The Black Lives Matters national group has a new executive to deal with its financial scandal: a woman who’s bungled her own finances.
Cicley Gay, 44, a non-profit advisor and flack named chair of Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation in April, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2005, 2013 and 2016, federal court records show.
Her most recent filing, from August 2016, showed Gay had more than $120,000 in debts, including owing $55,000 in student loans—from her time studying at Liberty University in Virginia and the University of Kansas—and more than $18,000 for leasing a Lincoln MKZ sedan.
She also claimed to have $7,000 in medical expenses

As Americans across the US struggle to find infant formula, President Biden claimed Wednesday he was unaware of the problem until early April—months after the closure of a Michigan factory triggered the crisis. Biden made the stunning admission following a virtual meeting with major formula manufacturers on the same day the Wall Street Journal, citing research firm IRI, reported that 23% of powdered baby formula was out of stock during the week ending May 22, compared with a 21% out-of-stock rate during the previous week. The normal out-of-stock range prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the outlet, was between 5% and 7%.

The U.S. has added more than 2 million immigrants to its population since President Biden took office in 2021, the vast majority of them here illegally, according to a new report Wednesday that says most of the newcomers are arriving illegally. The surge is so overwhelming that it’s pushed up the projected point at which the U.S. will have its largest-ever share of immigrants, according to the Center for Immigration Studies. At the current pace of growth, 14.9% of residents will be immigrants as of sometime next year, topping the record set around the turn of the 20th century. That’s half a decade earlier than the Census Bureau’s last calculation,

A teacher did not, as previously stated, leave a door propped open with a rock during the massacre at Robb elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, last week, but closed it before the attacks began–only for the door to not automatically lock, Texas state investigators said. The gunman used the door to get inside, where he killed 19 students and two teachers.
The finding, released by Texas department of public safety on Tuesday, contradicts an earlier account in which they said a teacher had propped the door open shortly before Salvador Ramos, 18, entered the building.(Snip)“We did verify she closed the door. The door did not lock.

President Joe Biden celebrated the beginning of “Pride Month” on Wednesday, adding a new initial to the Pride acronym in recognition of “Intersex” as an additional gender identity. “We reaffirm that LGBTQI+ rights are human rights,” Biden wrote in a statement on Twitter. “And we recommit to delivering protections, safety, and equality so everyone can realize the full promise of America.” The president’s statement included an additional “I” to the Pride acronym to represent “Intersex,” even though the White House only celebrated LGBTQ+ the previous year.(Snip)Biden reaffirmed his support for not just lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer rights, but also intersex and “+,” a symbol designed to refer

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says she made a mistake last year in predicting that inflation would be minimal or manageable. “I think I was wrong then about the path that inflation would take,” Ms. Yellen told CNN on Tuesday. A once-promising fight against COVID-19 took a downward turn in mid-2021 as variants surged and producers struggled to shake off the pandemic and meet the demand for products. People who saved money or received federal payments continued to spend on goods instead of services, trips, conferences and other events, exacerbating the problem. Republicans say President Biden overheated the economy by authorizing new stimulus funding alongside the vaccine-driven

The White House said Tuesday that President Biden does not support a Canada-style ban on handgun sales in the wake of a pair of mass shootings last month—the latest example of administration members having to clear up their boss’s remarks. “We’ll leave it up to other countries to set their policy on gun ownership,” Jean-Pierre said during her regular briefing. “The president has made his position clear: The United States needs to act. As I just laid out, he supports a ban on the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and expanded background checks to keep guns out of the—dangerous hands.

A Ukrainian LGBTQ couple have told of their decision to volunteer for Ukraine's territorial defence force to 'stop Russia destroying our culture'. Volunteer fighters Oleksandr Zhuhan and Antonina Romanova, both 37, spent two days sheltering as Russian tanks rolled across the border on February 24, before they decided to take action.(Snip)Like other members of Ukraine's LGBTQ community, the pair have sewn unicorn patches onto the sleeves of their uniforms to denote their status. The FBI, CIA and other intelligence agencies are not permitted to consider Chinese-Americans as a greater security threat despite their targeting by China’s intelligence service for recruitment, according to a report made public Tuesday by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. “While continuing to combat the significant national security threat posed by the [People’s Republic of China], IC agencies and components must ensure that their intelligence activities and security clearance processes protect the privacy, civil liberties, and civil rights of Americans of Chinese descent and all other Americans,” the report concludes.
The report appears to be based on unfounded allegations of Chinese-American racism by intelligence and security

The whole point is to risk the country’s social cohesion, silly. That and to break the bank. But didn't your politicians look wonderful onstage when announcing that you'd welcome as many refugees as possible, including a generous share of men of fighting age along with various non-Ukrainian nationals in the mix?
