as brothers and sisters in Christ, Lutherans believe Scripture is the only authority to determine doctrine. “Lutherans believe that in the Sacrament of the Altar (Communion) Christ’s body and blood are truly present in the bread and wine of the Lord’s Supper, but they do not accept the doctrine of TRANSUBSTANTIATION, which teaches that the elements are permanently changed from the substances of bread and wine to the substances of body and blood.
“Transubstantiation is rejected for several reasons: It is a philosophical explanation for a work of Christ’s almighty Word which we can only believe, not explain. In seeking to explain a mystery it changes the plain and simple meanings of God’s Word (Scripture refers to the elements as BOTH bread and wine AND body and blood, 1 Cor. 11:26-27).
“Lutheran rejection of transubstantiation should not in any way be taken to mean a denial that Christ’s very body and blood are truly present in the bread and wine of the Lord’s Supper for the forgiveness of sins.”
Grace and blessings.
