WASHINGTON — Still mourning a Texas mass shooting, Democrat Beto O'Rourke gave his long-shot campaign a jolt by imploring a national audience that it was finally time for real action to curb the proliferation of high-powered guns in his home state and across America. That was 2019, and the former congressman was running for president when he declared during a debate, “Hell yes, we’re gonna take your AR-15,” weeks after a gunman targeting Mexican immigrants killed 23 people at a Wal-Mart in O'Rourke's native El Paso. Only the wacko libs who live and die by politics see this as good. He put the final nails in his gubernatorial race with his actions. Seeyalaterbye, Beavis O'Dork. Get a life. If Beto was a competent politician, he could've been correct in his assessment. Abbott has his problems, particularly the border, and now this shooting and his being stained by the apparent incompetence of the police and their spokespersons. Abbott got bitten by misinformation, and it illustrates why politicians should not engage tragedy quickly beyond expressing regrets and advising patience while the facts are collected. (At least give the police a chance to get their stories straight.) Many here will deny Abbott's vulnerabilities...and he will likely win in November, thanking the policitcal gods his opponent was Beto.

What do you expect Beto to say? What happened in Uvalde is not on the Governor of Texas, but is on the perpetrator who obviously was an anti social homicidal maniac, as who else would shoot his grandmother in the face? As usual the leftist Democrats like Beto always attempt to blame the wimpy Republicans for everything that goes wrong in the country and that’s what Beto is trying to do here.

#29, the Republican Primary opponents to Governor Abbott you speak of got 12% and 8%. The voters spoke loudly in favor of Abbott, and regardless of your opinion of him, well over 2/3 voted for him instead of one or your candidates. That primary race is over and the result is known. The focus should now be to defeat Dems and to support local candidates and focus on getting Austin and DC candidates to listen to the grassroots who have had ENOUGH of being ignored.

Back in 1988, scientists in London almost seem to have had a crystal ball. Writing in the International Journal of Epidemiology, they made a bold – and surprisingly prescient – prediction about monkeypox: Over time, "the average magnitude and duration of monkeypox epidemics will increase," they wrote. At the time, monkeypox was an extremely rare disease. Health-care workers detected only a few cases a year in West and Central Africa. People caught the disease almost exclusively from rodents or primates and then spread the virus to only a few people. Transmission between people was limited. But the foresighted scientists warned that, over

It's no secret that the average new car is awfully heavy. That's because the average new car is usually a crossover, SUV, or pickup truck, and as battery power becomes more prominent, that problem won't be remedied right away. This causes issues on more than a couple of fronts, namely pedestrian safety and infrastructure. Some Washington D.C. council members are looking for a way to mitigate large vehicles' impacts on both by proposing that anyone with a car or truck weighing over 6,000 pounds pay $500 annually. As Bloomberg reports, that's roughly seven times the normal registration fee for, say

Washington—A federal jury on Tuesday found former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann not guilty of lying to the FBI — finding special counsel John Durham did not prove his case beyond a reasonable doubt. The verdict by a jury in heavily Democratic-leaning DC, came midway through the second day of deliberations following a two-week trial on a single count of making false statements to a federal agent. Durham’s prosecution team unsuccessfully sought to prove that Sussmann deliberately lied to then-FBI general counsel James Baker by claiming not to be acting on behalf of the Clinton campaign and an internet executive when the two met in 2016.
